  1. Install the throne back on it and run it on methane????
  2. I have to agree one million percent. I would never THINK about opening someone's door without asking first- never mind just climbing in, thats just plan flat out IGNORANT!!!!! My truck is far from a picture of total 100% total immaculate perfection of a restoration, with tons of nicks, scratches and a few dents here and there....but that doesnt give anyone the right to open my doors without my permission. I always get people asking, and I always say yes, and in fact have even told many to "go ahead, open the door!" when I can see them straining their necks to look up and in........but not to ask? Nope. Thats like school on christmas day- no class.
  3. We had a 1978 Hahn firetruck with what I believe to be the same system- Eaton "skid-trol." Truck had a 671T Leaktroit with an Allison HT740 which stopped pretty good even without a jake. However that electro-mechanical skid control was more trouble than it was worth and in the early 1990's the electronics were disconnected, and the airlines all routed to bypass the box.
  4. ho boy....here we go......waiting....waiting....waiting........
  5. Well gawrsh golly, ya learn something new every day......lol
  6. The 77 Cruiseliner is most certainly a Hayward tractor. The 1982 is iffy- I think 1982 is the year they ceased production in Hayward and closed down the plant.
  7. Vinny did Mack make any in Canada? I was thinking it was a Hayward truck but the front does not look Hayward to me for some reason......

  9. Hey Bob, you ever see the AMT/Ertl 1/25th scale American LaFrance Firetruck models- there are three of them- a pumper, a snorkel ladder truck, and a rearmount aerial ladder truck. I am currently in the process of kit-bashing a pumper and a rearmount into a tiller (tractor-drawn aerial with the rear steering) ladder truck.
  10. I would criticize you but I dont want to be labeled a racist. Also please advise your wife to use one "representative" candle, do not use the number of candles you need for your age, the radiant heat will light off your dining room.
  11. Carl, have a good one!!!!!! See you at Trucktoberfest!
  12. Thanks Ken, I passed that info onto Pop. He's getting the timing belt replaced today, told him while the guy was in there may as well go ahead and do the EGR valve too. He's really excited about this vehicle, I have to admit I am kind of jealous. I was trying like hell to find one back in April-May of last year when I was vehicle shopping but everyone I talked too said "good luck trying to find a used one."
  13. Dad just bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty with a 2.8 I4 VGT oil burner (made by VM Motari.) http://www.vmmotori.it/en/01/00/01/dettaglio.jsp?id=11 Has 99,000 miles on it. From what Dad has read online, he will be preventively replacing the timing belt immediately and possibly the water pump as well. Anyone have any experience with one of these, or something else with one of thier engines? I never heard of them, but understand them to be a very popular marine engine in Europe.
  14. What is the hydraulic arm on the 5th wheel for?? Is it for one of those dump trailers where the whole trailer lifts up?? http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3824215
  15. I don't think that's going to be an ex-City of Phila truck. Most large Philly City vehicles like that are a baby-shit yellow in color; however white isn't out of the question. All of the accessories (headache rack, etc.) just aren't "philly." I have never heard of them having any Allisons. It's too clean, in too good of condition, too low milage, too....well.....NICE! The various Departments of the City of Philadelphia don't turn vehicles back in for excess property auction until the wheels are falling off, the belts are showing through the tires and your feet can poke through the rust holes. Philly is in such bad shape right now financially that I seriously doubt any administrator of whatever Department that had this thing would want to let go of it........ The Fire Department has Seagrave pumpers that are 20+ years old with 100,000+ on them.
  16. Unfortunately I will not be able to make Lititz either, but I will be at Trucktoberfest with the 1958 FWD Firetruck.
  17. Well gee, look who crawled out of the woodwork, another one of FWD's disciples......Yer a day late and a few dollars short Ronny!!!
  18. Captain Clarence Over, to the white courtesy phone, Captain Clarence Over to the white courtesy phone!
