  1. All the other rear slack adjusters were fine so didn't need to change them. I already bought and installed my bumper it's the first picture I posted. The pump came from my dad when he had 10 Petercar's so I don't know where he got it. He told me I was welcome to anything I could use but not a whole lot swaps over to a Mack.
  2. Looks like atleast new drums and slack adjusters are needed on the front axle. Out the door more money goes....
  3. That's what I thought. I'm pretty lucky to have found one of the last yr models then. It's frame and cab are in solid shape which is rare but mechanically it'd had a rough life. I'd been looking for a R with a 300 or bigger and camelback so when I found this one I jumped on it.
  4. Thanks for the kind words. Can anyone tell me what the last year of the round headlight R models was? I think it's either '91 or '92 right?
  5. Ha, funny you should say that... I bought the truck in North Louisiana(Winnsboro) and drove it south home. I was passing through the Natchez, Mississippi area and DOT had a tanker pulled over. As I passed by he strained his neck watching me the whole time:)
  6. Thanks for the advice! The truck had a tough life off road the last few years building pond levees so I'm paying for it now. It's kind of a funny story on the trip home with it... I had no seatbelts, couldn't get the seat aired up, had a long shifter(gorilla shifter), red offroad diesel, no insurance, atleast one canister wasn't connected to a slack adjuster and come to find out the owner had signed his other R model over to me on accident. LOL!
  7. Forgot to add that I purchased new spotting mirrors(circle) and new Mack mirrors(rectangle). Also got mudflap brackets for the rear and two Mack mudflaps. I'm sure there is more and I'll add when I think of it or do more work.
  8. Back in April bought the truck and a 1972 Palmer dump trailer to use in my construction business. Since then it's only left the shop once to steam clean it and do some test driving. I've got a small fortune tied up in it but I keep telling myself it's going to be worth it. So far the parts I've purchased: trunnion bushings, fifth wheel bushings, upper and lower isolators, side spacer, torque rods, rear shocks and frame studs with hardware, cab shocks, front shocks, exhaust elbow, stack, exhaust brackets, front axle bumpstop, battery retaining rod, clutch pad, floormats, aluminum foot rest, cb and antenna, 8 recap drive tires, 2 virgin steer tires, 4 aluminum rims for the rear two axles, rebuilt the back axle, fresh fluid and filters throughout, turbo, heads, throttle cable, kill cable, clearance light, steering boot for the firewall, 4 brake drums, 8 brake shoes, 4 spring kits, all new bearings and seals at the rear axles, longer inner nuts, two slack adjusters, 4 S-cams, aluminum half fenders, aluminum hydraulic tank, chrome front bumper, hydraulic pump and plenty more to come. Is there anything else you'll recommend to check before I put it on the road? BTW: The green Mack is my dad's 1987 R686ST.
  9. So you don't think mine will work?
  10. Here's a bumper that I bought for my R that was wrong and I couldn't send it back. The pictures are in the order of center, left and right I believe. It has two bolt holes on the left and two on the right side. How many does yours have? I'm asking $460.00 but am negotiable. If your interested message me.
  11. I've been wondering where/when I could get a sticker like that for awhile!
  12. Hey man I'm going! I can't wait because it's going to be great. I was going to bring "The Mack" but it's not road legal just yet.
  13. I don't know the guy's name but his profile pic was of an old john deere tractor. I don't guess that would be you and you just changed your pic???
  14. I'm from Clinton, LA and am curious where you are located? I know one other guy on here is from North LA around Ruston/Minden.
  15. I'm located in Louisiana and it fits the '91 and newer Macks.
  16. What's the latest update on the truck?
  17. I have a chrome rd bumper for sale. If you think you can make it work I'd like to sell it. Just let me know if your interested.
  18. I have a chrome bumper for an Rd if you think you can make it fit let me know. It has the two holes per side that are verically offset. I'm asking 450 dollars.
  19. I have a 1991 Mack RD690S with camelback suspension. I'm having trouble finding the correct trunnion bushings. My old ones measure 8 inches and some change but Mack and the aftermarket can only fine 4 and 6 inch versions. I have what I believe is 38K rear ends. Does anyone have any ideas?
  20. rfcdrum, I ordered it thinking it would fit and have the same mounting style as you
  21. From doing some research online I think what it fits is the square headlight RD's. I've seen pictures of a very similar bumper on Truckpaper.com mounted on these style trucks as well as a few round headlight R's.
  22. I have the engine, transfer case, transmission and both axles I'd like to sell. I'm asking $1000.00 cash but am flexible if you act soon. I'm not an expert so just know I'm just passing along the info as I understand it. Engine: International 345ci carb v8 Transmission: Torqueflite 3 speed automatic Transfer Case: Dana 20 Axle: Dana 44 rear/ Dana 30 front
  23. The holes are slightly off-center from one another with the bottom of the two being more toward the outside(ends) of the bumper. Top to bottom holes are approx 5 inches center to center. The top two holes (left to right hole) are spaced approx 41.5 inches apart center to center. The bottom two holes (left to right)are spaced approx 43 inches apart center to center.
