Vicki from Florida just called, she said they didn't find anything broken, but they were going to do a cat scan. So we might still leave tomorrow, or we might not. If we do it won't be early, like we had planned.

No, thank you for coming out to meet us. It looks like we're going to be here at least one extra day, Zina's dad fell today and hurt his leg. I don't think he broke his hip or anything, but I'm not a doctor ( I just play one on TV) and we couldn't stay at the Holiday Inn Express because they don't allow dogs, so I'm not sure. They called 911 and they took him to the hospital to check him anyway, because it was hurting where he had hip replacement surgery several years ago. Vicki from Florida hasn't called with any news yet, and they took him about 5:30.

There's a restaurant right here in front of the motel, but I don't even know the name of it. Looks like the do a pretty good binness though.

Zina likes when I post pictures of all the dignitaries I meet. Here's me and a dignitary. Looks like I need to start walking more.

I know the feeling, me and Roman both have separation anxiety. When I have to leave and can't take him, like when I go to the doctor or something, he sits in the window and watches, from the time I leave until I get home.

I called ahead and the parts guy said they only had oxygen sensors for 2 wheel drive vehicles, and all the air fresheners they had left were for manual transmissions.

I remember stopping there a few times too. I guess, there was a truck stop right before you crossed into New York, on the right if you were headed west.
-
That's down on 95, I don't know about them either. I think there was a 76 and one was Secondi Brothers. Or maybe Secondi Brothers was a 76? I don't remember, but I know where you're talking about. There was 2 truck stops and a Kenworth dealership right there together.

Sorry for your loss, dogs are like family. Ours are with us now.

We got gas at the truck stop on the way here. First time I'd been in there in years. I couldn't go any farther because I had to pee bad. Zina lived in an apartment with her sister Vicki from Florida just down past the truck stop a little ways when I knew her in the 80's. Vicki from Florida is up here too, she's staying with friends. Zina's first job was working at that Burger King across the road from the truck stop.

I just looked at Cheshire to see where it was at, and we're not even an inch away on the map.

We're staying at the Days Inn just off 84 on Queen Street in Southington. I think it's Southington anyway. Right across the street from the liquor store. We just got back From Zina's parent's house. I would say we could meet at Sam the Clam's, one of her favorite places here, but I'm still stuffed from the delicious sausage and peppers sammiches her step mom made. We're going back over there tomorrow but not until afternoon. We're going out somewhere now, she wants to go to Bristol for something. But if we're in the area, we're pretty flexible with our schedule.

Sorry to bastardize your post- Bob started it! 🤣 I've been waiting to use that new terminology I just recently learned! 😆

We're still in Connecticut, got here yesterday. We had to come through Fogelsville, Pa. to pick up a suitcase Zina left at the motel in June when we went to Macungie. We're leaving Wednesday.

It probably is - I think if I was going to smoke I would buy a big can of pipe tobacco and learn how to roll my own. They used to sell hand rolling machines and cigarette tobacco at the truck stop in Grayson, Kentucky. Had a little crank on it, you put a paper in, then the tobacco, and just turn the crank. You could roll filter or non filter cigarettes with it.

Everybody around here used to take their radiator to Evans Radiator shop on Camel avenue in Lynchburg, but now they're gone. There was 2 brothers, one ran the radiator shop, the other one ran the store next door. My father in law liked the store because you could get good salted fish there. When I needed to get the radiator on the big green International that runs now fixed there was only 2 places that I found anywhere near here that still worked on radiators, one was in Harrisonburg the other was in Danville. Nowadays on the newer stuff the plastic radiator leaks- put a radiator on it. And the guy I found in Danville was in his 70's or 80's, only worked until noon a few days a week, so you know he's probably not going to be doing it at all too much longer. And, I remember way back when I was young, many years ago, a man said he could fix any radiator if the tubes were leaking, no matter how bad it leaked, and would guarantee it would stop leaking. What he would do is take body putty and press it through around the leak. I never tried it myself, but he said he had done several like that. I can see where it would work though.

Actually she's already asked which truck would be easiest for her to learn to drive- the furniture truck, or the GMC that we don't need and should try to trade for a trailer to haul the big green International that runs now on with the furniture truck. I told her the GMC by far, it runs like a clock and drives like a car.

You're right about that, I didn't like going there when I got paid for it! 🤣 But Zina wants to go see her dad, so I can understand that. Her father is 91 now.

We're a bit closer than you are, but Zina picked this weekend to go to Connecticut. I didn't even realize it was Labor Day weekend at first, I said "who in their right mind would take a road trip to Connecticut on Labor Day weekend?" So, I'm not sure about that "right mind" part, but apparently we're going to Connecticut 😡

Wow, what a coincidence! I never noticed that. I had met Tom Brady before, but he didn't have it then.

That's a good show, I haven't been able to make it for a couple of years. I did get to meet Tom Brady the last time I was there though.

My thoughts on Cracker Barrel- it reminds me of NASCAR, and Bud Light. How, you may ask? I used to go to a lot of NASCAR races, watched them on TV, and when I left on Sunday going up the road I'd always listen to the race. I used to go to both races in Charlotte, Richmond, and Martinsville. If I could get a load to Florida or south I'd go to Rockingham in the truck. I've been to Martinsville for the spring race when it was "standing room only". They said "we promise it won't be like this for the fall race, we're going to add more seats". And they did. There was a 2 year waiting list just to get tickets to Bristol. And then they decided to gimmick it up so much it's a joke anymore. They changed the point system when the old one was fine, they started the "stage racing" nonsense, and put in the "playoff" system. The next thing you know, instead of tracks having to add seats, they're removing seats, and painting seats to look like there's somebody sitting in them when there's not when the TV cameras show them. And Bud Light is good beer, I used to drink it myself, but I had switched before the got a new spokesperson. New spokesperson. They didn't need a new spokesperson, especially one that's going to alienate a large portion of the population right off the bat. And It ended up costing Anheuser Bush millions. Or billions. And we were going to Cracker Barrel in Lynchburg to eat a while back, one Sunday morning, and people were lined up around the building. Looked like they were doing pretty good, the one in Fogelsville was always crowded too. So why do they change anything? It goes back to the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Now they say- whoever "they" are- that Cracker Barrel stock is already dropping, and they've lost millions already. Why can't they just leave things alone?

Exactly right. He had failed the CDL test, he should not have had a CDL in the first place. It doesn't matter where he's from. And the minivan- I know the truck was at fault for attempting to make an illegal U-turn, but the minivan driver had to have some responsibility, from what I could see they appeared to drive right into the side of the van at full speed. I mean it didn't look like they even tried to slow down, swerve, or take any kind of evasive action at all, so the driver might well have been distracted.

Hmmm, no surprises there.
