  1. yeah, I was even going to make a wisecrack about you just trying to get her upstairs, but I can't now, due to my conscience..
  2. no corn liquor, but the wine was-I mean is-delicious! Probably the last home grown tomatoes for the year, mine have been gone but they still had a few they brought in green, before the frost got 'em. They also gave me a couple packages of short ribs out of the freezer (my brother raises a few cows and had one butchered this summer). Might put some turnips in the crock pot with some of the ribs. I'm making myself hungry-better have some leftover turkey and green beans.
  3. Went to Cumberland to see Ma and them today. I got a few turnips out of Dad's turnip patch, some broccoli, tomatoes, and 3 bottles of homemade wine. He had some nice turnips too! I've never had any luck growing them-I'd buy enough turnip seeds to plant 4,000 acres and sow them in a little garden spot and usually about 7 of them would come up. Here's what I made off with today-
  4. Ain't broke down since Monday there Rob, when the fan belt broke. Excuse me, I mean Double L.
  5. Geez, your luck hasn't been too good for a while. Work is slow everywhere too. Seemed like it was picking up some for a while, now i'm back to the "one paycheck away from being broke" situation.
  6. I did some research on the subject and this is what I found-
  7. I see...I did some research on the subject, and this is what I found.
  8. so, in other words, what we're hearing you say is- regardless of what our gf's say- size really does matter, especially when we get older. Understood.
  9. But, again- as I sit here watching this show about the Peterbilt factory in Denton, Texas on the National Geographic channel- as much trouble and down time as i've had with this Peterbilt, none of it's really been a Peterbilt issue. It's been a Caterpillar issue. I haven't taken the truck back to the dealer ever, but it's been to Carter Cat many, many times. And I don't really blame Caterpillar, it's all because of the b.s. gummint emmission restrictions all the engine makers have to meet now. I liked driving that old 5 speed Mack, when every time you changed gears you'd leave a huge cloud of black smoke in the sky!
  10. yeah...it's hilarious!
  11. fix that post-I can't resist, this one's too easy- Now Mike!..that's no way to be talking about Herb!
  12. Actually KWs and Petes are both PACCAR. I always heard that when they finished a KW on the assembly line they made a Peterbilt out of the leftover parts...or was it the other way around? But you're right, it's a hard truck to get comfortable in for me too.
  13. I bet it WAS fun. Mom and Dad bought a brand new '71 Impala 4 door with a 400 small block, 2 bbl. carb.-first brand new car we ever had- and it would go!.. and that was a LARGE car!
  14. I'm glad I wasn't taking a swallow of my drink when I read that-laughed so hard I prolly woulda ruined my keyboard!
  15. absolutely not-i'll clean and armorall it for you. been sitting in the shed for a while.
  16. I'm pretty sure he knew what he was getting, he just wanted everyone to think he was getting a 'vette...the real 'vette that is.
  17. I wish you had contacted me first, i'd have sent you this for only $385.16, shipping included.
  18. I pulled a dump bucket for a while and was always afraid of tipping over, especially with a load of lime. It was bad about sticking and wouldn't come out until the body was all the way up. Sometimes, especially if it was a little wet, it wouldn't come out at all and you had to lower the body and get in and run a shovel a bit to loosen it up then try it again. Plus you had to take it directly to a field sometimes and it was hard to find a level spot to dump it. Larry Wales, a friend who used to live in Massachusets, said he was hauling to Logan Airport in Boston and they used to back up and dump side by side and he'd seen one tip over and hit the next one and they'd turn over like dominoes. He said there are dump trailers under the runway they were building to this day that they just cut the tractor loose from and left there.
  19. I have to agree. Jeff traded the 2000 W900L I was driving for the 2006 Peterbilt, and I wish he had kept it. It never broke down, ran good, had an N14 Cummins in it, and I just liked it better. Plus, a W900 is just a prettier truck in my opinion. Also true, I can't even put any air in the seat or all i'd be able to see would be about 10 feet in front of me!
  20. Me too. I love the old stuff-trucks used to have character. Now they all look alike, like cars. I can't identify most cars anymore until I see the name. You used to be able to tell at a glance what a '65 Impala was, or a Fairlane, or Roadrunner, or Chevette...I remember a guy from high school who was bragging that his parents were gonna get him a 'vette- and they did. A Chevette though, not a Corvette.
