  1. yep, they're pretty sharp about that kind of thing- almost like they have ESPN.
  2. Remember a while back when I said I saw a yellow G-model on rt. 360 in Keysville, Va. and rode over to look at it in the pickup, but it was gone?..nobody? I know Mark remembers because he said he went to Keysville to look too. Well, anyhow, when I was leaving for Moundsville, W.V. with a load of those mats Wednesday Jeff Moore was leaving in his pickup to go to Va. Truck Center. in Roanoke. That's the Mack and Freightliner dealer. He told me I should stop by, they had free hotdogs. I told him no thanks, because the scales right across the street from them might be open. Not worth getting an overweight ticket for a free hotdog. Hotdogs aren't that expensive anyway, and I had a couple of bucks in my pocket. Yesterday he told me they also had some old trucks there, and I could have parked at the truckstop at Troutville and rode with him. Too bad we didn't think of that plan Wednesday, eh? I wasn't too interested in a hotdog, but I do love old trucks. He said there was a bright yellow G-model Mack and an H-model painted in Roadway colors there, plus some more old units on a trailer. He didn't have a camera, and didn't know how to take a picture with his phone. I told him about the G-model I saw, and he filled me in on some background about the Jones brothers. One Jones brother owns Abilene Trucking, out of Richmond. It's called Abilene because they're originally from Abilene, Va. One Jones brother owns Key Truck and equipment in Keysville, where I saw the G-model parked. One Jones brother is a truck salesman for Va. Truck Center. One Jones brother worked for Roadway. They also have this http://www.keystonetractorworks.com/ and that is where the yellow G-model and Roadway H is. I didn't know they had so many trucks there. I knew they had my late friend Gary Barr's Diamond T, he drove for Abilene, but on the museum website they just had tractor pictures.I found some truck pictures on their facebook page- I'm gonna have to go check this museum out soon. I'll see if Mark and David want to go too, we could meet for a hotdog.
  3. I've heard some wild stories about Hunt's Point Market, especially back in the 80's. Don't know how much was true but i'm still afraid to go to New York.
  4. Amen.
  5. .
  6. I used the little magnet antenna that came with the xm, only place it would stick was on the spot mirror over the passenger window and it only cut out in a few spots. It always cut out at Eagle Rock, by the big rock cliff, and at Iron Gate when you go between the mountain and the river. When the antenna finally gave out I cashed in my fuel points at Truck World and got a mirror mount antenna with the big knob on the end. It was only a few dollars more than another magnet type, and it never cut out where the magnet one did. The Sirious in the KW uses the antennas already on the truck, and when I put the xm in the pickup there was nowhere to mount the antenna so I had to buy another magnet type anyway. The antennas cost more than I paid for the radio in the first place.
  7. that's true, i'm only 5' 4", weigh about 120.
  8. He was, he was great. Even if a "kook" did call in he talked to them like they knew what they were talking about, and who knows- maybe they did.
  9. I'm with you on that- cain't see worth a crap at night, especially if i'm meeting another vehicle on a 2 lane road, or if it's raining.
  10. yeah, lot of that, aliens, conspiracy theories, ghosts, paranormal stuff, politics. Lots of what most people would consider "kooks" on there, but it was very entertaining at night and it all made you think "well, what if it's true?" He had guests on that would spell out exactly why this country can not continue on it's present path, and it all made sense. I really liked it.
  11. wait a minute here- on the other hand, I do love some Bruce Springsteen.
  12. Ha-ha, he should have retired the instant the tape stopped turning after he recorded "Born to Run".
  13. I had XM in the Peterbilt, then added the "best of Sirious" package. The KW came with Sirious, just had to call and activate it, but I don't get all the channels I had on XM. I can't get "Coast to Coast AM" anymore, that's what I miss the most.
  14. I like "Born to Run"...so Bruce Springsteen had other records too?
  15. thank you- don't recall ever hearing either of these, but I liked 707.
  16. I do like Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys version of San Antonio Rose.
  17. She even hates "Smoke on the Water"...WTF?
  18. yes, it did. When I saw the 2 stacks I asked him if he had a V8, he said no, he had a little motor.
  19. Yes!!!....all of them-wait, UFO?-never heard of them...or 707.............gee, I forgot about Grand Funk Railroad, and I saw them in concert in Roanoke.
  20. Hey, I went to a small community college at an undiclosed location somewhere in the midwest and stopped in the 24 hr. mini mart regularly to get a pack of non-filtered camels and ended up in the back room banging the hot cashier girl- so what's yer point?..By the way, what's this "Penthouse" of which you speak?
  21. Another argyment... this is B.S. Jo was once again argying about my musical taste- I love "classic rock", much like Herb. I was telling her about how nobody today has real talent, plays an instrument, or does anything that's not electronically enhanced. There's nobody today that can play a keyboard like Keith Emerson, drums like Carl Palmer, or guitar like David Gilmour. Well, except Neal Peart , Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, and more that are still around. But here's the playlist I was playing- some of the greatest songs ever...so I come here to vent...I'll name not all the artists, but everyboby knows them, right? "Us and Them"- maybe the greatest song ever written, eh? "Moving in Stereo" "South City Midnight Lady"- maybe not the best Doobie Brothers song ever, but still a great one. "Fanfare for the Common Man" "From the Beginning"...love that song-maybe the greatest song ever written,eh? "Comfortably Numb" -maybe the greatest song ever written. "Time"-maybe the greatest song ever written. "Silent Lucidity". "Take me to the River"- (Talking Heads, better than Al Green's.) "Someday". "Run Like Hell" "Watchya Gonna Do?" "Ordinary World" Steve Winwood- most anything. And furthermore, Eagles, Earth,Wind,&Fire, CCR, the Stones, Yes, ZZ Top...absolutely no comparison to todays music-and she's older than i'm is and putting this music down...hmmmmph! Your opinions, so I can rub it in her face...
  22. I'm looking for the scrap of paper I wrote them down on...may take a while to find it.
  23. Could be- check it out. Looks like the truck in the left-center of the picture could well indeed be a U-model. I'd never even noticed it before, just saw it when I biggerized my pictures on the computer. It's a hard spot to look much because the only place you can see down there is when you're on the ramp getting onto 60 from 220 just before you get on I-64 and it's a very short merge area too, so you have to be looking at things besides U-models there. Here's some more pictures...none are of U-models however. This looks like a Superliner in the mirror- Yes Olive, he was coming to get me. This looks like a Superliner coming out of the chip mill on rt. 15 north of Dillwyn. Saw a lot of Superliners this week- too bad Vinny's not Superliner nut, I could get pictures much easier. This looks like a red dump truck fueling at the Go-Mart in Fairplain, W.V. Clearing an accident on I-77 in West Virginia. They're unloading whatever was in the mashed van into another trailer. I don't know what happened. This was Monday afternoon and the accident happened around 3 or 4 am, according to the citizen's band radio news. All the northbound traffic was detoured around it while they cleared it. I only saw 2 trucks, this one and a Swift sitting just ahead of it with the front end of it torn up, but I also heard on the citizen's band radio news that 5 or 6 trucks were involved. I took this picture the next day, looks like at least one went through the guard rail and down over the bank. So even when scouting for U-models you have to pay attention to everything else.
