    at least he was smart enough to stay in the truck. I used to work with a man that moved to Virginia from Texas and he told me that where he used to work in Texas a guy got a truck, don't remember what type it was, into some power lines. They were yelling at him to stay put but he panicked and jumped out and was killed instantly.

    Saw a nice looking old Case tractor for sale in Amherst Sunday.Pretty good size one. Didn't have my camera ready so the picture is very blurry.

    I've seen ZZ Top 3 or 4 times, Eagles twice (in the '70's), Pink Floyd once. "Passing Zone Blues" is my favorite trucking song- "I was in the left lane...scraping gears". "If you'll just let me go i'll crank this smokin' Mack...go on home...i'll stay behind...won't try to pass..." And Susanna Hoffs might be the hottest singer ever- naw, she is the hottest singer ever.

    I remember when I could drive all day and most of the night and still feel good...now after 5 hours i'm ready for a nap.

    This B-model's been sitting in the same spot for several years. Randy's back yard? Looks like an R-model dump behind this building. Hard to get a picture driving by, it's a little rusty but it had a great paint job once. It's also been there a long time.

    I have to drive a paccar but I sure don't drive a big truck anymore. I miss those 95 horsepowers and 200 ft. lbs. of torque I don't have anymore too.

      Used to run Johnstown,PA down through Oakland and finish the day in Petersburg,WV. Loved it in summer, not so much in winter.

      That's one of the reasons for my Summer preference. The school bus driver from Maysville that ran rt93 would call out his stops on CH 19, which I thought was a great idea.

    I've often wished i'd bought that '64 C-80 Chevrolet truck that I could have gotten for $500 about 10 or 15 years ago. It had a 348 that the owner said ran like a top, and it was in pretty good shape, just a little rust on the fenders and it was missing the electric 2 speed axle motor. It was pulled into high and secured with a rubber strap but a motor wouldn't have been hard to find. He didn't have a title but said he'd help me get one. That engine was worth the asking price. The owner was a logger and was killed just last week when a tree fell on him.

    that should be stamped on the rear end housing on a flat spot to the left of the the pinion when facing towards the rear. I had to scrape mine with my pocket knife, then scrape it some more before I could see it.

    that's right, you've got OD in the main trans. and the compound.

    It just means that the main trans. is an overdrive transmission. 4th. gear is direct drive, 5th. is overdrive. In the compound you have lo-lo, lo split (underdrive), direct, and high split (overdrive). When you're in 4th. in the main and direct in the compound, that's direct drive. That's why you don't use the compound in 5th. main, you shift from 4th. hi to 5th. hi. 5th. in the main to lo split or direct in the compound would actually be downshifting. 4th. main and hi split in the compound is almost the same ratio as 5th. main and direct in the compound, 5th. main to lo split would be a downshift.

    One of Eddie Murpy's first concert tapes was hilarious- made me laugh every time I listened to it- he used to be funny. I loaned it to someone and have never seen it since. It's the one where he's impersonating Mr.T, Jackie Gleason, Michael Jackson I think...but the Mr. T cracked me up every time, if I listened to it 15 times in a row i'd laugh just as hard the 15th. time.
