  1. I guess not- Va. just elected McCauliffe gov. and he's stuck right up Obama's ass. It was pretty close, 48% to 45.5%. There was a libertarian candidate running too that probably cost Cuccinelli the election, he got 6.6%. He was probably the best candidate running, but I knew it would be a wasted vote. McCauliffe is in favor of obamacare and gay marriage... Here's what we get- more b.s.
  2. Yep, but the morons are the ones who have to go somewhere- anywhere, just to show everybody that they can I guess. I was going north on 77 a few years ago (ok, time to say "oh no, not another one of his stupid stories!") between Ripley an Parkersburg. It was snowing hard and there was already several inches on the road, not a plow truck had been seen. I was motoring along nicely I thought, probably running about 50 mph, keeping up enough speed to get up the hills with no problem. But I was going too slow for the boy in the red Camaro behind me, so he passed and went on out of sight, until I saw him standing outside his car about a mile up the road. He had run off the road and nailed the guardrail nose first, and was just standing there looking. No, I did not stop, never even slowed down. I went on to the truckstop at Mineral Wells, waited a couple hours and went on my way, it had stopped snowing and everything was fine by then. And then there was the time I was headed east on rt.224, just west of Lodi,Ohio. I was empty, been running in snow and freezing rain since I left Fremont. I watched 3 cars in a row come down a hill and spin out at the bottom. But each one watched the others do it before they started down, like they thought "they didn't make it,but i'm sure I can." One spun out in front of me on my side, and I eased between them and the guard rail and went on up the hill. And that's the scariest part, people panic and hit the brakes in front of you and start sliding, completely out of control. You need to stay off the brakes and off the throttle on an icy bridge, hold it straight, and keep enough forward momentum to get across if possible. Almost learned that the hard way, going up rt.23 in Ohio one night. Freezing rain again, and the bridges were slick. I crossed the river before you get to Upper Sandusky and had to accelerate a little to get across and the instant I did the back end slid over to the shoulder, fortunately at the same time I was off the bridge.
  3. Me neither, must be a custom made raised roof? I didn't walk over and take a close look, took the picture from afar.
  4. Nice looking stuff there, all those cabovers looked good, and the Transtar straight truck looked extra good. And the prices I saw didn't seem to be outrageous. There was a Cargostar there with log racks on it too. I might stop and look around again sometime. I had to go load, was parked on the side of the road, and there was no one around. I don't like to snoop around too much when nobody's there. There's another and much bigger place back down at the junction of rt. 45 and 11 that has a lot more trucks but it looks to be mostly newer stuff. It's called West Point Truck Parts I believe.
  5. I just got a cheap one from Wal-Mart a couple of years ago, but it sure beats the rake method I used to use for leaf removal.
  6. I got them ankle deep all over. When they're up to my knees i'll get the leaf blower out and blow them next door.
  7. I don't get it either, I've had people tell me many times "I met you on 460 (or where-ever) the other day and waved at you and you never even saw me, you were looking straight ahead!" I thought that's where I was supposed to be looking.
  8. I left Chester,W.V. yesterday morning and went to load in Alliance,Oh. I took a drive up rt. 45 to see what I could see. I was expecting to see the usual Astro and some IH's, but I thought I saw a U model, so I slowed down...and they were DM's. But there were 3 B models parked in a row, so I slammed on the brakes and pulled over on the shoulder. I went over and took some quick pictures- The one on the right had a quadruplex , the B75 had a triplex, and the yellow B61 had a unishift trans. in it, first one of them i've seen. I didn't really take the time to give them a close look, to see why the one was $5,000 and the other 2 were much less, but the red one had less rust and was more complete, the other 2 had a lot of rust, missing parts like glass, battery boxes, fuel tanks, etc. All restorable, and a lot of good parts still there too. They had another parts truck too. And an MH. There was a truck parked right in front of it, so I couldn't get a good picture of it. A Transtar IH. Thought this was an H model cab inside the fence across the road. There was a crackerbox GMC in there, but I didn't see it until I was pulling away. This is where all these trucks are located, if anybody wanted to call. I have a few more pics. I didn't post too.
  9. I saw your trucks there, saw them in Winchester too. Got pics on the flickr link.
  10. I'll be heading up to Chester, W.V. shortly.
  11. I was going to buy another McLean truck but a guy in front of me bought the one I wanted. It was a cannonball GMC cab, same as the tanker here, with a canvas top trailer. He had the tanker at first, already in the bag, then changed his mind and got the ragtop van. They were only $25. So then I asked about the McLean crackerbox. As soon as the man said "well, that's a hand built model..." I knew I couldn't afford it. He said "I got a hunnert and a half on it, but I will take a hundred." It didn't really look any better or more detailed than the cannon balls though. I left it there.
  12. Almost forgot this one- here's the official BMT group photo taken at high noon.
  13. Got more pictures here- http://www.flickr.com/photos/28526133@N04/
  14. No Fred, I sure don't.
  15. I went to the Colfax show today, pretty good show and excellent weather. I'll put the pictures on flickr or somewhere later, meanwhile here's a few highlights. Saw a parrot- and maybe one of it's offspring... Some fine looking behinds... I'm picking "D" myself. Girl taking a picture of herself in the shiny bumper. Saw a White with a bulldog on the hood. and a gold Granite They had turkey legs available too. I even saw a yellow General that wasn't even in the show. There were no U models seen.
  16. I feel the same 84Superdog, DigDug, DailyDiesel, and 2stacksuperdog- i'm out of likes by the way. And I've said the same thing about my photos, other people use my pictures on facebook all the time. Sometimes they'll say it's my picture, sometimes not, but in the end- it's still just a picture.
  17. Here's another one- no, wait- there's no car...how's this one?
  18. Here's one.
  19. It's an Oshkosh.
  20. All that may be true, however I could not get any identifying info on this truck due to it's high rate of speed. I came up 79 though, and pulled into Triad Metals on Neville Island about 9:15 I believe it was.
  21. Happy birthday Bigen.
  22. I made two rounds this week. Should have been three, but the landing gear malfunction Sunday screwed that up. And it rained all week- so much for a clean truck. But I only had about 6 deadhead miles all week. Unloaded at Neville Island Tuesday morning and went 5 miles to McKees Rocks to load. Unloaded at N.B.Handy in Lynchburg and went a mile to C.R.Hudgins Plating to load for Flex-Strut in Warren, Ohio and reloaded there going back to C.R.Hudgins Plating in Lynchburg. Now I got a van load going to Chester, W.V. for Monday and a return load of firebrick in Alliance, Oh. going to Madison Heights, Va. I was going north on 79 Monday night and a Pitt-Ohio Sterling passed me like I was tied to a stump just before I got to the Neville Island exit. It was a little after 9pm. I was talking to nocluejoe on the phone at the time and we agreed that it couldn't have been green dash because he would have said something on the cb radio communicator device. Anyway, I saw various things on my journeys, like these colorful road shots. A red wrecker truck. A plane in the sky. A bird on a wire. Happy nuts on a trailer... Beaver Steel truck...beaver... Deer stands at N.B.Handy. I told them I was not a hunting expert or anything, but in my opinion they'd have a much better chance of getting a deer if these were in the woods somewhere, by the edge of a field. Nice stands though. Mack mixer trucks. Saw this steep road coming down the mountain that ended at a cliff... Cline trucks. And I saw a well tarped load in my mirror.
