I think Rob bought a water truck out that way somewhere. It was a tan colored R model. He lives in Illinois, I don't know what ever happened to him or the truck. He used to be on here all the time, then he just disappeared for a year or 3, then was back for a while, then disappeared again.

I used to do all my own work on all my vehicles, but now with so much electronics and computers, and sensors, there's only so much you CAN do, so I do pretty much nothing. I don't even change my own oil anymore, when I bought my Impala I got free oil changes and state inspections for as long as I have the car. It's a 2016 with 70- some thousand miles on it. I change the oil in the Ford pickup, put a new brake booster on it, a tail pipe, etc, but that's about it.

I like Have Gun Will Travel, I remember watching that when I was a kid, many years ago. Another western I like is Tales of Wells Fargo. I like Combat! too, but it comes on too late. I don't think it comes on until about 9 or 10 o'clock.

Just about everybody around here went to round bales years ago. When I was a kid, many years ago, everybody put up the small square bales, because that's all there was. Now they have big square bales too, but they're as big as a station wagon. But back then we-my brothers and me- worked in the hay field many a day picking up hay, loading it on a truck, trailer, or wagon, and then stacking it in a hayloft. All by hand. When I was about 17 or 18 I had a guy tell me "if I was as strong as you I'd stand in the highway and stop traffic just to see who I could whip". I could throw a bale of hay up to the top of a load on the truck or wagon with ease. Now I use both hands to pick up a load of bread, but that hard work was good for you, I actually liked getting up hay.

You know Bob, "you only go around once in life"...that used to be on some TV commercial...anyhow, y'all are about like us when we go out to eat. We don't do it that often but I don't mind paying for a great meal once in a while. You're retired now, you need to enjoy life when you can. I'm sure it was a great experience and money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

They're hard to blow after it rains on them, that's for sure. Especially if you have a line of leaves knee deep across the yard- if it rains on the pile you'll need a bulldozer to move them.

No, I can hear people talking a lot, mostly on skip from "way out yonder" somewhere. Heard somebody in Iowa today. But anyhow, I decided that I don't need a radio in that truck. The antenna still hit the ceiling when I parked it on the other side, and when I moved it down to the lower bracket the SWR was totally effed up again. Best I could get was 2.1, 2.3, and that was on channel 40 and channel 1. So if you need to raise the antenna if it's higher on channel 1, I didn't know what to do since it was the same on both 1 and 40. Tried the fiberglass Wilson and it was worse, way worse. I always heard that if it's under 2.0 you're OK, but I couldn't it under 2.0 at all. So I got pis- I mean frustrated, and took everything back out and chunked it in the shed. Looks like this now-

You probably had the big 4 cylinder, the 196 cubic incher, half a 392. I had a tow bar on the front of my '64, and I pulled a few logs with it too. A friend of mine had several maple trees he wanted cut, and they were just across a little creek at the edge of a field. He said I could have them for firewood if I wanted them, and not to even worry about clearing the brush. So I hooked the old Scout behind the old F100, went over and cut the trees, then used the Scout to pull them out into the field where I could cut them up and load the wood easily. I'll post a picture of it the next time I'm on the computer.

I just came to a startling realization, and it made me feel pretty stupid. I just went down town and voted, but I wasn't stupid enough that I voted for Kamala or anything, but on the way home it suddenly occurred to me that if I just parked the big green International that runs now on the other side of the carport the antenna probably wouldn't hit the ceiling. So maybe I should try that before I remount the antenna somewhere else.

One of mine was a '64 with the 3 sticks, but it had the 152 4 cylinder, half a 304. Powerlock rear, it was a going little machine.

Wow, I'm not in the same league as you guys. It's hard to remember, but I'm coming up with 13 cars and 6 pickups, plus several International Scouts that were not licensed and insured for highway use. 4 motorcycles... Oh, and the big green International that runs now.

We've been turning the heat on at night, and have the AC on by afternoon. Zina stays cold. We went to the vets office this morning and she was wearing a winter coat. I had on a short sleeve shirt and shorts. 🤣

Yes, it's a Wilson 2000 with the stainless steel whip. I have a fiberglass Wilson that I can try too. I didn't have time to fool with it today.

I'm back at square one with the antenna. I put the truck back under the carport because we have to have our dog in VA. Beach for eye surgery in the morning, and we're leaving today, as soon as Zina finishes work. It hits the ceiling now in the carport, so I'm going to move it down to the lower arm. I just took the speaker out and left it in the floor for the time being, so I could release the brake.

That's the same model Connex that I used to run. It was a good radio, I used it since the old 2006 Peterbilt says. But when I tried to cram it into the space that was supposedly made for a CB something on the back of it shorted out on something in the hole and smoked it. It was substantially bigger than the Cobra 29 I had in there at first. That's the main reason I bought the Stryker, I saw an ad for it in some trucking magazine and it said it was made smaller just so it would fit in those overhead compartments. It's a nice little radio too, it used to "walk the dog" in the other truck. It's been on the shelf since I retired. I like that it displays the SWR every time you key the mike too.
