  1. I like the Ford blue and white it is now with the black frame, bet a red frame would go nice. My Super has ford fairlane blue on the hood and it has grown on me.
  2. No going to have it lettered, I actually need to find out if who stripped it for Cappello is still doing it, need to get passenger door all redone after it got painted. Think I am going to go with JO'Donnell & Daughters on the doors.
  3. They know I have the truck and have left it pretty much as it was, I do plan on leaving it the colors Chuck painted it with the light blue on the hood, figure everyone knows the truck and it has a nice history in the area.
  4. Hope you feel better Mike, hope your leg clears up!!
  5. Thanks guys for all the nice comments, nice to have others who appreciate these trucks. The days of work are over for this truck, just turned in my commercial plates on fri and waiting for my antique plates. I actually oversee the grounds care on two 18 hole golf courses for a living, I drove trucks for years doing snow plowing and hauling and payed my way through college driving my fathers R-Model so trucks for me are an aquired passion from way back and now with an older family I got to buy my New Girl Friend as its called by my wife.
  6. Went and picked up truck from painter fri, to bad it snowed out nite before and roads all salted. So just spent the last 3hrs washing and cleaning the frame by hand to get all the road grime off and clean it up to see what the paint job came out like. Very happy with the results, also was a good Christmas in my house my wife gave me a new Bostrom seat, the original one from Mack that came with the truck when new and my daughters gave me new bulldog mirrors for the truck and daughters boyfriend gave me new Mack emblems that go on the hoods sides. To say I was surprised is an understatement, that my girls would go to all that to get me those things for my truck with out even asking or hinting at it even coming.
  7. Leslie here are some pics you asked me for I will get you some more when I get the truck later this week. You can see its all welded on flush to the rear frame and braced across the top, the plate is 1/2" steel with the trailer plug tucked in on the right side out of sight.
  8. I bought mine from Mack the rod's where $125 ea so $250 there and we got the right size stock and made the top piece on each post then heated and bent them to match the angle and made up the bottom bracket mounts on the base of each post. They support 10"mufflers with 6" pipes top and bottom.
  9. Its a PPG paint single stage old Mack red, if you want the paint code I can get it for you. If you want to see a better picture of the finished product look at my B-61 in my gallery. The color is realy nice and shines well.
  10. Thanks for all the feedback on the work from everyone!! Here are some pics from my visit to shop on Monday, the tires are back on and the muffler posts, he has the door removed and is fixing the rust on that door and will repaint the whole door, which means I need to re pinstripe. Overall very happy with his work, all the attaching pieces are painted and awaiting first of the year for me to start putting back on.
  11. You can have the tanks soda blasted, that removes the paint and wont pit the finish underneath. Was going to have my tanks done that way to bring back the polished look but just painted them again. They will need to be all buffed out after blasting
  12. Thanks guys for the nice comments, I am very happy with the job so far. The fun will be puting the parts all back on the truck over the course of the winter and get it to shows this coming summer.
  13. Your doing a nice job on yours,,from what I can tell from your pic yours is not as pitted from having all the extras bolted to frame.
  14. Updated pic's of the truck, was at paint shop this morning. I am very happy with the fuel tanks now they stand out against the black cab. The deep pitting under the 5th wheel and a couple other spots will be hidden when those parts go back on, just could not afford to have those areas filled and sanded then painted. But overall happy with the work!!
  15. Welcome to the site, very nice looking truck you have there. a place to look for the steering box when you find out what could fit it will be Global truck parts in NH
  16. Brian never posts a price you need to call him, the truck has a 400 mack in it all redone i believe and a 12 speed. The truck is very clean I have seen it. If I am guessing on price he is over $30, 000 for it based on what he wanted for mine when I bought it from him.
  17. Got to spend a Saturday afternoon teaching my two daughters how to drive my Superliner, they both can drive a stick very well and they wanted to drive my truck,,,,,well that said they caught me at a moment of weakness and I agreed.well after a few times pulling over because they missed the shift they got it and we off to the races,,,,mind you they are not that smooth but was impressed when the oldest one got it from low to high on the splitter and got into 6th on it. The younger did not master that shift, It was fun for them nerve racking for me but they still talk about it and there boy friends can't do it. The picture is of my oldest infront of my fathers.
  18. The prepping and painting of frame and all the parts in the picture that where on the truck almost $5,000. He has four days into just the sandblasting already. I removed all the parts for the fenders, 5th wheel, and head board and tool box's
  19. While truck is in paint shop went and picked up mufflers while they where removed along with there posts. Found some nice 1000 degree paint to paint the mufflers, I like the finished look.
  20. I figured there would be a comment coming on the Cat flaps,,,,lmao,,,Just an FYI for everyone my truck is a Cat 3406 from the factory,,,,,But yes I have new black Mack flaps for the fenders I got from Watt's.
  21. The sandblasting is being done by the painter at his shop, he does everything there. He also has 2 paint booth's to fit trucks into to paint a nice operation. The place is called Canal in Uxbridge Ma. I gave the pipes away, a local guy who hauls material into material in to me saw them in my garage and asked if he could have them last month so I gave them to him.
  22. Thx, I am also going to replace the banged up rear fenders with some new fenders.
  23. Well after a summer of replacing straight pipes for mufflers, and replacing one of the two steering box's, I was finally able to finish removing all the hardware off the frame and send it to the paint shop. Going to paint the frame old Mack red and the rims a silver/gray gloss color. I am also going to paint the tanks red instead of the black they are now.
