Yup Good call bro !Joey IS THE MAN!

10 psi

So before jumping to far ahead here the 7th injector is likley coolant cooled on that truck check that before condemning the thing! also the egr is controlled by the dpf on the egr tube if its polluted with coolant It will command the valve open if the cooler is restricted! Being deleted we don't know what they have done to this programing! Remove the egr hose front of the EGR cooler first cause its easy If it is soaked you have your answer ! Then check the injector, if the cooler is OK!

SWEET Looking unit! RDSX?
-
This here is the most odd post for me ! We have in our yard a fire truck converted into a food truck ! It is almost identical in spec! The engine in the unit we have had a leaky liner and took out the bearings by being run with water in the base a real shame The guy bought it for 15000 4 years ago if that gives you an idea for its worth! Unfortunately He put 15000 in grilles and cooking equipment into it then the motor createred !
-
I got to think you need to do the air in fuel test after the engine is warm I would lean to cups as you are thinking there( How ever) there can be other issues as mentioned sticking VGT when warm , EGR Valve commanded open due to low EGR Flow readings . This engine being deleted we have no idea what the program is doing in that area? Try unplugging the EGR valve and see if this changes your situation!
-
yup i must agree 38 psi is way to aggressive to much fuel ! Its Either tuned up or something is a miss in the governor! I have seen the fuel stops fall off on the ambac pumps which would cause this little engine to perform like a race car! A turned up e6 will self destruct in short order by breaking main bolts or cracking the block at Number 4-5 main if left like this! I Guess pulling the pump is highly recommended with that view on it!
-
Don't pull the pump till you check the easy and cheap, stuff puff limiter, make sure the tank vents arn't clogged ,,change them fuel filters as mentioned is it rob bosch or AMBAC?
-
Yup you have to by a new truck if you want a new practical connection!

Mack 44,000 differential carrier side cover o-ring
fjh replied to mackone's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Yup what he said! 😇 4:17 4:42 ratio? Check the gears set for wear! these ratios tend to pit out bad if you haul lots of weight! Also if the unit has a lateral torque rod to the frame check the bolts inside as stated ! the housings also tend to crack in that area when equipped with this torque rod! not too much a guy can do but pull the diff and weld it if this happens! -
Good call Ony ! This comment applys To the newer vehicle's specially! The magic transmissions and after treatment crap needs dri air to operate correctly We see more failures to the 7th injector dowser modules attributed to water than almost any other failure on the after treatment setup ! and the stuff aint cheep!

Mike is the tach showing RPM? Just wonder if your chasing the wrong thing here Fuel transfer pump comes to mind! just saying!
-
The rocker arm assembly must be removed check them ALL! There is a special tool made to hold the slave While repairing it however you can get by with some aluminum soft jaws in a vice!
-
Mack pros got a point! To the un trained eye I the engine brake slaves would not be easily noticed! You claimed to of done a valve set did you adjust much on the 1-6 we usually catch this issue when doing a valve set It shows up as a real tight engine brake set on the offending cyls! Also it is possible you got some pin fretting or rotten wire on those two injectors causing the codes ! possibly unrelated to the noise! Just sayin
-
Also if you have clunks and you have steel bud wheels pull those wheels and look for broken rims!
-
Is the check engine light on? Is the suspension dumped? M Drive? Manual trans? You need to give info if you want answers!
-
Also bare in mind there are available oversized liners you need to watch for this When ordering parts ! the liners are etched with The part number the last digits ending P5 p10 ect being the oversized number! The liner should be a slide fit for the first 2/3 of the way down then a semi aggressive fit last 1/3!you may need a wooden block for the last little bit to seat them!
-
clean and dri shaft and plug reinstall with red locktight!
-
Hi welcome to the site! Behind the the panel where the buttons are there is a switch with three terminals on it on the park button that switch is likey your issue it lets the brake lights work spring brakes applied and treadle goes thru it when the springs are released!
-
I appreciate what your saying ! BUT ! What it comes down to is who has bought in to what! Doc bought in you trusted in what the doc had to say you got the shot! he was being told by his pears that its the thing to do so he's passing on what he was told to his patients we can believe or not believe what's in the media and what's going on in the rest of the world Is IT Fake news ! duno However I got the shots ! The hospitals are swamped they are canceling surgery's (Apparently ) again are the rest of the people lying to us as well? Duno! I would like to have a spot in the hospital when I have my Jammer! If the hospital is filled up with covid people and Fentanyl victims I might not have that chance! so more precautions we take the better chance We have of having a spot to have other urgent issues to be addressed! Most of us don't think twice when the doctors tell us to go to the drugs store and pick up a prescription For our ailments so what is so different Here?? This here Is A (Possible) preventative Measure to keep the bulk of the people out of the hospital! I personally Have Bought in! I can't take the chance in my mind of being sick with this crap, JoeyMack has had it he can tell ya how he's feeling still not the greatest! It seems to be effecting people differently some and some Not At all! just my opinion!

Older Mack engines
fjh replied to Dale smith's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
When the E9 was introduced I was offered in a 400 hp maxidyne Version there was no change in oil pressure no physical changes to the engine other than the fuel pump and turbo! These would pull there asses off right down to 1000 RPM you could use a 9 speed transmission behind them ! I believe that they did away with this concept for emission reasons due to the smoke! (opinion) If they had VGT back in the day imagine the power and fuel efficiency if they were able to dial up the air to burn that extra fuel properly ! As soon as they dropped the use of maxidyne they increased the RPM and HP to 440 then 450 then 500 all had a far less rpm range and had to have a multi speed trans to keep them in the zone for power and efficiency! That said The maxidyne theroy only worked for a bit longer In the E6 Lineup for a few years after this before they converted to econodyne again the engine needed the multi speed Trans and the higher RPMs because of the smaller working range ! All of these changes were all gifted to us By the What is now Known as the EPA ! just a mix of observation and opinion! -
At the End of the day you still got to look at the normal stuff checking to see if air is being trapped in the service chamber This happens on normal drum brakes as well have see the modulator valves stick and hold air on one wheel from time to time! I have very little experience with these disc brake set ups how ever I have seen enough of them to know that they have a place in the system over the road they are a good concept ! For logging and heavy haul not so great, for garbage collection not so great !in an off road situation these tend to wear to quickly and break rotors ! In the packer biz these pads wear out fast and not cheap to replace ! Once these become more main stream the price may come down how ever for now I personally would not have them on my vehicle! The other down side to all this is the manufacturers has left no easy way for a person to check pad wear with out pulling the wheels ! this here in my mind is a huge safety concern ! Just my opinion!
-
You won't regret putting the fuller in ! ( My opinion) The 18 may be less work fab wise how ever you will only fab once! 2180 You may have the back section off several times if your unlucky! at 3000 - to 5000 a pop adds up fast ! I have seen these last a long time, I have seen them fail quite a bit more often! Just sayin! Your call!

Copying 460XT Tune from one truck to another
fjh replied to mattpete105's topic in Engine and Transmission
Unfortunately the companys are required to make things as fool proof as possible There are 3 Letters to describe the ISSUE EPA ! Big three got slapped with a fine for dual mapping fuel systems back in the 90s ! VW pulled it off up till recently till they got there asses kicked a few years back! every one was up in the air about that one even thou our own makers had tried it earlier and got their hands slapped! The Germans fix this thou they bought up Detroit diesel ! just like the Sweeds buying up Mack! how ever the reasoning was likely different ! Volvo bought the name for sales purposes Me thinks! -
GUYS ! Were Way off topic ! Sorry I brought Elon up! Just joking around . We won't need any of this stuff soon if you believe in Star trek we will have transporters soon! BEAM ME OUT SCOTTY! 😂 Just sayin
