  1. Bill, I have not seen any one add electronic fuel injestion to a 707, however I have seen new dual carbs added that were much more efficient than the original zenith carb. I think they added dual carb weber set up. It also had a new aluminum manifold, reminded me of an old offenhauser six cylinder carb conversion. I think the fuel injection would work, and wonder if you could use some of the Mack diesel fuel injection pump assembly (modified for proper amount of fuel delvery) on the gas 707. Firemack
  2. George I used Mark Buber Carb rebuilder in Phoneix AZ, our Mack has an updraft that never ran right, I suspected a bad accelerator pump, they bench tested and confirmed it, rebuilt it and runs better than it ever ran, according to our members that drove it when new. Contact Info is: Mark Buber 3116 East Shea Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85028 602-971-3300 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Rebuilt carburetors and carburetor kits from 1925 to 1965 Cost is between $200-$400 depending on what needs to be repaired. Also send me a personal email about the pump, I have a QL75 that should be the right pump for your truck. Can you post the pictures of the new west coast mirrors you mounted. Firemack
  3. Larry Looks nice, It would be great if you could bring it to Macungie, lots of guys would like to see it up close. Matt Pfahl also did a sleeper addition to his Mack tractor, but not sure how he connected the cab and sleeper. Firemack
  4. BIGEN, Good luck we are all wishing you and your wife the best, have a safe trip, Firemack
  5. Mark We captured Purto Rico and is now a US Territory, you can read the info from Rowdy Rebel on the status and government of Purto Rico. I have visited several times for work and pleasure and there is a large contingent of US Citizens on the island (including US Military bases etc.). Also as you can see from some of the pictures posted on this site there is a large contingent of Mack trucks working on the island, so I would conside this island Mack- friendly! Firemack
  6. KWF Contact Cal Little 717-566-8973. He has 707 engine parts, and if not he knows where you can get it. Firemack
  7. Now that guy should have had his priorities straight from the start!
  8. Nice job, Keep us posted on progress with more pictures Firemack
  9. This came in my email today and thought it would be a good post, to remind us of why we need to vote! A DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of 'why' our country is in trouble: 1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!) 2. I got a call from a Kansas Congressman's (Moore) staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ''I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts .....'' Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained,''Cape Cod is in Massachusetts , Capetown is in Africa '' his response -- click. 3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, 'don't lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!'' (OMG) 4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife (Landra Reid) who asked, ''Is it possible to see England from Canada ?'' I said, ''No.'' She said, ''But they look so close on the map.'' (OMG, again!) 5. An aide for a cabinet member(Janet Napolitano) once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas . I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas . When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, ''I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.'' (Aghhhh) 6. An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 a.m., and got to Chicago at 8:33 a.m. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois , but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that. 7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ''Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?'' I said, 'No, why do you ask?' He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!'' After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage. 8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, ''Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii ?'' 9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman, Bobby Bright from Ala who asked, ''How do I know which plane to get on?'' I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ''I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have that number on them.'' 10. Senator Dianne Feinstein called and said, ''I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola , Florida . Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?'' I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola , FL on a commuter plane. She said, ''Yeah, whatever, smarty!'' 11. Mary Landrieu , La. Senator called and had a question about the documents she needed in order to fly to China . After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. 'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those.'' I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told her this she said, ''Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!'' 12. A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make reservations, ''I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .'' I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ''Are you sure that's the name of the town?'' 'Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man. After some searching, I came back with, ''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere." ''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!'' So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ''You don't mean Buffalo , do you?'' The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.'' Now you know why the Government is in the shape that it's in! Could anyone be this DUMB? YES, THEY WALK AMONG US, ARE IN POLITICS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BREED.. I don't write it, I just offer it for your consideration. Like manure, you just gotta spread it around
  10. Bob, Do you have Harvey Eckarts CF Book? It is a good reference book for your research, and you should also contact the Mack museum. Firemack
  11. Bulldogboy, That is cool that you found that ad, I did not know it was advertised in Fire Engineering, I saw an ad from PA Fireman, can you scan a copy of that page and email it to me? We sold the truck to Rockingham Vermont in April 1973 for $3575, we bought it back in July 2002 for $4250. I had some members complain that we spent more on it than we sold it for. If you figure the cost to store the truck for 29 years, it cost us $23.75 per year, or about $2/ month. I don't think we could have found a better price on a storage garage for 29 years! Firemack
  12. FXfymn Sounds like a call to the Mack museum would be a good idea, thye sometimes can find the original vendor and I have sometimes found that part is still available from the vendor. Firemack
  13. Carl Sounds like a lazy parts guys at your Napa, my Napa keeps a small box with an assortment of sizes of copper washers that I used on the Mack for the brake job. If you need to get the part number let me know, I have a few spares that I can use to match up if you can't get the guy there to pull out the small assortment box in your Napa store. Firemack
  14. TNISS The owners wife needs to first request a duplicate PA title, you need to take the vin number into a tag service and they can run that for you, or you can go the PA DMV website and request duplicate title, once you have the title then if she has power of attorney for thr husband may be able to sign it and then transfer it to your friend. If she does not have power of attorney then will most likely have the re-issue the title in her name then can sell it/transfer it to your friend. You may need to ask your state rep what the rule is or a lawyer to clarify how she can sign the title for the deceased husband. Firemack

  16. I heard there may be a 100th Mack Fire Truck Anniversary at Gerharts in Lititz, if I hear more will post that. Firemack
  17. Stev, They only had single axle tractors, I don't remember any tandems in the Smith fleet. Firemack
  18. I was cleaning out another MH612 and found 5 2008 Ralph Smith calendars featuring the MH. All but one were damaged from weather etc. I was able to get one apart without damaging the picture. This was a great shot of the MH612 with the gorgeous chrome horse trailer. As you can tell from the picture the Smith's were very proud of their trucks and had ordered many Macks starting from the early bulldog Macks. They hauled many of the most famous race horses to racetracks all over the country. My MH is 25 years old but was well maintained so makes a good tractor for my needs- to haul the B75 Mack Pumper to the Mancungie, Harrisburg Spaamfaa and Gerhart shows. I am working on the lowboy this week, getting it registered and inspected. I am still looking for a pony motor to use instead of adding a wetline to MH612. If anyone has one for sale let me know. 19. Fairplay, I replaced both the speedo and tach cable on the B75F, Barry at Watts Mack has a local supplier the cuts the cable to length. If you send the old cable casing in can either add a new cable to your casing (if ok to do so) or will build you a new cable and casing to the exact size of the sample you send them. You can send it Watts Mack attention Barry, and can call Barry if you have any questions. Firemack
  20. Nice job on the shutters, they look great, the aluminum really polishes up nicely, I polished up the aluminum and then clear coated to keep it from oxidizing. What was causing the tach to bounce- the cable or the tach itself? Firemack
  21. Mack 31, Try the SPAAMFAA website classified- or you might want to attend the big SPAAMFAA/Union Historical flea market called Snowmelt in early April in Allentown. That is the best place to find old Fire fighting equipment. Firemack
  22. 54 mack, Welcome-There is planty of help on this site. I restored our 1954 B75, so may be able to help, it has a gas 464, so not much help with your diesel issues, but lots of diesel experts here can recommend a good rebulder for your pump. One of the first things we always recommend is to contact the Mack museum in Allentown, PA and provide them your serial number, and a donation ($100-200) to cover the research and making copies of your trucks original build sheets/photos etc. and sometimes they have the operators manuals etc. This is probably one of the best investments you can make if you are going to keep the truck as it has all of the original build info- part numbers etc. Good luck with your truck and enjoy the ride! PS if you have the hard sleeves still on your Donor firetruck truck let me know, I am still looking for an original Mack set for B model firetruck. Firemack
  23. Rob, I spoke to Art that does all of John Haines restorations, and he sets up John's antique B61 to haul the antiques to Macungie and Lititz. I asked him how I should register my MH612 to haul the B75. He told me that legally the anique tractor is not to haul any load (antiques or not), however just as what most guys have said here - that the PA State Police are not after the trucks with antique plates as they know they are only used on weekends etc, and if you have your CDL and proper paperwork I don't expect you will have any problems here in PA, especially because it's a MACK! Sorry you won't be passing down this way you could stop in for some of the famous PA roadkill at the local roadkill cafe, but make sure to have a PA Yeungling beer when you stop in PA. Firemack
  24. George Malvern's B75 Open cab has West Coast Mirrors and they did a nice job mounting them. (see the 2 B75's together- Radnor's with original mirrors on the left and Malvern's with West Coast mirrors). When mounting the West Coast mirrors- The bottom bracket is standard, the top bracket is modified with a curved/angled bracket to mount at the top of the vent window with 3 bolt holes into the door, to make a sturdy mirror attachment. I have a picture of the mirror details for Malvern's B75 , but have similar picture of the closed cab version on a B85, the only difference is the curved bracket is mounted on on the vent window side. I will scan it if you need it. I personally like the Mack mirrors on this B85 better than the standard generic mirrors on Malvern's B75. The L model door is slightly more vertical, but has the same curved section at the top. Firemack
  25. Fxfymn, The engine number for the 510 is located on the right side of the engine next to the water pump. Firemack
