  1. Nice, all around most favorite off highway truck series, to bad the "AP" was so short lived Rick (AP40rocktruck)
  2. Well a mess of mud can easily be over looked by a mess of cash!!! Rick
  3. Thanks to everyone's kind words on my model WHDX-1000. One of these days i will get around to putting the decals on for Arbegui. Then maybe build one of the larger units witht he Cummins VT-1710 & Mack Planidrives. Back to pushing snow Rick
  4. By 'us rednecks" i am one as well, I just chose to pay attention to the details of posting, like grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and all the other aspects of our language as passed on to us in school by the teachers & educators who do there very best at a up hill battle. Face it our golden country here in the United States of America has been on a steady path of taking the lazy route to everything, using slang & text spelling in everyday communications. More so than here, but i find it on so many other "professional" forums. Sadly, to get a good idea of where all the stupid, lazy, take every short cut path we are on, sit down and watch the movie "Idiocracy" . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy As a note to spelling, all those little red squiggly lines that appear under misspelled words is the computer telling you it is incorrect. Wave you mouse over the highlighted line & right click it for spelling options & corrections. RM
  5. Yes, Floor's FTF. http://www.ftftrucks.com/nw-23900/nieuws Informative site, with links to more reading on the history. Rick
  6. Just remember in all this, You can't fix Stupid, Lazy, Ignorant or Redneck Rick
  7. This DM looks to be very similar to those that were built under licence by FTF or Floor of Holland. Their trademark was teh re-powering of everything with green leakers. Rick
  8. So do you feel better after a rant, P&M, B&W......we still live, work & play in imperfect world, just accept it & move on. ................................
  9. The I-shift (also called the M-drive) has some rather peculilar quirks. Saw one I-shift where the drive ran for 400 miles or so with rear air suspension air bags over inflated, when we were told by E-service to drain the fluid, and along with the fluid there were bits of alloy "vanes". Later had another one in a VNL chassis, D-16, 550 hp, used to haul "farm liquid", this one had a mind of it's own when the "eco-roll" was in use. Rig would up shift & down shift as designed (ecoroll will skip gears to optimize torque & power) BUT when coming to a stop, it would let you, then with the foot on the brake, the unit would take off & power thru the intersection... Rick
  10. Nice shots of the WHDX-1000. And so of us are nuts enough to scratch build one of the 4 units in 1/24 scale. Namely one of the smaller units with the DDC 16V-71 & Clark BD-91000 rear axles....... Originally I built the model in 1997 working from 7 photographs & had 2 known dimensions. Rick
  11. Volume 2 of the new book series "Oversize" by Mark Wayman is out. If any of you have volume 1 this book is a must have companion. Now printed in USA, the photos are as crisp & clean as any other. Soft bound & full color. The best place to buy this here in the states is direct from the publisher, Buffalo Road Imports, here is the link; http://www.constructionscalemodels.com/productdetail.aspx?recid=17193 enjoy Rick
  12. Fantastic, on the F-900SX of Transmosa, was that a factory build or customer re-build? Rick
  13. Byran, The middle photo is quite the truck, 5 hole steel discs up front & spokes in the rear, low sided heavy box with a off highway type automatic tailgate, then a shiny box cover. The colors look like a Mauro mix, I like the way is sits up in the front. Rick
  14. The 1st HET as pictured in the beginning of this thread was powered by the ever dependable 8V-92T, when Penske took over DDC & the 4 stroke joke Series 60 was introduced as a replacement for the 2 strokes, the HET was re-designed to accommodate the much longer engine with out change or compromise to the existing cab design. So the rad was pushed out & this was the result. Shortly after the introduction with the Series 60 power plant, OTC began the next re-design to meet the needs of the British Royal Army, and the result was the UK-HET, which has become the global standard production HET. This newest version features the C-18 Cat engine (and yes sadly too much computer crap) and is available in both the 8x8 & 6x6 versions. All are manufactured at the Oshkosh plant in Wisconsin, where both left hand & right hand drive units follow each other down the line. Here is a shot of 2 current production HET's outside the plant in 2012. Rick
  15. Most of the units that are being sold off really are surplus, they have been re-manned at least once. This week there is a steady stream of HEMMT's, rolling thru the Oshkosh plant getting a full reman & the old reliable 8V-92T are re-manned as well & going right back in. Rick
  16. Well isn't that just a beastly road clearing front end... Great find Bryan! Rick
  17. The HET in the photos are early US DOD spec, 500 hp DDC 8V-92TTA, with a Allison 6 speed CLT-754 The current production (both US DOD & UK-HET) have the 750 hp Cat C-18. These are easy so spot with the longer & rounded hood. Rick
  18. Rob, So what is that super cool color???? I do get a kick out of seeing fleets have a full on paint scheme or color applied to all the equipment. Rick
  19. Now these are the photos for those of us who are also scale modelers! Thanks for posting! Rick
