I think the ribs are done but I brought them in and put them in the oven anyway. I serve no swine before it's time. Zina tried some and said they were delicious. I'm still drinking a delicious cold Miller Lite and watching the exciting motion picture, called "Fall".

you sure put the pressure on with those pictures LOL being an old fashion Polish Catholic boy who gives up meat for Lent!! LOL I'll  go back to my tofu! LOL

The ones that I marinated in ginger ale and orange juice didn't really take on the flavor of either one, they actually tasted pretty bland. I'm going back to the regular rib routine - peel the membrane, coat it with the rub, put it in the smoker. They're always good.

The weather is beautiful today, eh? (That's Canadian, I learned it watching Highway Thru Hell. I love that show, I had many episodes saved from the Weather Channel that I watched, then I watched some on Tubi, now I'm watching it on the Roku channel. I don't know if you can still watch new episodes around these parts or not. I'm not sure they're even still filming it, but I think they are.) Anyhow, I didn't know whether to put this on the weather thread, the cooking thread, or pictures of the week.

I put a pork loin on the smoker because it was so nice outside I thought I should be sitting outside smoking something, whether it needed it or not. Zina's at the bingo playing place playing bingo.

The cows in the field were looking at me funny, but I told them it was pork.

Some years ago I decided that for some dumb reason that pork belly marinated in Dr Pepper would be the go

This gets even dumber, Dr Pepper isn't really available in Australia and I have never tasted it in my life 

So I  have no idea were, when or why this idea popped into my peanut of a brain, but it did and bugger me, I was gunna do it 

So I ordered on line Dr Pepper that arrived all okay in small funny sized cans

I then soaked/marinated the pork belly in Dr Pepper for a day

Then popped the whole shooting (Dr Pepper and Pork belly) match into the slow cooker for the day

Visualising my success, I retrieved said pork belly that was resolving like pulled pork of deal 

And much to my surprise, it was as bland and dry and horrible as you could imagine 

It was crap, anyway, made up a bit of a gravey type of deal with the Dr Pepper that came from the slow cooker 

Didn't really help

A few lessons I have learnt 

Spam doesn't fail me like this, ever.....

Juat because I imagine something will cook and taste good, doesn't mean it actually does

I have no idea about cooking 

Don't try this type of experimentation with the Princess around as she will announce to all and sundry how I stuffed it up

And finally, if Miss Molly the border collie won't touch it, it's bad 

And Dr Pepper isn't as nice as I thought it would be, even if I add Bourbon and ice ha ha

Not to be taking away from the original concept of the story of marinating meat in Dr. Pepper, about the only thing I've found that Dr. Pepper is good used as a mixer in is Kraken rum. It's very good😊
