Try owning a Marmon! "who makes Marmon?"

Me: Marmon makes Marmon

Other person: Yeah, but what company owns Marmon?

Me Marmon Group

Yeah but who owns them?

I give up.

another "for lack of explanation/words" story = try working at a Mack dealership ,going on almost every road call to hear "why does a Mack dealership have a Diamond T wrecker ?"  you just give up  trying to give answers. the temptation was there to remove the Diamond T front logo and install a Mack emblem. fortunately with the major help from a great co-worker ++Doug Allen ; we talked management into update the Diamond to a good used B model.

I get the same question at shows with my 1949 Diamond T 201 pick up..

Who made Diamond T???

Thus a long history lesson of how Charles Tilt started in 1905 up thru White's merger of DT and REO in 1967. A few have heard of Diamond REOs so that helps.

Geoff, You are entirely correct, Up until White bought them out!!! Diamond T had the Murty Bros design the low cab forward tilt cab city tractor and International liked it so much they bought the rights to it from DT. But then had DT do a "Two Story Falcon" job on it and it became the Emeryville.. Here is a picture of the prototype with Diamond T badges taken at the Diamond T plant.. The glass brick windows are the same as in many DT factory and sales information.

Even the name deserved respect ::DIAMOND T , then and now. what a beautiful piece of history.

Actually the Diamond T name came from Charles Tilt's father who owned a shoe factory. The diamond stood for quality and the T for the name Tilt.
