I know this is a Mack forum but I’ve seen some posts about Autocars on here. I just recently got a 1986 DK64 triaxle and for the life of me can’t find the high beam switch. It’s not on the column or on the floor. Maybe something was changed over the years by a previous owner? I’m not sure. If anyone has a idea I’d appreciate it!

86 should still be on the floor........BUT. the switch probably fell apart  and a previous owner just eliminated it and stuck a jumper wire in the plug to turn headlights on .

look around the driver side kick panel for a 3  pin dimmer switch plug, one pin on top, two on bottom

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

Oh, I almost forgot about the floor buttons. I don’t know why they took them off the floor because sometimes both your hands are busy when somebody comes up and you have to hit them down kick switch a lot more effective you know how much shit do you need on your turn signal switch

Ok I’ll see if I can find anything tucked up anywhere. I figured I’d ask around before going crazy trying to figure it out. Thanks for the help.

Agreed! I don’t why they got rid of the floor switches, cars or trucks lol. Now there’s 300 different functions on one stalk lol.

Both my 9670's had them on the floor, and lasted as long as I had the trucks, hit with a little WD-40 if they sat for a while, the water dispersing quality of that product does well here.

"92 Marmon had on the turn signal stalk, when it went bad, it went on the floor, eliminated a relay and was more "ergonomic" to have it on the floor.

As with most "tilt-tele" steering columns, the turn signal switch was below the "tilt joint" meaning you had to reach down for it. Not a big problem for the turn signal, as you know you are going to use it, but fumbling when a car comes over a hill to dim was more of a problem.

I am of a generation that it was on the floor, and that is where I like it, even though vehicle have had it on the column for 40 years or more.

Our Cruiseliner has the heqdlight switch on the floor. It is the only vehicle I have ever owned with this set up.Takes a bit of getting use to but then we dont take it out much in the dark.It also has a stalk switch on the dash to flash the headlights.Being able to flash the lights is a leagle requirment over here......

I did have one fall apart on me one morning, not quite daylight middle of a canyon full of curves of course they were stuck on High luckily it was breaking daylight and very light traffic coming at me had to keep turning off the lights completely. When there was somebody cominglol true story and yes pictures  would be nice if you’re new on here sometimes they’re tricky to post … bob

I’ll see if I can get some pictures tomorrow. I was looking around earlier today and don’t see any evidence of it ever being on the floor. It has just a series 900 turn signal stalk but it could have been replaced at some point. It’s wired for high means on all the time I found out today. I didn’t have a lot of time to mess with it today so for now that’s how it stays. There’s a lot of quirks I’ve been working out with it since getting it, dump trucks seem to be some of the worse for half ass repairs and incorrectly wired messes.

What do you expect from people who are always getting loaded and getting dumped?

You need a Signal Stat 905 model with Hi/Low beam button in end of stalk.  I have the Autocar wiring diagram depicting this but can't seem to get it uploaded here. You can send me an email at    dencmp@outlook.com   and I'll send you the wiring diagram for late model ACars such as yours. For further info and questions try the Classic Autocar Truck Group over on face book. They even sell Autocar logoed mud flaps and floor mats.
