Fellas, I’m curious if anyone has a picture of their rear mount PTO set up? I have acquired one for my six speed and have everything working but my original PTO was on passenger side and my main air tank is on the driver side. The rear mount PTO looks like it has to have pump on drivers side as well unless I am missing something. Any ideas or pics on the right way to setup PTO drive shaft to remote pump would be awesome.

the rear mount P T O on a 6 speed runs off the lower counter shaft  which is basically in center  bottom. driveshaft runs straight back.  side mount pto's run off higher side mount; which on the 6 speed had to have main stick in a gear suitable for pto operation while aux in neutral. purpose of rear mount enabled truck to creep slowly while dump was able to feed a spreader box sufficiently. how the pump itself is set up depends on how good some one is with a welder to fabricate a suitable mount bracket.

I;ve done a number of rear PTO's ; don't remember tank relocating. ? might have .don't recall. 45-?? yrs ago. possible to post a few pictures of your unit looking from first drive to transmission?  seems there are units having large main air tank  which bend into center. can two tank brackets be reversed to place air tank out further or fuel tank is there? depending on hose set up on hyd pump; mounting pump favoring passenger side having slight angle to pto driveshaft? how long pto shaft or you figuring also is a factor. as  stated many times ; pictures help in responses.

thanks for pictures. fuel tank won't give much more room for air tank to swing out and those brackets can't be reversed. with idea of leaving tank there ;;1= air lines long enough to slide tank back further ? 2- cut a notch in flange of air tank brackets just top of bend ,basically moving air tank out towards fuel tank reweld brackets . how much clearance is needed for pump mounting ? moving air tank to right side  lot of work . right side appears to be wide open; make up a pump bracket with shaft slight angle seems acceptable . nice shop set up also,

here is a pic of tank setup prior to stripping truck down

Just put spacers between the air tank brackets and the frame.  That's what we did on our 95.  Or you can cut a V out of the brackets, fold the tank out to close the V's and reweld.

Thank you, we have a few gravel trucks so it was very useful until I tore this one down.lol.

Im in line with you as well. I think moving the tank to the other side might be more work than I really want to do unless it’s the only option. When I get my axle back from my differential guy I’m gonna either slide tank back or modify brackets.

Do you have any pictures of this setup?

I would go with cut the V in brackets as I mentioned earlier, reweld the cut ; if need be plate the  bracket  for more strength.  a technical version   is to  calculate air volume in the one tank (which is actually 2 tanks in one ) then acquire two individual tanks of same or greater volume mass  install in chassis. Don't want to go that route unless absolutely  necessary, yes it's been done. your unit with one large tank has a divider internally .

Can he use the torpedo tanks from a Freightliner C-120 truck, like a Century or Columbia?

yes; if total volume is correct. But that changing tanks could be more of a hassle. the one large tank the picture shows should be a combo wet/ dry tank, relocating proper lines to two tanks a challenge, another question I ponder is :: don't really know what chassis is being worked on since no full model was given or a full length picture. is this a  R6-- T / R6-- ST?   based on one picture looks to be a rear helper spring set up == single axle. part of description states " when I get my axle back from the  differential guy " = possibly rear end being worked on?  single axle one fuel  tank ? right side open ? is a hyd tank also being mounted ? this ending up as single axle dump or tractor ? usually a 6 in channel iron 90 bend holds a pto pump. hope this topic keeps BMT crew updated with progress.
