Popular Post mrsmackpaul Posted August 4, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted August 4, 2023 Okay, so both of these have new wires I gather If thats the case back to basics You need a test lamp, not a multimeter or any fangled thing Anything other than a test lamp is only helpful to someone that knows about and is trained in electricity, if you don't a have a full a proper understanding your wasting your time with a multimeter, digital is even worse Right a test lamp like this Simple, basic and old school Start at the battery and perform the most important test, test the test lamp Then one lead on the positive, test to the frame of the truck, it should light up Then to the cab, it should light up You need to scratch a bit of paint off to make a good connection, choose somewhere not obvious Once you have established the cab is grounded, test as close to the fuse panel as you can to prove the ground to somewhere around the fuse panel on the cab, once this ground is established Take the aligator clip off the battery positive and clamp it to that ground Then with probe end of the test lamp, see if you have any power at the fuse panel Then report back with your findings and maybe a photo or two describing your findings And if you get anything thats a bit suss or iffy, take a step back prove the test lamp again and start again, electricity is either on or off, no in between so a dicky reading tells you your lamp alligator clip might not be grounded properly or something has changed Paul 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
609albert Posted August 5, 2023 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Paul said it best ,start with the test lamp probe. their should be a junction box on the firewall (in engine compartment) with the main power switch on the box (terminat) should have power. check the positive & ground connections . It sounds like their is no power to the junction box . I have to check the large fuse above the fuse box looks like a shotgun shell. Looking for someone to tackle the wiring if you know someone. I think the closest guy to me on here is 450 miles away. There used to be a fellow on here third wright brother I could walk to his house. I actually met him one time, walking his dogs but he quit posting years back for some reason.
