OK, I ordered five keepers believe it or not. Amazon had them. I could’ve bought them right here in town, but they wanted over twice. The price for them worked on a good part of the day yesterday just for shits and giggles. I went over the brake shoes, one more time with degreaser And clean up the axle. I’ll be out there in a little while making a gasket for it and putting in the oil seal and putting the hub and drum back on andmounting the last two tires. At least that’s the plan. It’s really windy out there today, but I’ll be inside the garage.

I have always used some silicone sealer on axle flange with no gasket, never had a problem.   terry:MackLogo:

Keepers coming today worked on it bunch yesterday going back out today should be completed tomorrow… thanks for all your support and suggestions fellas

I have no idea what keepers are, so I'll watch this space so I can translate to Australian  ha ha ha

I bet it feels good to be getting it back together

Just noticed that last photo makes it look like the intersection is all rusted in actually just a light coating of rust on the outside of the nut. I didn’t feel the need to wire brush off. I filled the gully with oil and greased. The ball bearings still have to put the axle back in and paint the hub
