well been at it a few hours,,,making good progress ...but this swivel housing is stuck ,,i unscrewed the plate for the spline and pulled it off found another bolt underneath took it out tapping on it lightly just seems to be stuck,,,,i dont wanna beat the piss out of it taking a break  im thinking its just sticky gaskit.im wondering if i have to remove the gear inside??? just checked the schematics again ,,,says theres 2 bolt inside going back out and take a look

if you can knock that housing loose, you should be able to unscrew it out of the housing. It has the worm gear on it.  also,,,,?  on the sector shaft, is there a deep groove where the seal rides?  very common...  A machinist, can weld it up, and then turn it down to new.  Not sure what you are trying to do at this point but there are options other than hunting for another steering gear.  I'm curious what the Dog Pound say's..

turning the shaft should push the cap off the body. Likely just stuck.

Nevermind, I thought I was looking at the steering box not the angle box.

It’s actually the end cap for the Steering box housing .. bob

ok then screw the shaft and it will bring the cover with it. It may take some torque on the shaft . CCW IIRC

I was having trouble with the picture because it didn't show the box well at that angle.

Ha ha, thanks for that. Yes, it’s a weird picture straight on. It looks like there’s nothing behind the cap.
