b model door handles

I read that someone stated outside handles from a 47-51 chevy truck is the same as my handles on my 58 b. My question is has anyone tried it and is there any other options other than having them rechromed. A few years ago I restored a 1934 vld Harley and the nickel and chrome was really expensive.

And having no one "handy" in my case means none of B-model doors for at least 1000 km in any direction

To follow up on the door handle ordeal I ordered a set of the chevy handles on the mack ones the shaft is centered on the handle, on the chevy they are offset so I made new mounting plates and extended the square shaft they look better than the old ones. Some guy in Australia is selling chrome exchange ones for big bucks. I got 50.00 bucks in mine.

Hi, I made a different mounting plate to center the shaft that operates the mechanisms inside the door it's been long enough now I don't remember much else other then it wasn't too hard to do if I did it anyone with some tools could do it so far, they work just like the originals sometimes I can be a cheap bastard and I figured these would be good enough for my beat-up truck

So those mounting plates you made are unseen from the outside?

they are right under the handle if you look closely you can see the plate plus, I just gave them a coat of black paint
