The first U model

Recommended Posts

Vinny - First you make fun of the Frankenstein B model I bought, now you are making fun of my little Jay-Pan truck. I am going to go sit in a corner and cry.

Just kidding - all the other kids making fun of me is what made me strong

Strong smelling that is.

from information ive gathered and things i realized that im pretty sure this is the first U model broucher. so im thinking this is the first U model. i also have proof its one of the first u models because they didnt make many u models with the mack badge on the hood instead of the letters. ive also been looking for one of them mack badges like the one on this u models hood...maybe looking to purchase one :whistling: and believe me ive spent days researching my u model in the build sheets and researching other u models and other macks. ive spent days in my room, only going out of my room to go eat or go to the bathroom.

actually use this link. go to the bottom of the page and there is some brouchers. go to the one that says U series.

No one gets to see it yet - I don't think you could stand the shock

One fine day I will post pics - How does that go? When jupiter is in the seventh house....................

I thought the moon was in the seventh house, and jupiter aligns with Mars?!?

now vinny you SAY youve been in your room for days researchin U models, the rest of us know the real story of what a 12 yr old does for days in their room j.k haha. i always liked the badge style emblem on that U and some early R models. believe they were used mostly on the off highway trucks. i think Superdog/Mike mentioned a while back he had one. At least you won't go damn-near blind like I did.

That's right. The next line is "A piece will drive a Valiant" or sumthin' like that.

Here's a Mack Constuction Truck brochure from '78 with some offset cab stuff.

I'll stop picking on Olive since he doesn't wanna play with us.

Oh, I am always ready to play - at least when I have time between shooting bad guys, making pierogoiessesses, and taking photos of cow turds.

Since you cried so much, I will post you and vinny some pics of the Frankenstein B model today

I have one of those "early R or U or off-road MACK" badges, myself. Not ready to get rid of it yet.But when I do ,Vinny.you'll have first dibbs! I can see why they didn't use them long,THEY WEIGHED A TON!!! Probably pulled that chunk of fiberglass they were mounted on, right out of the hood!!!

IF YOU BOUGHT IT, A TRUCK BROUGHT IT..AND WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH IT, A TRUCK WILL HAUL IT AWAY!!! Big John Trimble,WRVA

Vinny did you check out that u-700 brochure. Cool. Roadway had a ton of those with v-8 detroits. St Johnsbury had a ton of u-600

with cummins v-903's which was funny. The v-8's usually required the higher u-700 cab. If I remember the V-903's were 90 degree

v-8's which gave them a lower profile. The detroit and mack v-8's must have had a higher profile. I think the detroits wer about 60 degrees. The mack 865/866 must have been less than 90 degrees thus the higher profile u-700 was required.
