  1. By the time I drove home from my shift, the sign was fixed. We had a guy peel the body canopy back a few years ago on a bridge. Bridge was fine and they sent the truck to Triad to get a new canopy put on the body.
  2. Getting ready to push some snow last Tuesday. 9th and the boulevard to the Girard ave exit of 76. And JDM doing a bang up job on 95.
  3. I do this all the time night paving. Usually our dump man lets us smack the gate real good pulling out of the paver, but some guys don't. Asphalt crumbs tend to get all caught up in the locks and around the gate and it's kind of a pain to scrape off if it gets cold. I've also made it a habit to constantly check my gate button since it doesn't have a light on it.
  4. Where do you guys run at? I'm in a hired plow for PennDOT right outside of Philly. Working the nightmare between 9th and the Boulevard and the Girard exit of 76. Going on 17 hours.
  5. Interesting to see the manual. My truck is an 86 R. I'm mostly on city streets so starting in 1st direct is fine. I only use low in the mud or crawling out of a hole.
  6. This is on my dash. I didn't know there was a different version of this trans.
  7. Is that a typo about splitting the shift to 4th on a 6 speed? I've asked that same question here and was told to not do it. I'm assuming he meant first gear?
  8. The name on it was "bulk delivery" (I think?). It looked like a lube body with a few different compartments in the tank. I was thinking fleet fueling or home heating oil?
  9. For anyone in Philly or Jersey that might be familiar with S.D. Richman scrap, they used to run a fleet of older R models. Most of them were retired and used as yard trucks. I noticed today that instead of the 2 they had parked in the back of their yard, there is now 4. The two that were there were in real bad shape and the two that were recently parked look a bit better. You can see them while driving south on 95 right under the Betsy Ross off ramp. Maybe it would be worth a shot to see if they'll sell one or two of them? They all have Farr air boxes I believe. It'd be a bummer to see them sit there and rot or get crushed. Just passing the word along.
  10. I have two that I found in the truck when I started driving it. One is a short red one and it fits the short engine brake switch so tightly that it pops when you pull it off. The other is a long blue one that I put on the long lift axle switch, but it's broken on the end so it's fairly loose. Maybe you could wrap a bit of scotch tape around the toggle switch before you put the extensions on?
  11. I'm sure us Philadelphians will be able to check them out while they're clearing the shoulder of 95 in rush hour lol
  12. I use photobucket and then just post the image link. Those things are sweet. I saw them parked in the SJA yard when I was hauling concrete out of there Sunday.
  13. I found this shift knob, will it work on the on a 2 stick R without any modifications? It's a company truck and I don't want to be messing around with it too much.
  14. Right on! I found them on eBay, but you had to buy them in 5 packs, but I only need two short and two long. This should do! Iowa 80 only has the chrome ones, and honestly I find them gaudy.
  15. Found some on eBay! Sucks I have to spend like 15 bucks to get a combo of short and long ones.
  16. Plastic/hard rubber switch extenders. I can only find the chrome ones. These have a round hole in the bottom and they just pop on and off the toggle switch. I like the old school look and I want to buy a set for my R.
  17. I figured it was something like that, but I didn't know the proper name. SJA has like 30 front discharge barrel trucks now between the south Philly plant and the plant in Riverside Materials, so I don't see that thing ever being used. Sunrise/Rushland concrete have a few super nice MR concrete pumpers as well.
  18. My ex lived there while she went to school. She was a bitch.
  19. Was down at the SJA Concrete yard in South Philly and finally got a pic of the Valueliner stone slinger they have. Inspection stickers said 05. They also run an old R water truck down there but I couldn't snag a pic.
  20. That Blair Superliner is painted white now. They're always in Anderson's yard helping out when we move a lot of equipment.
