  1. How so you decide which one to drive? Nice rides. Thanks for the pictures. Greg
  2. Now that judge walks the walk! He is clearly a man with integrity and humility. He's got my vote for anything he wants. Greg
  3. I never looked at it like that Jakebrake86! Laughing my behind off right now! Too funny...I'd love to see that happen. Vinney too!
  4. Need a set of B-815 emblems myself. If anybody has anything I'd be interested. I'm sure there are a few of us who need them. A guy on E-bay had remade some a few years back but cash eluded me at the time...I'm interested if anybody has anything to offer. Greg
  5. I guess I need to take some pictures of Dad's JD's. He's got a GP, A, and 2 B's. He still mows and cuts and splits the fire wood with them. The A and GP are hand start. As long as you know the trick, they start on the second cylinder up every time. They start better than the electric start B's. They are simple, durable and reliable as hell. You can't drag a 30' sied harrow with them but when horses fell out of favor in many farms all over the country, they were remarkably well designed machines for their day. I love the hand clutch...if it's in good working order they work slick. If they are sloppy, you can smash you fingers on the headlight. That is an experience you never forget. Purple fingers and loading hay all day don't go together very well. Ouch.
  6. I'd hit the block with some gunk degreaser and wash it down to clear the oil. Keep a watchful eye as the guys stated and it should show up if you indeed have a leak. If all else fails, you can put some additive into the oil that shows up with a UV light. It shows yellow with the light and can help pinpoint the culprit. I believe it comes in a kit with a light. Your local outoparts store should carry it. Slack adjusters are critical too...a fire truck in boston area drove into a building as the last set of brakes had come out of adjustment leaving them with none...that was a few years back. The driver was killed if memory serves. Good luck.
  7. Good for you. That will be a tremendous effort but the unique history and nature of the truck will make it all worth while. Please send pictures as you go. I'm sure parts can be found around the USA. Watch craigslist.com Shipping may be a challenge as always. Have fun. Greg
  8. Coils, fuel pump, ignition wires are of interest. Where is the truck located? Thanks
  9. Saw this on Craigslist in NH. I think a few minutes with a floor jack and a welder would have her back treating roads in no time. Do you suppose a pre trip inspection of the frame might have indicated an iminent problem????? You gotta crawl under once in a while for good measure. OOPPsss
  10. I had to watch and listen to that twice! What a cool video. What a machine. twin stacks...no mufflers..What?...yah that's cool.
  11. Scored this seat today from craigslist.com Got it for $50!!! I went and got it at lunch so it wouldn't get away!! It will go in the 815 soon. Then I'll sell the high back one in it now. It has the mack logo embossed in it and everything...
  12. My first truck was a 68 800A, V8, three speed and manual locking hubs. We pulled it out of the junk yard and I went all through it in time to have it on the road for my 16th birthday. I did all of it myself with a little guidance from Dad. I learned a ton of stuff doing that. I wish I still had it.
  13. Ouch! Cool truck. It's a shame it is so far gone. I think the chickens have left for better accommodations. I'd love to have the winches and that cab is cool...Is there a story to go along with it? It's a shame she's so far gone. That would be really neat to have.
  14. Great price for the truck. You got a deal! enjoy it.
  15. That's a great looking truck. Does it start run and drive? If yes, a little detail work on the back end and she will be show worthy. When you can, shoot pics of teh engine compartment, cab and rears. I love to see the details on everything. What is the plan for it in terms of set up? Good luck and enjoy! Greg
  16. I have been kicking it around but am too nervouse to try it. I put an old bottle of veggie oil in the freezer and it FROZE solid. I figured I'd look at it again in the spring You do need to filter it at the very least. Rudolph used peanut oil if I remember correctly. It will work but I wouldn't bet my business on it until I was sure I had it figured out. I have heard folks in Alaska run it year round so either they are full of crap or the catalysts etc make it work. I'd take it slow and limit liabilities but it has to work. Lots of guys run it. Greg
  17. http://worcester.craigslist.org/atd/3629959352.html This has been listed for a while. It's not bad looking at all and the price is good. Greg
  18. We used to run a 67? 299 skidoo and a 68 Polaris Mustang wide track that Dad dropped a 440 into for fun. I still have the Polaris and thoughts of restoring it but I'm not sure I'll ever get to it. I should take some pictures of the old girl. I ran an old 540 Yamaha till it gave up the ghost on a lake in VT. I rode a 700ZR twin and a ZRT800 with a D&D set of pipes, clutches and jets. You can buy them with over 175 HP stock now I guess if you don't mind a small car payment, I sold it all a few years back and have traded in my time to work on the LS85 instead. Good memories though.
  19. For the less knowlegible of us out there, is that a 12v?? Detroit or what is it? HP rating? It certainly looks impressive!!
  20. My truck had the 864 and I believe it was rated 255 HP. Its long gone. I understand that the injector pumps were a funky design and prone to failure and are now scarce like hens teath.
  21. A few years back I designed three 25 ton bridge cranes for Letourneau (I can't spell it either). cool job and nice folks down there.
  22. Supposed to take my road test tomorrow but the snow is going to postpone that I'm afraid. I'm close but yet so far...good luck.
  23. How cool does a set of stacks coming up through the middle of the hood look? Oh yah! What is the engine in that LRVSW?
  24. Can someone tell me the color codes for teh two small wires on the rear of the alternator. I took pictures but lost them when I changed out the phone. The three big leads are in order so I'm all set with them. This is not the gen set but the new for the time alternators with the big heat sink that hangs near the oil filter housing. Any help is appreciated. I don't wan t to let the magic smoke out of anything I don't have to. Thanks Greg
