    While we are discussing air starters, what is the main reason they even exist? Fewer batteries? Spin faster/more power? Jump start with air line from another truck? Is there a weight savings? Just curious.

    Now Vinny - so you are telling us you can start a new thread on here about the phantom video, but we still don't get to see it? and now we have to pine away for TWO of them? This is like when you have a puppy, and you take the feed bowl and you hold it just high enough that the poor thing can't reach it - its cruel! Vinny - we need the actual video.

    I strolled out of the office just now to check on my in-house brain surgeon Joe while he was reinstalling a set of railroad wheels and bumper on a truck. This is what I see - what is wrong with this photo? If you need to read the bumper sticker, just turn the photo over: Now we have it figured out: If you are laying sod, it is easier to remember, just put it green side up.

    Excellent information - I have not had to fool (yet) much with air starters but I get a lot of trucks that have them. I had to replace some on some ex-Roadway trucks a few months ago. They were like a normal type starter, just big assed! I guess the first type of air starter you describe is what I must have had on some CCC garbage trucks I sold. It was always a little strange sounding when you would hit the button, you would hear a clunk, then a second later the main air supply would engage. Thanks for the info - yet more free stuff for future use!

    Okay - I was wrong then, that is not the one I was looking for - thanks for the response. I got to looking again after seeing that photo and the bed I was looking for is a Schodorf out of Ohio. Lots of stuff like that bed is disappearing around here - including good jobs.

    That makes me laugh - I tried to slip a 20 to a guy last week that stood out all day in the rain at a electric company helping me load surplus stuff I bought from them. He refused to take it, and when I persisted, he showed me a folder of paperwork where the day before the whole place had to sit for 8 hours and listen to a talk on morals from some corporate gal and they were told no tips while on duty or you get fired. So I mailed a $20.00 fuel card to his house!

    Joe - Thanks for the photos - I love seeing old trucks still earning a living! This sounds crazy, but the truck in front of this 71 Ford pumper has a dump bed just like one I have that I need to find out who made it. Can you look and see if there is a ID tag on that one? It is the bed that is raised up in the dump position, grey bed? I may be wrong, but it looks just like one I have on a customers truck and we need a strange part for it and are not having any luck.

    A little birdie told me that one is starting the trek to Missouri today? It had better get limbered up - I have a long list of loads that need pulled, toted, hauled, back hauled, front hauled, spotted, and just moved. It had better take a yoga class so it does not pull some muscles............

    There was a fourth big winner in yesterday's lottery that the media did not tell you about. He was from Arkansas. He wanted the annual type payout - Three hundred dollars a year for a million years.

    I always think about that ugly girl in that movie about womens baseball - A league of their own. Did you see that? That gal could really pitch, but damn she was ugly! Her dad had better be pround of her throwing arm - not much else to write home about.
