  1. No pics but would guess the filter you mentioned is a fuel filter. And Welcome!!!! Packer
  2. Think of a locking or limited slip diff. (or third diff.) between the two diffs. Break an axle? lock it in and get home! Slick roads or poor traction? Lock it in! You will always have two out of four axles pulling, (not all four). Packer
  3. I live in the West, and was raised in the country. I saw my first black person at about the age of 10-11. Of course I couldn't take my eyes off of him. My Dad noticed and gave me some advice that has hung with me all my life. "A person has no choice on their skin color. Their parents decided that before they were born. Don't look at color, but at what's inside, then make a choice." My Dad was a very smart man!!! Packer
  4. I have an el cheapo (mexican) socket set that is my home set. BUT - - - I have a long Snap-on ratchet, about three feet, that will bust loose anything I tied onto with it. It came with two handles. one short and one long. My 1/2 inch will break loose most stuff but when it won't work, the 3/4 will!! My 3/4 gun is old but keeping it oiled, it will still pull BIG head bolts that were torqued at 800#. Packer
  5. My 'B-421' came with a 401-2 cid. gas engine and a "Baby" quadraplex! Split shifting all the way!!! The baby quad has the aux. tranmission on the RIGHT side instead of the left. Tends to make you loose your place when splitting!!!! LOL Packer
  6. Some where in the dark places of my mind I remember someone telling me that after the Second World War, many, many old vehicles were re-engined with surplus engines. When the old flatheads gave up, OHV engines were cheap and higher HP. White, REO, etc, replaced the old Mack flathead. I have a 1948 'EH' with a REO engine, and that's how it was explaned to me. 7. Hang in there Tony!!! I think I've mentioned that when you get flustered, the next thing you do is take a day off!!!!! It will be there next week, or next month, or next year!! You might be driven more than I am. I just wait 'till I feel better and start again. The missus will like lunch down-town yourr next day off! Packer
  8. Go to oldmacksrus.com Lots of info there!! Tom did a GREAT job!!!!!!!!!! Packer
  9. Got a trip planned the weed-end of November 21-22! Got a little room left on a 30 foot flat bed B61 fred from Indiana Locomotive breath from Texas Myself from Wyoming Will meet in Kansas City, Kansas that weekend for a major parts swap!!!! I've got a truck and parts to move and Fred is moving some stuff my way. I'll end up in California and every one else will go home. Just putting out the word!!! Packer
  10. Reminds me of my ex-wife!!!! Packer
  11. Two guys went into the employment office. First one is talking to the office person and tells them that he and his friend are looking for unemployment compensation. When asked whet he had done for work, the guy replied: "I worked in a womans clothing factory, sewing lace on womans underware" "We can give you $250.00 a week" said the clerk. "I guess that will be fine" answered the first guy. The second man set down and asked what his job had been. "I was a Diesel fitter" came back the reply "What is a diesel fitter"? "Well, after Fred sews the lace on the womans panties, I hold them up and say 'Yep, diesel fit her"!!!!! Packer
  12. Well, why not???? Just a hop, skip, and a jump from me, and could look it over (but not for a bit). Packer
  13. A $100.00 and an hour should tune up your Jake. While your at it, adjust both the valves and the Jakes. A Rebuild kit is just some pistons and 'O' rings. You'll need a set of valve cover gaskets and some 'O' ring lube to finish the job. AND DON"T DROP ANY OF THOSE TINY PARTS DOWN IN THE ENGINE!!!!!! LMAO It will happen!! Packer
  14. Even numbers are Gas, while odd numbers are Diesel. One exception might be my B-421 But that is B-42 But cheaper. Go to oldmacksrus.com Tom did an awesome job of gathering up "B" info. Packer
  15. The BACK of the transmission is driven by the tires. The FRONT of the transmission is driven by the engine. Since the gears are not syncronized, you RIGHT foot and CLUTCH are the Syncros' Shift into nuteral, let the clutch up, rev the engine till the gears mesh, and slip it into gear. Main is about 900 RPM's. Aux. is about 300 RPM's, plus or minus any speed you loose or gain. That's the down and dirty - - - now go practice for a while. Practice is what it takes to shift smoothly. A few trips around the town and things will get better - - - the more you drive it - - - the better you'll get!!!! Packer
  16. Thanks Guys!!!!! Packer
  17. Terry, Yep, it's in Wyoming!!!! Our rain fall is about 7-9 in. per year and the state does not use salt on the roads. So-o-o-o the body is near perfict!!!! "Course the truck has been parked inside for the last several years and that is a great help. We're still dickering on the price and such, but I think it's gona be mine. New seat covers and headliner ready to go in. Tires are re-caps and about 50%, but still have a lot of miles. The pictures are all I have for now. The truck is in the corner of the shop and there is a Diamond-T parked very close to the "B", so thats all I can get for now. I get her out in the sun, I shoot some more. Packer
  18. Don't think I ever posted a pic of my 1938 GMC COE. I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out!! Lots of work and sweat and now wish I had done a few things differant, but all-in-all, It turned out pretty good. Packer
  19. Yep, a fast Ford and a slow Mack. Just can't go wrong there!! I took a trip to Greely, Colorado to catch a truck show. Pulled my 1938 GMC COE with my B-61. 300 miles took 9 hours!!! Didn't think I would ever get there! Congrats on the Great year! Packer
  20. Mike, Bummer!!! I've got two sets to put on two trucks. Then I'l be out!! Coulda used a pair as back-up or for the next project - - - what ever that might be! Getting tough to find! Hang in there - - - our ship is bound to come in one day! Packer
  21. Found this B-73 a couple of weeks ago. Just had a chance to look at it and get a picture or two. I think it's going to follow me home!!!!!!!!!!!! Long wheel base with light camel-back set-up, a 280 Cummins, a Quadraplex, and an "L" cab I've got a sleeper that will fit on it. (Needs some work) To modify Tom's Mack, It will be a: "Single Stack Mack with a Shack on the Back"! Some like two stacks but one is all I need. Eat your heart out!! Packer
  22. Mike, Never did here back on the tanks. I'm good on tanks, but you never know when a set might come in handy!!! I'd take them if they came by but transporting them might be a long haul to Wyoming!! Packer
  23. I've got a really clean tank and hangers from a "B" collecting dust. Got something to trade?? I will be heading to B61Fred's place in October (Bloomfield, Indiana), and could get it that far East. Packer
  24. Missed the best pic!!! Packer
