  1. hm i wonder what R model that is Vinny. would love to have that whole truck, old school r model, 673 natural with a 10 speed duplex and the front rear tire right behind the cab, a true ST. bet she rode rough. never called him, still got the number. 200 for the sled, hed probablty want 10 grand for the Mack and you can literally stand up in it and lift the top of the cab off with you hands, that is if you didnt fall thru the floor. i do remember it had beautiful green shag carpet in it haha.

  2. i saw a B47T at an auction in upstate ny about 10 years back, everyone was all over it so i left, found out it sold for $800 and wanted to shoot myself in the foot after. had dual 55 gallon round step tanks and a baby 673, which was a 465 i think, the Mack engine, not scania and an adapter plate with a baby quad behind it. only reason the baby quad lasted was the pump was turned down to 150 hp in the engine, real hill climber there haha. same guy went to another auction i was at and bought a B61 single axle with a monoshift, hole in the block, 4 brand new recapped back tired and a nice dump box for $200 bucks. another time there was a big crownd and i said screw it and left early. Dave Zsido in vermont had a B47 tandem axle for sale about 15 years ago, he gave it an amateur restoration, paint and a new chrome shell, had a rotten cab and he wanted $4500 for it.

  3. i forgot something, eveerything is the same but the front springs! B42 single axles usuaully came with 8 leaf front springs unless it was a B42X. B61's usually had 11 or 12 leaf front springs for the added weight. you could swap springs fron a doner truck or take them to a spring shop and have them add a few leaves. some B models had massive 3'' spacers between the springs and axle to but this gets funky in a single axle. in a dump truck you dont notice but a single axle if you put the big blocks in you may end up[ chasing it all over the road like a Ford truck with twin i beam junk under it or a worn out steering box. you also need to change the clutch shaft to a diesel one as the keyway is in a different spot on the gas jobs. it will all bolt up but wont let you adjust the clutch after its together, trust me, i found this out the hard way haha.the other thing that we mentioned before is the diesel trucks had the front radiator crossmember shimmed out 1/4 . this allows you to change the belts easier, found this out the hard way to, AFTER everything was all together and the fenders were nice and shiny. 4. yea, mine has long since been removed and the previous owner cobified a holder from the older band clamp and bracket to bolt a new Mack spin on filter housin to. it works and it solid but looks rough, i never changed it but it work and now take the newer style green Mack fuel filter

  5. yea, i knew it was a firetruck. i think they were both 68's. a B68 and an N68. both still had big gas engine 2 mpg's in them. that is another reason i couldnt see the HIGH price tag that use to be on both of these trucks. Matt. use to see them for sale, never have seen either of them show up anywhere. in my opinion Bob Daub was the best thing for the old Mack restoration group, even drove to shows with parts in two old Macks. was a sad day when i found out they were sellin out the dealership. i heard Bob wanted to keep the B models parts business from the reast of the business and his family would not let him. 6. a small baby quad would never have bolted up to a diesel and if it did the torque would blow it apart. as for the 422, they were the same driveline as a b42 but had a better overhead valve 438 engine. i think they used the same front engine mount as a diesel as the 707 540 and 464 were about the same as the 438. as for the smaller 77 series transmission ive . never seen it bolted up, dont think it would work and if it did it would never hold up. those little transmission had problems even behind the 4011's. the 72 series transmissions were basically bulletproof along with the 67 series in the B62's

  7. so can we get Barry to buy from this Mack supplier still in bulk and get original style b model boxes ? AND have them priced reasonable so we can all enjoy them? like around the same price the r model box is? i know i got an original box from Tidewater and it was $225 or so, top and bottom without the latches. id pay that in a heartbeat today.

  8. double overdrive 18 speed quad with a double disk clutch would probably get you decent road speed since your runnin true 24'' rubber. even with that slow rear you might get 62-65 mph out of it. id stay away from a triplex as quads are more common for parts and with your 237 and rear you might not get a split low enough to use it off roadin or with some weight.
