whatcha buy Mack MHE9?
-
when i put my B613T together, we changed the S cams, backin plates and brake shoes over to the new style. the backin plates will bolt right up the axle housin and you will be happier with parts availability. think i scavenged the backin plates and s cams with the big C clip for the slack adjusters off a 1980 U model, YES Vinny my B model has a U model ring and pinion and backin plates and S cams.

the quick release valve i bought has a 4th port on the back side where you T into the original quick release valve and run an air line from the service brakes to the port. dont really get it but thats how the diagram is and it works.

ok a V8 thread without a V8 engine picture???
-
i know that trucks photo is in one or two Mack books and was also in a book called trucks from the 50's or 60's
-
yup, i agree. this is the way i plumbed mine up. only difference is i used a quick release valve with a check valve in it so if you have you foot hard on the brake pedal, i dont think the spring brakes will apply. least this is the way the guy at the counter explained it.

both of those cabs at Macungie were pretty rough. cobbed up pretty good, metal work was not finished that well and neither was the bondo work, then they primered over everything, headliner, firewall mat. looked like a rush job to make a few bucks to me. better than no cab i guess but they needed alot of finesse

yup i remember someone tellin me Schwerman truckin had roadrangers in their B models. there was also an original B model with a Roadranger at the Springfield show. think it was owned by Frank M...... something? the movin guy who had a bunch of White cabover 3000 series truck in NYC?

most likely a 711 in it if it has the big radiator. alot of B67 seemed to have the 711 in them and regular b models with the 711 and 673T had the longer radiator that goes all the way to the bottom of the horse collar and is formed around the bottom radiator bolts and the top tank is angled to fit tight in the horse collar on top for more fluid. stanrard B61's had the smaller tanks on top and bottom . so it seems logical for it to have a 711 if they put the B75 (Kentucky radiator) as we call them here up north haha

she probably has it set on vibrate and has her unemployed boyfriend that we pay for call her all day ...
-
looks like a St Johnsbury truck or Carolina Freight, it has their signature real long fuel tank on it. only seen that tank on their trucks.
-
some of them had a drain plug right in the bottom metal radiator hose. this is the metal part of the hose that attaches between the engine and radiator with two short pieces on either end.

Id like to find me a nice single axle lowboy to pull behind my B613T. Paul Vanscott had one few years back when i bought my R model off him. might have to see if he still has it. tried to buy a few of them i knew about in my area. scrappers got to them first.

single axle B42T weighs about 8400lbs with a fifth wheel. might lighter than a B61. wrecker body looks heavy, probably another 3000lbs there. dont expect to break any speed records with a B42. against the governor they were got about 52 gutless mph. looks like a solid truck tho as far as cab and sheetmetal. if you can get it cheap, repower it with a diesel and youll have a nice truck. or buy my 413 big block dodge off me haha.
-
didnt say i wanted Mack with a moparts Vinny. i had a 413 in my B613 when we got it, still have the engine in the garage. its brand new. jsut wanted a firetruck b model bad and dont wanna pay 20 grand for one and that one is unique

i think thats just shitty dealing right there. WTF
-
so i sent him an offer, he sent me back a counter offer for $2250. before i could even say yes, he sold it for $2500 to someone else? WTF
-
take the outside door handle off and the outside lock, then the round plate for the stop, roll the window down all the way, then all the screws all the way around and the four from the latch in the jamb. leave the inside door handles on! that way you can push the inside handle forward and move the striker from the latch up and slide the panel up and forward. takes some practice, takes a lot of practice to put the damn thing back together after it painted and not scratch all the new paint off the edges.
-
yup, i collect them, i estimate i have around $3000 to $4000 worth of them now, haha. thinkin about seriously puttin them on our home owners insurance
-
boy Mike, hell of a deal there haha. i dont have a problem explainin it to the other half cause she wants a B model firetruck cause she is a volunteer firefighter. might have some splainin to do at the grandparents storage lot tho haha
-
ok so its been relisted yet again and i put an offer in on it. would really like to have it to restore it . probably wont come near what hes askin for it but always wanted a Bmodel firetruck. sorry if i stepped on anyone toes in here haha

stayed up myself last night watchin Moonfire on youtube. the younger guy seemed aweful tough on that old quad box. the blonde guy(Charles napier) was an actor in a lot of 80's movies and stared in the Dukes of Hazzard and the A Team often.

864 V8. parts are obsolete pretty much. would love to take a B81 and put a modern V8 Mack in it with a 12 speed and air ride. that would be sweet
