yup, does spice up the dash a little. my grandfather said the R400's he had and drove had the optional guage panel. they were 402's with 9 speed overgears and one was a chrysler 413 with an 18 speed double over. they had single tachographs and the guages off to the right. usually all thats there is the shiftin pattern and the headlite switches

another Duke? i thought the only Duke WAS Fetterly??? haha

had power steering judging by the pics and the universal joint at the end. also def a b75 or 73. the B61's used a smaller column when they had power steering, just a short section and a u joint and usually a RH shephard box. this was the top of the line power steering i think tho. the cheaper route was the air or hydraulic assist which had cylinders on the drag link or tie rod or both.

no turbo, not an END673T . most likely a END711, could be a 673P tho. the P stands for Powerram i think. seen it in an old advertisement showin the split intake manifolds.

yup, common gasket that any glass shop should have, yup, put the seam at the bottom and if you paint with any paint that you use clear or high gloss, put some sealant on the pinchweld first! the old B models didnt use any sealant but when u repaint any of these suckers and clear coat anything the gasket wont seal to the pinchweld like it did back in the day when they only had straight or acrylic enamel paint.

yup, b model style FA505 front axle with the hub caps painted.
-
yup, definatley martine Senour paint. actually have had good results with Napa paint myself. while we are on the topic. were the B model firetrucks painted Mack red or fire engine red? and does anyone have the paint code for Old Mack Red? not the new darker shade that was on the R models.
-
i remember the yellow R model back in 2005 or so, think it was on ebay.
-
i want it, and the trailer, gotta find me a single axle lowboy

sweet lookin superdog. triaxle, spoke front wheels, the better lookin(in my opinion) round headlights. all it needs is a coat of wax and an extended angled bumper on it.
-
yup, front axle is correct, i was just sayin its old cause it has the B model style front axle. think they did away with that around 1970 or so. your right a 609 would have a 711 in it and most likely a 9 speed overgrear. my R609 had a 711 and 10 speed in it originally. on a side note what ever happened to our thread about the oldest B R U L where we all put in out Vin numbers. not that any of us poor bastard probably bought much lately but i think we need that refreshed every once in a while.

maybe not tightening the wheel up all the way and was allowed to move around.
-
yup, two bolts and washer pump and the rubbers prolly around $150 at Mack. Drove the DM around work the other day and could not figure out the damn racket. got out, looked under and the rubber is completely gone, cab is rockin up and down haha.
-
yup, definately had the rope tied too to the steering wheel and probable out the windows to the mirror brackets, thats how everyone use to tow them years ago. looks like a late 60's. has the b model style 505 front axle. probably had a 673 and its spent thats why its sittin there. actually looks like a nice project with a little pressure washer work and probably a new bullett and maybe a fuel tank strap, or ratche strap.

pretty sure he means a 4 speed auxillary NOT a quadbox. 5 speed auto with a 4 speed auxillary woud be common and would probably work for him as long as he had the right one.
-
so whats happening with Mike? if hes at strong memorial it must be pretty serious
-
i see you have the old style 50's mirror brackets that wrap around the front of the door. are original or did u find a new pair?
-
i dunno. seems like it would look good with a green front end sheet metal and red hubs. of course im partial to red and green and black

a single reduction rear will accept a double reduction hogs head. it will bolt right up, but the inside of the housing will not have enough ''meat'' for the bearing caps to rest against. the bearing caps on both side are meant to rest against the inside of the flange on the housing and a single reduction housing was not built up enough for the bearing caps to rest against . it may work for a hobby truck but if you were to pull a heavy load with it and it was allowed to flex inside you would have trouble.

Mr Doug Fetterly always used coffee cans on his stacks. i remember him last summer sayin ''they are a bitch to put on sometimes but really easy to get off''. he has a long stick to put them on i believe,.

nice pics. that white and red B77 was pictured in showtime i think years ago.., has the dealers name on a metal plaque below the bulldog on the hood,

thats on my want list someday. always wanted a single axle B75 with a triplex. price is decent if the cab is solid. good fenders can be found. has the old style 50's mirror brackets on it which is weird unless someone changed the doors... by 63 Mack was using the Delbar bracket that Watts sells yet and bolt pattern.. also must be a retrofit by Mack turbo.
