  1. just wondering if anyone is going to the Gerhartz show and comin back with room on a trailer. i bought a B model firetruck in Somerset Pa and need it hauled back 7 hours to upstate Ny.seems everyone i had lined up to rely on to move it has backed out or had issues and left me with my ass in the air. even if you werent coming all the way as long as it got to Ny i could pick it up with my own truck and trailer. truck doesnt not run but the seller says he could arrange to have it pulled onto a trailer. as long as im in Ny im fine but have heard horror stories about running through western Pa.

  2. some B42's has the smaller diameter steering column. it will work but you need the pitman arm for it cause it is different size along with the rubber mount for the dash. the pitman arm will work just need to take the draglink apart and the guts and reassemble with the smaller pitnam arm.

  3. not sure if its a custom job or not but Cobleskill Ny has a four door R model Mack fire truck. might be on their website. i know i have one of their T shirts they were sellin at the Balston Spa truck show that Reads Cobleskill FD, Home of the Mack Attack as they have the R model alone with a Granite and a few others along with a few restored older peieces of equip

  4. actually a lot of people liked the truck in the lead. said it kept everyone in line and at a pace and not hotroddin the whole time plus they could see it un like ridin in a group and not knowin where the leader was and where the stops and roads were. had a few assholes pass me and time were were going 50 and sometimes 70 but all in all a good time.

  5. they are NOT split rims, split rims are old school Buds like on olds Fords, Chevy's, Dodges and Studebakers where the whole rim split down the middle and was dangerous as all hell. what you have are Lock ring type rims. some might even be Safety Rims. Goodyear made the Safety rim i think along with Firestone. they were where u put the rim down, slide tire over, hammer or pry the other side of the ring on, then hammer or pry the safety lock ring on. they can be dangerous to if mismatched rings are used. the trick is to make sure the grove and the rings are clean and NO rust. if they are really rusty, scrap them! if they can be cleaned up and fit tight they are fine to reuse just dont mix and match the lock rings and rims. old guys frown upon that.

  6. local bar owner asked me to lead a parade of bikes this past weekened with my B61 on a Toy Run. the run was to raise money and collect toys for the kids of Schoharie County Ny along with Prattsville and other small towns that were devistated when hurricane Irene gave us all the rain here in Ny. entire towns were wiped out and many never returned after having to abandon their homes. seems like the government and FEMA diditn really do much. kinda went thru the motions but i hear people are still needing help.Anyways i lead the way on a 125 mile trip thru the flood zone, we stopped at a few bars along the way and ended up back at his bar for a big buffett dinner and drinks.everyone who signed up was asked to bring a toy for the kids. felt like a big sho being in the lead of over 100 Harleys.

  7. yup, dry slippery oad and tractor protection switch on dash get air supplied from the manifold on the passenger side of the firewall near the air inlet tube . i plumbed my parkin brake valve/yellow push pull directly from the dry side of the air tank. the hand valve gets air from the treadle valve and then goes back down and is T'd into the treadle valve.

  8. that Red and black B model is on youtube as well. under Two Stack Mack with a window in the Back. guy tells all about it. not much for bling but that truck is pretty sweet. has chrome around the three ribs on the back of the cab to. i like the looks of it, even if the interior isnt green.

  9. coming around Vinny. you guys gonna mask off the engine and transmission and spray the whole frame when your done or just brush paint it? also looks like someone changed the air tank brackets. those are B model brackets. the U and r had a bracket that was angled and curved under the frame. least the one i have seen did. or maybe Fetterly added those brackets when they changed the rears?

  10. wow, stands all painted checkered? last time i was at pocono was about 15 yrs ago. year before thast Davey Allison rolled on the backstretch all along the wayy i think, the following year he wrecked and was no longer with us. was also at Pocono for the Richard Petty farwell tour with all the Plymouth Superbee;s there, 43 of them i think.. Also remember Alan Kulwicki doin the polish victory lap one year and the followin year i believe he died in the helicoipter accient.

  11. the late Marv Comer. never knew what Mack did. the beige and green steering wheels in the B models always got me scratchin my head. who decided which? or was it what was handy?? my B613 and Doug Fetterly's both have beige steering wheels tho....

  12. a B68 would have a 540 ci engine, the B62's had 464A's and 464 B's, usually only difference was updraft and downdraft carbs. the good old updraft is the one where you pull the choke out and a half gallon of gas goes on the ground haha.
