I was talkin to my guy who cuts my neighbors lawn, he hauls cars with a 3 car trailer in the off season, he has an older Ford diesel with the 7.3 with over 400,000mi !! He was going to buy a new Ford diesel but when he went up to NY State to haul some cars to the Port of Baltimore he went with a guy with a newer Dodge 3500 dully and a guy with a new Ford 4500 .... The Ford didn't do to good!! His Ford with 400,000 plus mi out pulled him on the hills an both got better fuel mi and of course the Dodge did good with the Cummins Bullhusk

I'm sorry but you are wrong on the Detroit engines, the top head an value design as well as the piston and the Detroit electronics has been around long before D B took them over, if anything they learned from us! There MB 4000 motor was Redone more like the US Detroit using there transposed valves as well as the Detroit electronics ,the whole top end of the motor is based on the Series 60 12.7 motor, but they now use a common rail fuel system (i think Mercedes) instead of the Detroit unit injectorsBullhusk

Mark, Can you believe I drove those Mack LM'S in NYC some 40 years ago for Colonial Sand & Stone!! Used one outa W-30th St one day back in 1972, they had 673 natural asp. Motors in them an they put 15yds of concrete on board so figure 4000 lb per yd 475 gl a water plus 200 in the drum an about let's say maybe 20 tons for the truck ...30 for the met. An lets say 6 ton on the water total 56 tons on a Mack 673 tandem with a Quad box all day every day!!..12x24 tires.....that's about right 112,000 some even 120,00 plus The Autocars and the CCC'S were just as awesome Oh man what a time it was!!!Bullhusk

I was at Allentown Mack and of course they tried to sell me a truck, but I told the salesman that I did not like the Volvo engine. Well here we go... He tells me "that's not a Volvo motor, it is in fact a motor designed by Mack and Volvo together ! An entirely new motor" So what's the scoop guys ? Is what he tells me true or B S BULLHUSK

Mike the early T2090 I had in my 89 Superliner had the Fuller RTO-9 shift pattern, but my newer CH had the shift pattern as you describe, go figure? BULLHUSK

I had this problem with my S-Liner twice, when the fork breaks it leaves the trans in gear (you not knowing this) so when you shift into another gear you are between two gears! Bingo main shaft breaks and sometimes takes the trans. Case with it! The problem is the top cover on the 2090 trans-Mack has updated the top cover two or three times don't bother fixing this transmission go with a reman with the warranty and I'm sure the top cover has been updated You usually hear some sort of a bang or a noise when this happens I'm surprised that you did not hear anything?Good Luck Bullhusk

The big part of me buyin the Detroits is product support, Cat Cummins an Mack all walked when I had trouble with there pre. prob's On the other hand Detroit has never left be holding the bag! as well as the dealer Horwith Freightliner in Northampton PA. So as far as canned beer?? ..Don't know, but I'll drink it from the bottle or the tap it all tastes the same ta me LOL!! BULLHUSK

Look I talk to many guys with the new Pac car motor and the Cummins ISX, I won't even tell you about the Accert Cats cause there is not enough time and paper to tell you those horror stories!! Hands down for the Cummins, but not without problems, some had crank prob. some had other stuff! But if it where me ?? I would buy something with a Detroit cause the guys I'm talkin to are tradin them in for Detroit powered trucks I have em an run em and I will not buy another motor at this time so b carefull BULLHUSK

I was talkin to someone yesterday who has a business about 4 times larger then my co, who told me last year it cost them a little over 1 million for health care! Well... Get ready for this.... this year they went up 700,000 dollars (OBAMA CARE)!! He said to me 'Now where in the hell do i come up with that kinda money??' I spoke to the guy who has the truck, an I think he traded a B75 Mack for the U360 Brockway, I'm gettin some history on her now I'm told mech. it is sound but the cab on the other hand?? but I think it is a little steep, 12,000 is where i think it should be BULLHUSK
