  1. Thank you for the pics. My truck has angle iron bolted onto the outside of the frame rails and it looks like the fith wheel was bolted to those with the bolts vertical.
  2. Saw that also. Looks good in the pic.
  3. I was studying the build information for my truck and it was to receive a 36" Fontaine sliding fifth wheel when delivered to the dealer. The fifth wheel was removed by the previous owner. I would like to get an original period correct plate to maybe put back on. Did Fontaine make different styles or models? I managed to find a pic of the truck with a plate sitting on the truck, Not the best pic but does that look like a Fontaine brand can anyone tell? Thanks -Jeremy
  4. Yea I might end up purchasing one through them but figured I'd check here first to see if someone has an extra laying around.
  5. Need 1 of the Mack bubble style mirrors in stainless. Must be in very good condition.
  6. Thank you very much for posting!
  7. Follow your battery cables. They should lead under the passenger seat and there will be a box that houses the series parallel switch. If that is still there chances are its the original 24 volt start.
  8. Thats a great photo. Thanks for sharing!
  9. SBC conversions were/are pretty popular. I prefer the original engine myself.
  10. Trying to track down some history on my truck. It had Wright & Wishaw Grading Contractors Racine WI painted on the doors. Does anyone know anything about this company? Thanks -Jeremy

  11. You guys out east sure have it good. Finding parts like that in the midwest is nearly impossible.
  12. Thanks for the great story, I enjoyed reading it!!
  13. I hardly think not having maxi's is a make or break deal. I dont work my truck and prefer that it doesnt have them, I guess prefer to have one as original as possible. Kind of goes with the allure of driving a 50yr old truck. I suppose it depends on what you plan to do with the truck, as others said its always possible to upgrade when needed.
  14. We started combining soybeans yesterday. I used my fj40 to pull our 35ft bean head out to the field.
  15. Look for one with a nice frame. Over the years so many of these truck get altered from what they originally were for. Frames get chopped, welded, etc. I prefer a single frame as then everything is visible and no hidden rust. Just something to keep in mind.
  16. What ratio do you currently have? My B61 ST has a 5.73 ratio.
  17. Just called my local NAPA and they have the 1233 filters on sale until monday for $23.
  18. Thanks everyone for your input. I would like to compile a page with common part numbers for filters and such as Im sure its a question that gets asked many times over.
  19. Any idea what the Donaldson part # is?
  20. Would Baldwin be a better choice then the Fram? Dont want to start another filter brand war but would just like to know what common brand people are using?
  21. You make a valid point. I wonder what year production was stopped on the Mack OEM filter?
  22. Does anyone still have a surplus of the Mack oil filters for the B series? Mack# 236GB311A My local dealer has a Fram# C206 in stock and I have also located Baldwin P706M. Just curious if anyone still stocks the OEM Mack filter. Thanks -Jeremy
  23. Well keep us updated and take lots of photo's once you get it opened up!
  24. Do you think the truck was abused at some point or what do you think contributed to the accelerated wear of the lower end? I asked in another thread how long a thermodyne should last and got the impression that they should last nearly forever if taken care of properly. Obviously they will wear out eventually but your engine seems pretty young yet. I would be curious to know what was all done on the last overhaul and what brand components were used? -Jeremy
  25. How many miles are on this engine?
