  1. you need to change the you cant shift them, to I cant shift them. if you try to twist a 237 mack like a 238 detroit or 555 cummins or a 3208 cat, you will get nothing but grief. all of the above screem like their pulling the world at 2000 plus rpm's shifting, shifting, shifting, sifting where the mack makes the most tork at 900/1000 rpm's, if you can forget about the shifting and screaming in an 8hr shift you will beat them and burn 20% less fuel you have to understand your equipment, and expect no more than 100% of what its capable of. revin two high before you shift, shift a maxidine before 700 rpm in the lower gears. get the first 4 gears in less than 20 feet, then light a cig pour a cup of coffee get you a sip or 2 and then pull it into hi.
  2. i have noticed that guys who luv macks have no problems with them, i think because they know and understand their equipment. the guys that don't like them have trouble, but they usually have trouble with anything they are in. maybe its the guys that enjoy what their doing against the guy that wishes he could get a paycheck for sleeping late?????
  3. i use rustolium, not in the spray can. you can get pnt, qrt, or gallon at home store. it is very sticy. if your gona spray t threw a gun you will need some paint thinner. i have put it on with a foam brush. if your not skilled with oil base paint it wouldnt hurt to practice a little first. just remember the less you brush it the better it looks. no more than two strokes, the brush marks will flow out as it dries.it will last a couple years. i used to paint my dayton wheels wih a foam brush, after you get the hang of it, it lasted a lot longer than spray and just as slick and shinny as a spray. gota wait 24 hrs if you need a second coat.
  4. that will work... now if we can come up with pictures of fjh and rahsler, then we will have something to work with...
  5. very cool. been close but not in reno latley, i will give you a shout when i do.
  6. thanks sounds like a plan. im in salt lake now, i am sceered to tear into it out here. if bolt breaks im screwed.... i think 68 is on the french riviara this week, not gona bother him till he gets back to work. when i seen how hot mrs. mackpro is, i thought maybe he was packin like john holmes. but i figured it out HE'S RITCH.....
  7. the correct way to check egr is to unplug it ????????????
  8. don't you know she was a screemer in her day.....
  9. i remember mackpro checking that when he ran the overhead, ill check it again, just tighten the screw??????? JB weld ????
  10. where is it? how do i check it? is it a mackpro thing? i think i have had this problem all along. i allways watch important gauges, old school oil press. water temp. exhaut temp. when ex temp would start to climb i adjusted how hard i was pulling to keep it down. we have talked about lack of boost with engine brake. and engine brake sometimes good or bad. now i think this boost issue ties in????
  11. cleaned egr cooler new turbo filter cleaned and lubed vgt linkage checked air going to vgt, removed hose, appears to have plenty of air pressure. egr vaulve shaft is shiny, appears to be doing as should. comes and goes without ryme or reason, sometime i think rough roads help, but not every time???? when it makes 33psi boost it is great, fire breather, good engine brake, hurts the feelings of large car owners. at 25 psi boost, it sucks, poor power, piss poor engine brake, builds exhaust temp very quik. brown exhaust smoke. humitity, altitude, temp, rain, day, night,it runs good and bad in all situations. never knowhow long either way is going to last, 5 min, or 5 days. can be running fine pulling a hill, downshift and it goes to hell, or maybe pulling hill running bad and downshift and it comes to life. no codes lights or alarms. the only thing i can see is boost change, its either 25psi runs bad, 33 psi runs great. engine brake works great at 12 to 14 psi boost. is shity at 5 psi. have been paying very close attention, near consuming, trying to nail down a common cause. no results....
  12. got me an inspection in kansas a couple weeks ago, did their level three, all paper work and logs were fine, he looked at my truck and said i probably be waistin both our time to go any further, get on outa here. i think a clean good loookin mack goes a long way with the dot.
  13. i have little compasion for flood people, i would like to live near the water, but it floods. they allways act so surprized. you can trust me, it has flooded before and its gona flood again. if you cant afford a total loss, don't live there......
  14. alt was only putting out 10 volts. got it replaced, and turbo filter, vgt spray lube. this is where i miss mcbride, gona take these guys an hour or 2 to get my paperwork ready before i can leave.. im spoiled................
  15. loaded a load of plastic jersey berriers today, thought i was gona have some good luck, they are about 4ft. tall and weighted mabe 1500 lbs. going to brigham,ut. at 2 bucks a mile. as soon as i was strapped and ready to roll jumped in and seen the lightning bolt and showing 10 volts. it coulda been a lot worse, i was only 8 blocks from f@c mack in st.louis, its not mcbride by a long shot, but maybe they can get me going??????
