  1. Both good looking trucks Lord i miss my granddad (he past a year ago come apirl15th(yes tax day ) My family ran a small excavting company also untill my granddads death last year looking @ your pics makes me remember "the good ole days" when we had our trucks & eqipment (Mack autocar & gmc is what we ran over the years ) i look foward to getting back into the business within just another year or two . i miss it Dirt not only gets on your hands but in your blood too !! We had a 77 DM & A 87 R Model both dumps & of course "olddog" my namesake a B422T S/A Tractor (that looks similar to your B42 Parts truck same color but w/ stack up the back on passenger side) that served as our lowboy tractor untill 1998 when TDOT Made us go to a tandem then "olddog" was used as a back up tractor when "jimmy" (a 81 GMC BRIGADIER W/318 DETROIT & 13SPD & 14K F/A 46K R/A DOUBLE FRAMED W/ Wetkit & knuckboomcrane on back & dual exhaust on tall 22.5 steel budds ) when in shop fer pm's & other work so "olddog" was just reccently offically retired but anit afraid to put another bumper on him (got snatched off ) & new rubber on him & put him back to work Glad noone was hurt in accident also glad to see "baby skiddle" still goning strong have a safeone mack

  3. IVE Been around dumptrucks all my life but In my case although i can drive the 2 sticks & airshift manual trannys but w/ my Lite case of Ceveral palsy (c.p. it slows me down but it dont stop me ) in my left hand & leg & foot it would be easier fer me to drive a dumpbucket w/ a 6spd Allison when my left hand & fingers try to lock up almost come cold weather /winter time my left hand has a mind of its own so i might an exception 1 Things for sure a lot less driveline & driveshaft problems (no burning out clutchs & wringing driveshafts ) But dont want the new truck payments Will stick w/ the manual trannys fer now Just my 2 cents & yall have a goodone Mack

  6. ya could tell what model it was by s/n in door on plate until round early 80's like superdog mentioned my Dad's truck (my Truck now & my namesake 5th owner since new 3rd generation owner & 1ST THING I LEARNED TO DRIVE ) the s/n starts w/ model of truck than numbers starts little history of the truck i have my dad bought from a friend of family who bought it used from TriState Mack in Memphis in 66 used as a farm truck until 69 (they blew the 438 Mack gas motor up ) where my dad used it in our farming & excavating operations (he beefed frontend up & now has a 711 Mack diesel in it w/ 10spd duplex & 6:17ratio rear end) than my granddad used it in our farming & excavating operations after dad passed @ a early age (in 77) until 98 when DOT made use go to a tandem than we still used him as a back up when the jimmy went down ocassionlly orig owner was tim lowery co. out of cleveland ,Ms who hauled jet freight similar to fed ex now traded every couple to 3 years The model of the truck starts the s/n like this : B422T THAN numbers begin 2 DM Dump trucks we had started like this also 1st one: DM685S 2nd one :DM686SX Then the numbers follwed behind them An 87 R model we had started 1mn1 not sure of the year they switched & not sure if the fire wagons used same setup on s/n or not yall have a goodone Mack

  8. Today i cracked both lines that i replaced saturday & reprimed system (handpump ) clean fuel came through thankfully (i done this thinking some old fuel might had still been in system & might had geled & check see if i had any air in it as well ) also checked the shutoff lever is ok as well, thinking maybe trash in line maybe any ideas ? but i dont if i mentioned this yesterday or not i couldnt get him to start by igntion(spell?) switch even w/ 2 brand new hot batterys thats reason i thought of the parallel switch maybe a loose ground wire somewhere other than stater (i checked that one ) that im unaware of ? maybe generator ? ideas yall? the fuel problem isnt driving me nuts like the electrical problem is electric was never my best thing even to this day but this "pup" is willing to learn im gonna get my buddy back over again this weekend since i checked lines & try to pull him off again . Yall have a goodone Mack

  10. PUT NEW BATTERYS , fresh motor oil flushed radator , put seafoam treatment & fresh diesel (along w/ new filters) went to cranck him up (after 2 years of sitting ) nothing not even a whirl so i tried jumping off nothing got to the switch tried to jump it by shorting starter turning over but sounds like not fast enough the ole 711 got a real slow turn to him like not enough juice going to him (i know better than to short it out fellas but im desprate to hear him & see put out that out the stack of my s/a B-Model i even got a buddy mine to try to pull start him off w/ his 1ton chevy the "old dog " as i call him will cranck no more than 25 feet at most uaually (my dad & grandfather was bad about swiping batterys from 1 truck to another so this how i know bout how far to pull the "old dog") but nothing motor turning over making smoke (white & black) when pulling off air compresser making air i had brakes when 1 ton was pulling me he wants to come back to life but my question is does the electrical system affect it even when pull starting do i need to replace the switch ? or do i have bigger problems ? i hope its somthing simple like maybe the switch or a lose connection normally the "old dog" gives me no problems when the "pups" would help yall please im running outta ideas bulldog man (aka Mack) BTW Barry i still have my cover fer the switch but i like that diamond plate cover i might get 1 as well as the switch
  11. When my family owned our excavating business untill last year we never hired anyone that drove strictly otr & didnt have experience w/ a mixer or lowboy or dump if they didnt have the experience they didnt get hired cause we didnt have the time to train them . had a friend hire a otr driver from swift 1 time to drive 1 of his dumps the 1 st day 3 hours after they turned dude loose on his own (mistake) he tore the dang driveshaft u joints & broke ring & pinon gear in the truck had to pull truck back to shop loaded w/ 24 tons on red fill sand needless to say he didnt work there after that & the guy looked @ me (friend) & said ya told me so huh ? i looked @ him said yup now lest go to work on your truck I WAS STICTLY AROUND A for so long i thought 2 sticks were standard & air shift was optional in ALL TRUCKS yall have a goodone Bulldog
