  6. Yup Bob couldnt agree more "OLDDOG" is 43 yrs old & still going he Wont run but 50mph top speed on the floor put he will pull a D7G Cat & 225 Cat like a tandem & hes ONLY A SINGLE AXLE tractor (granddad ,dad & great uncle had done this back in the late 70's & up to mid to late 80's before DOT was bad on that kinda stuff ) Can remember as a kid ridding in "olddog" my uncle or granddad driving "olddog" pulling equipment should had been pulled w/ a tandem up the hills of N.W Shelby county & South Tipton county w/ the 711 stright pipe talking to ya & gearing "olddog" down maybe once while going up the hill . There was a 77' DM685S We had it had a 237 2stick 6spd double framed 16' bed w/ 2 way tailgate 20k f/a 44k r/a on macks versison of a rubberblock suspension (w/o the blocks) cant remember what they call this suspension but it wasnt CAMELBACK the ole Tandem rode better loaded than empty but like ya said ya felt like ya wrestled a gorilla @ the end of the day . but it pulled like hell w/ a 6:06 ratio gear The best riding Dumptruck we had was A 87 RD688S triaxle 350 4v Mack 6spd airshift dynatard brake 18k f/a 44k r/a double framed on Camelback 16.5' bed w/ 2waytailgate & too me had more room than THE DM I liked driving this truck & "olddog" too just my 2 cents & yall have a goodone

  8. thermodyne your quite welcome other dog : thats a cool story i too think of a few tractors & trucks too that my dad, great uncle & granddad had & I LOVED TO DRIVE OR OPERATE & They either traded or sold my favorite tractors were a 1066 BLACKSTRIPE I.H. A 2590 Case & a 1256 I.H. All had duals ,& canopys & pulled dirt pans, disks , sheepfoot rollers but when we got a 2590w/ cab & air i put 5% limo tint on the glass i thought i was in hog heaven but the i.h tractors sounded better strightpiped than the case did to me we had a 806 diesel that lil tractor was a hoss fer its size i liked putting a small landlevel behind it to fish grade tops of levvees & haul roads w/ i miss it wish i still had it but granddad sold it when i was bout 25 more like traded it for a 350 honda 4 wheeler We had a 175C I.H Crawler loader it was alright but compared to the TD25C dozer W/I.H V-8 Diesel we used to clear land w/ the 175 was a baby . I LIKE THE I.H. Equipment but the trucks always wouldnt go where a or a autocar would go & also stayedd in shop more just wouldnt hold up like a or Acar would later yall

  19. out the 4 DM's we were running 3 of the were 237 E6 Motors & like Terry said these motors are bullet proof . a couple of the R Models & a F Model we ran had them also the only reason why im getting ready to go from a 711 to a 237 or 300 E6 in "olddog" Is because the E6 Motors ya still can find parts for . later yall
  20. I have a question yall like yall @ 1 time or another i have seen the frame crack @ 1 point oranother due to age or stress but ive always seen them crack behind the cab back as far as the rear tandem or around the trunion but never in front of the steer axle . A old friend of my late granddad had a 86 RD686S factory double frame factory made dump That the frame cracked right in front of steer axle on the drivers side last week he said he was gonna part it out but im curious what could have caused this ? too much torque or POPPING THE CLUTCH While the truck was loaded or cutting too short while loaded ? Or a motor mount gone bad & too much torque& stress on the frame ? im curious to know YOUR IDEAS YALL On this yall ive never seen a truck frame crack right in front of the steer axle later yall
