Cruiseliner Transformation
Adkat replied to cruiseliner64's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Paul, one truck i service that runs 10k Kms every 3 weeks, 550k Kms and brakes look like new. Runs Line haul Another truck , 2005 model 1.6mil Kms. original drums, all but one set of shoes original. Only changed due to diffs out for overhaul. Not worn out by any means. Runs line haul Another one, 100k kms everything knackered, farm pick up milk tanker. All comes down to the job description/ driver. You blokes are doing a cracking job, keep up the good work. Won't be any chance getting the fingers knicked by that fan blade😉 Keep the pics coming. How'd you get on with the classic car dealer Joey?
-
Eups don't have a bearing on HP ratings, as Joe said, they do differ between the various versions of the etechs. What issue are you having with the EUP?
-
Yeah, wouldn't be to bad if some rain came with the cold, shouldn't be able to get on the paddock I'm into by this time of year. The pooch certainly perked up when we stopped for an egg and bacon roll.😂

Hell, thanks fellas. Was a good day with family, then out to dinner with the better half and a few 🍺🍻. Ripper of a frost -7c this morning. Shifting soil off a building site out to a farm Driving instructor wasn't too impressed by the weather Thanks again fellas Adam

@Shadyacresmack Is it the truck in the pic? It has 460 on the door. Engine or door swap, or did you mean 460? 460 to 525 with ECM tuning is possible, maybe. 400 to 525 with no hardware upgrades isn't. Is this old mate who's told you he can tune it 120hp+ with no hardware upgrades? Personally, all I can see happening from a copy and paste tune, is that it'll burn up your engine, and your wallet. If he said " bring your truck in and we'll tune it on the dyno" then maybe you'll have half a chance at a decent result. Can't talk from experience, but by all accounts, Rochester or Antrim and maybe others, could get you sorted for injectors and turbo and make some good gains without loosing too much reliability. As Joey said, 400 to 460, pretty sure you'll be pulling the cam to swap keys, plus turbo and injectors. That is if you have a 400. I'd start at the basics, check for boost leaks, fuel pressure, valve clearance. Get it plugged in and verify the engine settings too. Have you got a boost pressure & pyro gauge in the truck, these readings can tell you a lot about what's going on if your down on power. I'd say their essential if your running in hilly country. As mark said, diff ratio could be crippling you too, at 90k I wouldn't go taller than 4.3 diffs with a .73od box. I've got 4.56 in a 155k rated CLS 460 and even at 90k its not breaking any records. But it'll do it all day long regardless. Two things to remember, there ain't no replacement for displacement. And there ain't no free rides, you've gotta pay for the ponies. Adam

Check your throttle linkage for play, missing return spring at pump. And as Paul said, a little more info. I take it you know what driveline vibration feels like? Adam
-
Reckon it attaches through the hole top red circle and hooks onto the pedal bottom red circle. Blue circle there looks like wear mark on side of pedal stop plate from the spring. And below the hole above it looks like wear marks too. Kinda heavy looking spring for a pedal return. Looks like a Q brake shoe retaining spring. See how you go. Adam

Surely someone's gotta have a need for it. Be a waste to scrap it.

Yeah I'm the same Paul. Put me in a crowded place and I can't make out squat of a conversation with the person next to me. A whole lot of smile and nod's.

Yep temp switch could be going bad. 155 sounds alright if your just poking about not really working the engine, possibly a little on the low side , would have thought it should be about 175-180ish. Get yourself an infrared temp gun and check the top pipe outlet to check the temp against the gauge Would have thought the temp warning lamp wouldn't come until around 220-230? But can't be sure. ENDT676 Water pump from Amazon

I've used a heap of that brand over the years on smaller vehicles. Never had any dramas with them. That's a damn good price too. -

Hey Bob, Reckon if it was anything like our Aussie Volvos it would have been an SR1400/1700 Volvo box, full synchro, clutch every gear and to split. Air assist clutch so wasn't too hard on the leg. -
Vmac iii engine brake.
Adkat replied to mackrmodel686st's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
You can test it with the engine running, put a + jump wire to the pin at the cover spacer and see what each head is doing. If they both work, your issue is in the loom or switch. If one doesn't fire you'll have to open up the valve covers and dig a little deeper. Could be solenoid or broken wire. -
