  1. Korean Planetary axles? On a Kenworth? You sure they weren't SISU axles(Finland)? What a waste. They should have just swapped out the axles for a domestic set.
  2. I am hoping its the Metroliner or a truck based on the design.
  3. CAT isn't out of the market. Their C15 "big bore" block is the heart of the International MaXXForce 15. That and their foray into the truck market with the help of International. Their CAT trucks are powered by CAT engines. CAT saw themselves as the odd man out with Cummins teaming up with PACCAR and DD bought out by Daimler. Plus their Acert emissions didn't help them much other than give them a black eye. But CAT is a huge global company and could sell truck anywhere on the planet through their dealerships. So CAT is just taking a different approach in the new world of strict emissions.
  4. Your Mack would have to have an OBD II port. I don't think any truck makers use OBD II yet but I believe they will under a new federal law. And the better question is, how does one obtain a code scanner for a Mack? Can any Joe plunk down the big bucks and buy one, or do you have to be a certified dealership/garage?
  5. DINA and RAMIREZ are the only two Mexican truck makers that I am aware of. Dina was the company that made the small Westernstar.
  6. Could be grandfathered in since the truck was built before the modern air brake systems were implemented.
  7. Looks close to an old Marmon or Dodge cabover but isn't. Possibly a Mexican built truck, they do have some manufactures down there. Westernstar once partnered with one (started with an R i think) and sold their class 7 chassis here as Westernstar. Only saw one.
  8. DA BEARS! http://www.evtv1.com/player.aspx?itemnum=6203
  9. Good luck in the transplant. I have seen some Superliners with the factory Renault hub reduction axles.
  10. When you say 6 rod I suspect you have the Renault hub reduction axles on the Renault 6 rod suspension. The frames are the same but I guarantee you will have to drill new holes in the Superliner to bolt it on.
  11. Yup! They haul through some desolate areas so they just live right in the back of the truck. Pretty hard core stuff.
  12. Those bad boys are Canadian Pacific P12W3's originally built for the South African Railroad and Harbor. Those trucks now belong to Rotran Engineering and two are still in operation. They are powered by 500HP Cummins engines and have an automatic behind them. I believe two still in operation and have been upgraded to 800HP. Pacific made some real tough trucks, they even had a camelback like suspension as well. Pacific is my second favorite brand behind Mack. Here is an amazing collection from Bob Dingsdale on Hanks site, he received many of those pictures from Pacific itself. On page 4 you will find an extensive photo collection of the S.A.R.&H P16's P12w3 including detail shots of the chassis and assembly. http://www.hankstruc...b_dingsdale.htm And the Dennis Childs collection (Works for Rotran): http://www.hankstruc...com/d_child.htm
  13. I gotta get me one of those phones.
  14. Barnhart has an Oshkosh M911 that they upgraded with planetary axles. It is not much bigger but those axles give it a tougher look.
  15. WHERE DID THIS TRUCK GO? An export model perhaps? Front driven axle, 14.00R24 rubber and from the picture it looks like it might even have 8 spoke 80k rears. What a beast!
  16. They are. This is one of the strangest dump body gates I have even seen, and I have never seen one like it anywhere else. A lift gate is used as a tail gate. Pretty unique and I have seen one of those DSNY dumps not too long ago when some moron dumped about 6-8 cu-yards of dirt across the street from our business. I called it in and a big front loader and the funky dump truck came over to clean it three days later.
  17. Torbo, Do you have a hanks truck pictures forum account? Plenty of guys would love to see these pictures over there!
  18. Trent, that is a European style dump trailer. They do look a bit odd with the super singles and fenders but that's they way they get er done on the other side of the pond. I like the Combo.
  19. I did a search over on Hanks Truck Pictures forum and found a little info. There were three trucks, one was destroyed during filming and the other two were sold off. An O/O in texas is believed to have one while the other was sold to a company, it might have been scrapped.
  20. Thanks for the heads up! And tank you to everyone at Gerharts for hosting such a wonderful show.
  21. There is a crash test standard for Euro cabovers. It was first introduced in Sweden (surprise surprise!). Its pretty rigorous and I would imaging so seeing that just about every truck in Europe is a cabover. I don't think they would drive around in death traps. Europeans are no slouches. When you hear the term cabover please realize Euro cabovers are very safe, not to be confused with North American cabovers which ceased evolving in the early 80's (save for the Argosy). They are not the old fashioned tin boxes of yesteryear.
