  1. Lol, damn I always thought DEF in the fuel was an extremely expensive mistake as it pretty much destroyed majority of the fuel system.
  2. No it doesn’t, however a slight increase in throttle will speed it up some. it’s a “small engine” and can only bring in and compress so much air at once. So there is a sweet spot.
  3. I’m all for these truck owners getting the tooling and tackling these jobs. Just sucks how expensive the tools and parts are. From what I see/hear anyone that goes to the dealership or some garage that says they can do it…6 times out of 10 the problem persists or is worse then when they get the truck back after an 8k+ bill. Then they end up attempting the job themselves and get much better results. Bottom line get the correct tools, literature, and take your time with these engines and you will be ok.
  4. With these trucks one issue can cause a chain of events. However it’s not just Mack/Volvo engines with problems. To be honest I think they have the least amount of issues.
  5. The biggest issue I have with the MPs is that if you’re gonna try and cut cost and do the work yourself you’re still gonna have to buck up to buy a lot of “speciality” tools. Even ones like this to just change a sensor. If you’re only gonna do the job once it’s pry better to just take it to the mothership, funny how that works….However I love any kind of excuse to buy a new tool!
  6. Well it got chopped by something and that would be the gear…I’d suggest getting the depth gauge tool and a new sensor. https://ww2-secure.justanswer.com/uploads/HE/HeavyEquipmentTech/2013-12-09_223544_mack_mp8_cam_sensor_replacement_pv776-88968446.pdf
  7. Yup, but either you get over it or buy something older. Can’t stop progress…
  8. Three way switch. Up is latch which is engine brake on as soon as you take your foot off of the throttle or shut the cruise off. Middle is auto and that’s when speed gets to 4mph over your set speed the engine brake comes on. Bottom is set and that’s to set the speed your engine brake comes on at. The other switch is control switch for engine brake which is off/med/hi.
  9. Test the boost pressure sensor (Key on/Engine off reading should be under 1 psi) Also has anyone messed with any of the parameters on this truck?

Awesome!! Nice truck too. Love the pics, thanks for sharing.
  11. It’s also not a step lol
  12. 85108827 transmission cooler line release tool for 18mm europower fitting. Mack/Volvo
  13. Since we are on the subject of cooling systems for these trucks and what comes out must go back in, this tool I find is a must have for any newer diesel. Any kind of air in these systems is detrimental to parts especially egr coolers. Doesn’t have to be snap on but i find this one works very well. https://shop.snapon.com/product/Cooling-System-Vacuum-Fillers/Truck-Coolant-Refiller/SVTSRAD372TA
  14. What would be nice if there was a section to just post useful tools for trucks with part numbers/pictures.

Sorry to hear about your mom, 93 is a damn good age. Hopefully she pulls through. Really enjoyed the story of the doctor coming in to save the old dog. Must be pretty rewarding when you get called in to figure something out no one else can….especially when the shop forman says “hold on I know of a guy”
  16. Let me know if you need anything else.
  17. Did you get the truck fixed?
  18. Anytime you replace a part you should. The 7th injector is high on the list like a turbo.
