  1. Yup, that's the plan. Since it appears that I will be changing out the entire diff, I will just use one that already has air ride. Otherwise i was going to add it to the old diff.
  2. I have a 283/5spd out of an '80 gravel truck that i am planning on running. Only planning to pull my 5th wheel holiday trailer with it which is not very heavy. Was thinking to get a gear that would put me close to peak torque at 100KPH (60 MPH) so around 1200 RPMish for best fuel economy. Will be running 11R22.5's. I assume that the trans is direct in 5th but need to confirm that yet.
  3. Mine are all single axles units. I guess i will be looking for a complete swap. thanks for the info.

  5. Are there faster gear sets available for the B-61 diffs, something in the 3:40 range?. I would like to keep the "Mack" script diff housing but want a faster gear ratio.
  6. Thanks. I looked that colour up and it is somewhat similar (a little but brighter) to the early Ford green that I am considering.
  7. Of course. I'm not asking for someone to PICK a colour for me, just make some suggestions and/or share some ideas for me to choose form.
  8. I picked up the engine/trans ( a 283/5spd from an '80 gravel truck) for one of my B-61's the other day and have been pondering what colour i want for it. I power washed it and cleaned it up and it was a dark reddish colour (that I don't like). I have been thinking on this for awhile and can't seem to be able to think of a colour that makes me go "THAT'S the one!!". Don't like the gold or grey that mack used. Right now i am leaning towards Ford green as used on the Model A's and early flatheads or (some may want to sit down for this) Caterpillar yellow with black valve covers. Any and all suggestions on what would be a good colour choice (preferably with pics) will be appreciated.
  9. How much do you want for them. If Frank Y no longer needs them, I am also looking for 2 sets of each
  10. This post reminded me of a song my daughter sent me awhile back. Sorry...it rap but the message is clear.
  11. I have little patients for people like that. My wife used to be a EMT and was called to an accident a block from our house so i went with her. It was the local waste of skin, useless welfare leach that had fallen off a ladder and dislocated his elbow. As he lay there in the flower bed, unable/willing to move waiting for the ambulance (that was 40 minutes away) my wife asked him "on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the pain?" to which he replied "it's a 10, it's a 10!!!!". I had to turn and walk away. On the way home later i told the wife that I could never do that job. She giggled and asked "why?". I said "because if that was me, i would have ground my heel into his elbow and said 'so, if THAT is a ten, what was the pain before?". A ten!!!!! try telling that to someone with 3rd degree burns to 90% of their body that your dislocated elbow is a 10 out of 10 for pain. I know people (including myself) that have picked themselves up from worse and went back to work to finish the day.
  12. If it helps, I have no intention of getting the vaccine so I for one will certainly not be ahead of you. I get the age thing but who is the government to decide which works are "essential" which aren't?. It should start with the oldest that want it and work it's way down the the chronological ladder IMO PERIOD!!! Just another in the LONG list of things this government is doing to fracture the population into "us" and "them" by treating some people as more important that others based on their occupation. We have the most divisive and racist government I have ever seen in my 59 years. For you Americans, "welcome to my nightmare".
  13. It will certainly make people more susceptible IMO. I believe the immune system, like our muscles and our mind, diminish if we don't use them and get stronger the more we do.
  14. I don't think that is correct. My daughter in law thought she may have COVID because she couldn't smell or taste so she got tested (even though my son said she only had a cold) and tested negative. My son caught a cold and as per company policy where he works had to get tested an came back negative.
  15. Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. While I would agree with your position on capitalism and it's need for a level of regulation, I disagree with your interpretation of the OP. I re-read the paragraph to which you referred and nowhere did I get the notion that they were portraying Capitalism as "flawless". It only says that it is better than the alternatives. Being "the best" does not suggest being "flawless". It suggests fewer flaws that the alternatives. Also, nowhere did I read anything that suggests that capitalism should be 100% regulation free. It doesn't mention regulation at all. You make some good points but they are not relevant to the paragraph to which you are responding that I can see. As far as "who in fact is claiming that capitalism it self is inherently oppressive"?, REALLY?? Start with Bernie Sanders and then every single one of his supporters. Their whole premise is that capitalism is a platform from which the rich getting richer off the backs of the poor and is designed to keep the poor, poor. For the most part I think your response was great, just fail to see the relevance to the OP. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it.
  16. That's a pretty strong accusation. Care to elaborate?.
  17. WHAT IS GASLIGHTING? The term originates in the systematic psychological manipulation of a victim by her husband in Patrick Hamilton’s 1938 stage play Gas Light, and the film adaptations released in 1940 and 1944. In the story, the husband attempts to convince his wife and others that she is insane by manipulating small elements of their environment and insisting that she is mistaken, remembering things incorrectly, or delusional when she points out these changes. The play's title alludes to how the abusive husband slowly dims the gas lights in their home, while pretending nothing has changed, in an effort to make his wife doubt her own perceptions. The wife repeatedly asks her husband to confirm her perceptions about the dimming lights, but in defiance of reality, he keeps insisting that the lights are the same and instead it is she who is going insane. Today, we are living in a perpetual state of gaslighting. The reality that what we are being told by the media is at complete odds with what we are seeing with our own two eyes. And when we question the false reality that we are being presented, or we claim that what we see is that actual reality, we are vilified as racist or bigots or just plain crazy. You’re not racist. You’re not crazy. You’re being gaslighted. New York State has twice as many deaths from Covid-19 than any other state, and New York has accounted for one fifth of all Covid-19 deaths, but we are told that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has handled the pandemic better than any other governor. But if we support policies of Governors whose states had only a fraction of the infections and deaths as New York, we’re called anti-science and want people to die. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. We see mobs of people looting stores, smashing windows, setting cars on fire and burning down buildings, but we are told that these demonstrations are peaceful protests, and when we call this destruction of our cities, riots, we are called racists. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. We see the major problem destroying many inner-cities is crime; murder, gang violence, drug dealing, drive-by shootings, armed robbery, but we are told that it is not crime, but the police that are the problem in the inner-cities. We are told we must defund the police and remove law enforcement from crime-riddled cities to make them safer But if we advocate for more policing in cities overrun by crime, we are accused of being white supremacists and racists. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. The United States of America accepts more immigrants than any other country in the world. The vast majority of the immigrants are “people of color”, and these immigrants are enjoying freedom and economic opportunity not available to them in their country of origin, but we are told that the United States is the most racist and oppressive country on the planet, and if we disagree, we are called racist and xenophobic. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. Capitalist countries are the most prosperous countries in the world. The standard of living is the highest in capitalist countries. We see more poor people move up the economic ladder to the middle and even the wealthy class through their effort and ability in capitalist countries than any other economic system in the world, but we are told capitalism is an oppressive system designed to keep people down. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. Communist countries killed over 100 million people in the 20th century. Communist countries strip their citizens of basic human rights, dictate every aspect of their lives, treat their citizens as slaves, and drive their economies into the ground, but we are told that Communism is the fairest, most equitable, freest, and most prosperous economic system in the world. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. The most egregious example of gaslighting is the concept of “white fragility”. You spend your life trying to be a good person, trying to treat people fairly and with respect. You disavow racism and bigotry in all its forms. You judge people solely on the content of their character and not by the color of their skin. You don’t discriminate based on race or ethnicity. But you are told you are a racist, not because of something you did or said, but solely because of the color of your skin. You know instinctively that charging someone with racism because of their skin color is itself racist. You know that you are not racist, so you defend yourself and your character, but you are told that your defense of yourself is proof of your racism. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted. Gaslighting has become one of the most pervasive and destructive tactics in American politics. It is the exact opposite of what our political system was meant to be. It deals in lies and psychological coercion, and not the truth and intellectual discourse. If you ever ask yourself if you’re crazy, you are not. Crazy people aren’t sane enough to ask themselves if they’re crazy. So, trust yourself, believe what’s in your heart. Trust your eyes over what you are told. Never listen to the people who tell you that you are crazy, because you are not, you’re being gaslighted. Sophocles said: "What people believe prevails over the truth." And that's what the media are trying to exploit. If you have read this far let me say one thing. I did not write the above and I am not sure who the author is. I sent this to you because you are hopefully smart enough to understand what is being done to you on a daily basis from many directions. I do not care about your political party affiliation. Just think through what you are being told. Don't listen with a deaf ear, or see with a blind eye. Question everything -- even things from people who you think you can trust. Question why you are being told whatever, by whomever. Question their motives. Question who benefits. Question if there is a hidden agenda behind the propaganda. Question, Question, Question. Then do your own research, and use some of your own critical thinking skills to get to the truth. Listen with your heart and with your mind.
  18. How is pointing out those that are delusional and suffering from DTS and are so scared of Trump that they are trying to prevent him from even RUNNING again considered "ripping on Trump"?. The left is CLEARLY scared spitless of Trump, the right is not scared of Biden, the man, only scared of what Biden will do to the country in his medically demented state. He would have been bad back when he had all of his facilities but in his current state he is just plan dangerous.

  20. I've been following your progress religiously. It is going to be spectacular when it's done. great job both of you. The seats turned out great. My wife bought an industrial sewing machine to do the interior of her Model A and is still learning and getting accessories and the like that she needs. Her projects are piling up. She did the seat in a little shriners Model T that I am rebuilding for the grandkids as a first project but has the seats to do in 3 B-61's now as well as the seats for my '31 model A delivery and then whole interior for her '28 model A sedan. Oh, a coupe of snowmobile seats as well. She's gonna be busy. Thanks for the regular updates. They are much appreciated.
  21. I will be doing a similar project as you are suggesting but, unfortunately, my experience level with these trucks is about the same as yours so i can't offer any technical info. What I CAN offer though is encouragement as support in your endeavour and, if you are still looking for info when i get to mine (which will be a year at least) I will be happy to share what I learn. You are asking all the right questions before diving in so assuming you get answers to your specific questions it should be an enjoyable and rewarding project. I picked up a 283/5spd for mine and in the process of searching for a parts truck for some of the little things missing, I stumbled on 2 more 61's in nice shape, stored inside that i bought, both way too nice as parts trucks so now i have three project trucks and am still looking for a parts truck. Can you say "slippery slope??" LOL. I don't plan to change the front axle but will be changing the rear to a more highway friendly gear and air ride. I hope you have better luck than I did in your search for information. I will be following along and i hope that you get some answers that I can learn from as well. Good luck and enjoy your project
  22. That's sounds great....for you. But not everyone whats to live that way. This is a perfect example of why the whole globalist "one world" direction that we are all being pushed to is so wrong. Having individual countries with their own customs and laws and individualities gives EVERYONE somewhere to live where they can pursue their own idea of happiness and success. There is a reason that so many people fled Europe over the last 250 years to come to north America. North America was a haven for those that wanted to "make it on their own", something that they could not do in Europe. However, not everyone whats to "make it on their own" and there needs to be a place on this planet for those, as well as those of us that do. You don't have to agree with it but you should respect others right to live how they want even if you don't understand it. Personally, while I understand how that would appeal to some, I would never want to live in a country like you describe but I support your right to as long as that way of life is not being forced on me. Some people like unions to look after their interests for them, other want to take care of their own destiny. Some pop,e what to live in a Home owners association district where there are rules as to how you can live and how your house/yard must look, others do not. There are LOTS of countries that offer what you describe (to some degree). Why can't North America remain a place for those of us that choose otherwise???
