  1. I always measure my shelf depth, I keep an old liner that i trimmed. i measure each time i use it, write down my measurements. shelf depth usually falls around 4".03... on an uncut counter bore.... i take that measurement along with the new liner measurement. around 4".10... anyway,... when I set a liner i shoot for .028" protrusion. I always get my liners within .002"... mack spec is .023-.029... Im telling you this because I hope who is doing the build understands this... Vmac3... please chime in... I have seen too many engine builds go bad because the "tech" said he could do it..
  2. yes..... As far as inspecting it with idea of re-using the liners, in rare cases in my experience you can do that. However, why take the chance? Hopefully when he pulls the liners, the counter bore shelf will be good. if not, just get them cut.. I have always built these engines with Mack parts, but 4 months ago i built a 1990 E-7 with P.A.I. engine kit and heads.. so far the truck is running goo, I talk to my customer often to keep up on it.. I'm sure a few others will chime in on this, there are a lot of smart people here.. "F" from canada, and vmac3.... They may offer some advice too.. Jojo Good luck, let me know how it goes.. a

Merry Christmas to you and yours! I've been wanting a beer for over a week now, they call out to me every time I open the refrigerator.  But when I went to the Dr's. office for that gout over a week ago the first thing the nurse said was " you know, red meat, seafood-especially shellfish- and beer are the worst things for gout". I thought "great, 3 of my favorite things ".

  6. Hello, I'm trying to find one of these dust shields. I sure could use a Part number... Thank you, Jojo.
  7. Yes sir I am,,, yes and the Davco filters have a coil inside that coolant can flow through if the fuel heater option is used.. Jojo
  8. Yes I remember E.U.P. issues, what do you think about the A.P.U. causing this issue, provided the truck has one.... I have done the simple fix of replaceing the Davco 382 filter assembly, to stop contamination, however in N.C. i dont see too many with coolant connected to them. When I lived in Maine, I saw plenty.. I have also only replaced 1 cup in an E-Tech, Glad youre here, Jojo
  9. Hello Jeff M. Great picture. I lived there 25 years, I Graduated from Gray New Gloucster high school in 1987, I drove for Mietta construction in Scarborough for 2 years, 98-2000(Late 70" RD's and DM's)... Merry Christmas, Jojo..
  10. does the engine look like it was re-assembled? New heads, Turbo, water pump, fuel lines, Paint, air filter, radiator, ? If it's an IEGR engine, and was really re-built, check warranty status. The IEGR engines are good, .. Good luck , Jojo
  11. Just curious.... does the truck have an A.P.U.?
  12. Just curious... "V".. are you suggesting there is a Davco filter on the truck and it failed?? I'm trying to think how this could happen on a Legacy engine... sounds like an 8-3 code... i dont think he has an MP ...I pay attention to to what you write. I worked in mack dealerships for 9 years.. i left 2 years ago... Glad youre here, Jojo

    Engine Manual

Is yours a 4valve? If so I have the real shop manual.. I sent the 2 valve book just so you can see the book P/N.. Jojo.
  14. Hello again, i checked with P.A.I... I was not able to buy directly from them,  this is the second time I tried recently.. I have a login name and password with them. My question is, Do I have to be a big truck repair shop or Dealership ? Have you been able to buy from them? I found what I need at another parts supplier, the parts were.... P.A.I.... It reminds me of not being able to buy Kent-Moore and O.T.C. tools directly.. Take care, Jojo

  15. thanks,, I had a brain fart, I dont do as many anymore. I built an e-7 3 months ago, but off course forgot ... Thanks again... I'm getting rusty:)
  16. Yes sir, I know what your saying, My customer wants it original, I may be able to convince him to use bolts... Talked to him today, w'ell see... I think e-7's had sae threads... 5/8x11..... Thanks for youre input, Jojo
  17. ok, Thanks Mack Pro, Im glad you were watching, I dont want to give out wrong info..Jojo
  18. Hello, Does anyone know the part number for the head studs, My studs bores are 5/8X11 thread, The tops are fine thread..? I was about to install my heads and when I opened the boxes of studs that i have. They were smaller, Probably 9/16".... I guess there for an END 18 hole engine.. I have a 20 hole engine.. Thanks, Jojo
  19. I may have misunderstood the question, you said "swap".... I was thinking Horse power rather than whole engine... Sorry, Jojo
  20. Mack Grey Kicks AS#!! I put that Shi% on everything..
  21. dont you also have to install an offset cam key with the white side facing out?? (3 degrees advanced) Jojo
  22. im wondering if the tappets for the power leash were installed wrong on all 6... the pin goes up into the rocker and the cap goes on top of it... was the power leash adjusters backed off? that engine has spring loaded push rods on the exhaust, and pinless intakes but also may have pinless exh. bridges too... there is a lot of room for pushrod stroke if all is backed off like you said..
