Yes Hayseed,, i tried to delete my attachments.. You tried to guide me through it.. I was not able to delete the pictures without deleting the posting that they were in.. I forgot how I learned about making a donation, but , after I did donate, I was given a lot more storage for pictures.. Jut sayin'.. Of course, it is quite possible that I made mistakes when I tried to clean out pictures.. jojo

are there spider web cracks at the mount bolts? I forget if there is a piece of flat stock inside the door where the mount bolts come through.

It seems to be the case, MarkT.. I have a machine shop here. one of only 2 within an hour from me.. I had some connecting rods re-bushed for a John Deere 3179 I was building.. I brought them home, and when I was ready to install them, I found the bushings werent fitted to the new wrist pin that I put in the box with them. If I had known that was how it would have been done, I would of just pressed them myself.. I did fit them myself. I even had to ream out the oil hole in the bushing because they were only half way open. I know you will build a sweet running engine.. Jojo

Im not really sure why a Mack 200 or 300 series synchro would go out early? a lot of the time, the o-rings for the range shifters are not replaced/lubed every few years.. Sometimes I think that drivers flip to 'lo' at too high of a road speed and over speed the rear tranny gears.. I have seen worn clutching teeth, which I relate too slow range shifters due to bad or dry orings.. anyway, I dont know if you have ever been inside a 200 or 300 series Mack tranny.. The synchro is large compared to Eaton or meritor.. I describe it as a 2 sides motorcycle clutch.. I believe there are 14 friction plates and 12 pressure plates, plus a thick thrust washer.. It really isnt hard to repair, but having a book for the first few times is very important.. too many steps, too just 'wing-it'... 🍻

The book is 23 years old.. I got it after finishing Tranny school for Mack.. I have 4 sets of tranny and rear end books
