  1. Quick question on the advice you gave me about my ai400 cam/lifter replacement kit.
would you have a rough estimate on the time it would take to do the actual replacement with kit? I have everything removed I’m just ready to open up the front of the engine and get to the cam. Thanks

Good evening , well I’ve got the camshaft out and sure enough it’s shot. #1 and #6 lobes are scored up pretty bad. Any tricks to getting the drive gear off the end of the old cam to put it onto the new one?

forgot to ask- is there any way to line up the h-ring and tap it back in without pulling the head?  The only one that’s out is on cylinder #1 and I would really rather not pull the head for just that one h ring.

If you have an h-ring that moved, it must be replaced. You have to pull the head.  Sorry ,bud but you will need the tool, and new h-rings. I usually use the smallest over sized ring. There are only 2 oversizes.  I sure hope you have the book for this work.  It must be followed..

Since the cam is junk, are you going to keep it and have it re- ground or just scrap it ? The gear presses off in a shop press.  PO putting the gear on the new cam Must be done by the book.  The gear can not  pressed on or driven on.  You must bake it in an oven to 450 degrees and drop it on quickly..  if you heat it with a torch it will warp..  i wish you were posting this in the forum rather than my profile..
