  1. Why is the pump brand new? Was it to try and correct this problem you are having? Meaning, did the engine have the exact same symptoms before the oil pump was replaced? When did the symptoms start?
  2. Where would someone park a passenger car if travelling from out of town to Macungie to go to the show? I've never been there before and trying to go this year. I don;t know anything about the logistics of getting there, parking, entry fees, etc.
  3. I would think this is 100% false. 180F is clearly at the very low side of the green normal range on the gauge. Most diesel engines operate between 180 and 210. 210 is probably where an engine will operate if the cooling system is under maintained and on a long hard pull. a 50/50 glycol water mixture used in a 15-16 psi cooling system will have a boiling point of 235-240 degrees F. Obviously heat is the enemy and you want to run a cool as possible but steady state 180F while under full load is not any cause for concern whatsoever IMO. With that said I think these gauges are garbage. I went through this same thing a while back on my 94 RD. My gauge read about the same thing under steady state operation. I was concerned because it is still in the green normal range but if you try to figure out what the water temperature really is based on that gauge I think you would say its somewhere between 215 and 225. Who knows. but 215-225 is too hot for steady state operation IMO. I have no realistic way to test the accuracy of the gauge so I replaced the temperature sensor in the water manifold that gives the gauge its signal. It actually made the gauge read a little higher. I just didn't believe it. I checked the upper radiator hose with an infrared gun and was getting readings in the 170-180 range depending on when and where I took the reading from. I figured the original gauge could not be trusted or realistically used to tell where the engine was running at. I bought a high quality, USA made, mechanical temperature gauge and installed it as a redundancy and to see what the water temperature is actually doing. My E7 runs a 180-182 all day long and on a long hard pull may get up to 185-188 but never exceeds 190. As others have said go after all the easy stuff first. Clean and check the condition of the cooling system. Thermostat. Fan clutch. Boost leaks. Etc. If they all check out OK do yourself a favor and get a good gauge that will actually tell you what's going on.
  4. What a shame. Looks like the one size fits all mantra manufacturers push has taken over Mack. Customer: "I want a truck specd to my preferences for a specific application." Mack: "There are no options anymore. Here is your 2024 Granite with an MP8 445C engine, Mdrive transmission, and hub pilot wheels. We will notify you when the first recall comes in."
  5. Me three. But mine are dirty. I Wouldn't run anything else. If I was buying a new one today I would spend the extra money for them if they are still available.
  6. If you get a chance ask the sales manager or a knowledgeable (might be a long shot lol) salesman at your dealership if he knows if you can order a new Mack with them.
  7. Looks like tons of different spoke hubs are still available new from Gunite and Accuride. See link below. I just wonder if they are just being made for parts for existing applications or if they can be installed as new equipment on a 2024. I think new hubs have an exciter ring or something like that manufactured into them for the ABS and wheel speed sensors. I just wonder if any of the spoke hubs being made today are compatible with all that nonsense... Product Search | Accuride (accuridecorp.com)
  8. Did you end up selling your Marmon or do you still have it?
  9. The question still stands: Can you purchase a 2024 Mack with spoke hubs from the factory? Paul said you can in AU. My question pertains to USA. The newest Mack I have seen with factory spoke wheels was a 2003 Granite.
  10. Kind of last minute as the live auction is tomorrow in Grand Rapids, Ohio. 1970 Cummins powered Mack RS700L. It is lot #130. Says it is from the estate of Vern Hoffman. Anybody know of Vern? There is also a really nice Marmon conventional there to that was Vern's. Lot #132. No affiliation with auction just passing along. 1970 Mack RS700L sleeper | Collector Cars Classic Trucks | Online Auctions | Proxibid 1990 Marmon Semi with sleeper | Collector Cars Classic Trucks | Online Auctions | Proxibid
  11. I was just wondering if anybody knows or has bought a new Mack in the past few years. Can you still order a Mack (probably a Granite if any) with spoke hubs and dayton wheels? I know there were some pictures of a couple a few years back of some sitting at the Mack factory but I think they were for an export customer. Just wondering if you can still get spoke hubs new in 2024 if one so desired.
  12. Extremely interesting trip I would guess. I'm curious if you speak Farsi. How are you able to get around in these seemingly rural areas of Iran without knowing their language?
  13. Daytons > Hub Pilot > Budd. Change my mind. 😁
  14. Contact Ray Sidella @mack mhe9 here on the forum. He has transported antique trucks for me in the past and a really great guy. Last I knew he has a dedicated weekly run from somewhere in Wisconsin to Pennsylvania and other places on the East Coast. A lot of times he has a lot of empty space on his low boy. Michigan is kinda of right along his route. He might be able to bring this to PA pretty reasonable. If you need his phone number send me a PM and I can get that to you.
  15. I wonder where that milk trailer is today. I would really like to find one to put behind my 1967 R Model. I've been casually looking for one for a while and they are like hens teeth and if you do find one they are usually all smashed up.....
  16. Interesting to see a hub mounted backup bell still installed on something.....
  17. The Facebook listing says it belonged to an amusement park company so its probably from the same outfit.
  18. Saw the following listing on Marketplace and thought I would pass it along. No affiliation. Very nice truck IMO. Price seems very good IMO considering how little most likely needs done to it. If I liked cabovers I would be getting this one. 1984 Mack Mh600 - Commercial Vehicles - Garrettsville, Ohio | Facebook Marketplace | Facebook
  19. What a ridiculous statement. Does the Union honestly think Volvo didn't check into this before deciding to invest hundreds of millions into increased capacity in Mexico manufacturing? In the same announcement Volvo announced an $80 million investment into Lehigh Valley Assembly. They didn't announce any layoffs at Lehigh Valley. What does the UAW want? You could hand a union man a free $100 bill and he would bitch because you folded it wrong. I don't think it has anything to do with caring about workers more so than trying to operate as profitably as possible under the current laws, economics, and circumstances. Why wouldn't a company like Volvo increase manufacturing in Mexico? NAFTA basically incentivizes companies to use cheap, Mexican labor tariff free. I love watching videos of the 1992 Presidential debates. Every single thing Ross Perot said came true. The man was a literal genius. My guess is better than 80% of UAW membership voted for Bill Clinton. Reap what you sow. Are Mexican assembled vehicles of lower quality than USA/Sweden assembled? Maybe, maybe not? Doesn't matter. The industry and society as a whole have accepted lower quality products a long time ago. Everyone complains about cheaply designed and assembled products made from junk materials but the vast majority of people will buy the cheap junk many times over. No manufacturer is making anything as quality and reliable as a 1973 R model. In this day and age it would be wise for a manufacturer to build something as cheaply and easily as possible with just enough durability to get it through any warranty period.
  20. Its been a while since I drove an ASET AMI but as I recall they were very gutless in low rpms. Pretty respectable reliability for an early EGR engine but completely contrary to what Mack vocational engines had been since the 237 Maxidyne was made in 1965. The AMIs had zero lugging ability and seemed like they were derated below 1300 -1350 RPMs. The old mechanical E6 & E7 Maxidynes would keep pulling like a freight train down to 1100. These things were nothing like that. My guess is your current ratio is specd to keep the Revs where they are for a reason. I would not want an AMI 370 to cruise below 1300 or 1400 RPM.
  21. You sure about that? BalticShipping.com, which is somewhat equivalent to flightaware.com for commercial freighter ships lists the ships master (captain) as Ukranian with a US Visa expiring on 11-14-2025. The engineman/oiler is listed as Indian. I know what nationality legacy media is saying the captain is. All I'm saying is there is a credible source saying something else. I don't think the captain was in sole control of the ship when it collided with the bridge and my previous post does not imply that he was. Don't read any further into my previous post than what the words explicitly say. I'm not in the least implying this is some conspiracy. All I'm saying is a credible source has the captain listed as Ukranian and this boat has crashed into other infrastructure before....in Belgium. The boat was built in 2015 so I would consider it fairly new.
  22. Two interesting things that have been reported on and verified are the captain driving this boat when it collided with the bridge is Ukranian. Also there is footage of the Dali colliding with docks at the port in Antwerp Belgium in 2016. Not sure if it was the same crew or not. I'm guessing not.
  23. If Stellantis / Fiat/ Dodge / Ram or whatever they are called these days had any sense they would just replace their mediocre Hemi with one of these as the gas engine option in their 2500s and up. They already have the exclusive agreement with Cummins for light duty diesels. From looking at the performance specs my guess is this thing would run circles around the 6.4 Hemi for towing and heavy duty pickup work and would probably be more efficient while doing it. The two major drawbacks I see for this as a base gas engine would be weight and cost. This thing is probably a few hundred pounds heavier than a Hemi v8
