  1. will be off topic I know but am not concerned. just got off the phone with a truck driver/ farmer I know well. he has a problem with a diesel farm tractor. usually there laughter/joking from him. instead Bill said the trooper was my neighbor. His two children would come over and feed my cows. I listened as a grown tough as nails farmer broke down, having all to complete the sentence. respect for Law Enforcement personal has sunk to all time low. WE MUST BAND TOGETHER and change that.
  2. positive note to stay on topic;; the '73 looks amazing , knowing it now has passed the "loaded field trip " another plus.
  3. P O S is too good a term for the slime ball. morning news identified the murderer. long rap sheet in other country . wife and two young children don't have a Father due to low life scum
  4. now that's what's called a constructive conversation.
  5. so if I get my wife to show me two pictures; would that mean 2000 words less and so quite !!
  6. short version of all this from an old mans point of view; really doesn't make much difference if a 450 hp is brought to 1000 hp or what ever .. the key to survival is how the operator having controls handles it. slower up the hills but still gets there works. paid by the load could be a factor. 500 horse doesn't get there fast enough then get another paid by hr job.
  7. I'm not understanding the "sounds like a jimmy" part. which brings couple questions . 1- how is the engine running temp wise ? 2- could radiator need a cleaning on fins causing fan to work harder? I would go with a horton having electric fan control switch in cab. might be able to change fan from all steel to steel/ plastic combo.
  8. "I'll be laying it on thick to begin with" !! have you been watching toooo much biden on TV again ??? LMAO🤣 can't wait to see finished product. primer/paint soon ?
  9. did a clutch outside on a DM611SX using the plywood technic and a square plate car ratchet jack. for short while rebuilt clutches were used. owner bought a rebuilt which turned out faulty. had so much fun balancing a QUADBOX which weight cased the small iron jack wheels to crack plywood I did it TWICE!! at least owner bought a new clutch second time.
  10. if that unit had a tall stack air cleaner pipe instead of the shorty, the lower mirror bracket would have gone straight across to air cleaner pipe ; not the barrel mounting clamp.
  11. that is one fine looking unit . thanks for info. looked at all 11 pages of items in the auction. person can get in real "trouble" there. lot of good stuff.
  12. more proof to the statement " do it right the first time ", everything will work right the first time. units lookin good. have done a couple B C R changes, U 611 ST glider kit , numerous rewires. your project was definitely more involved.
  13. reason for the recess is due to the U and DM's being offset cabs the fuel tanks are flush with cab while the fuel tanks on the centered R's have the tanks out ward of cabs/doors. without the recess a lot of stumbles/ falls might result with foot going between tank and lower cab
  14. you know how . that's the difference between a slam dunk . I know everything gear jammer and a professional driver who takes a moment to understand and properly operate equipment. captain kirk never got lost with the star ship enterprise !; how could you possibly state while sitting in and ON THE GROUND unit " I was lost "!!! come on now . LOL
  15. It's an optical illusion the mirrors DON"T mount to the door on passenger side. the mirrors mount to the air cleaner tube and the air cleaner tube has a V bracket on top which mounts to the rain gutter area of cab. looking at pictures appears to be one brace assembly= it is not. passenger doors on U/DM's don't ; never did open fully. and YES it was: is a PIA to access engine or interior from passenger side. would be great to hear from U/ Dm owners having right hand drive units.
  16. not only does it look sharp ; it practical and safety positive.
  17. it was recently posted here the U model replaced the C model . to obtain the short wheelbase for city delivery/ longer trailers. I never thought of that or maybe I did and forgot. using the same cab for the U's/ DM600 and DM 800 was a smart move on part of Mack boys. the DM 800 I drove part-time was not only majestic looking going down the highway ; but lunch time the large front fenders made a comfortable seat while the hood became a dining room table. LOL at 6'1" I could climb in the engine compartment on the 800 and close the hood with room to spare. that DM811SX was sporting a 673. not the 864
  18. you haven't experienced fun till you change a starter in DM600/ U model.
  19. nope :: from what I see/ read on these forums dealing with this "new" iron !!=glad I'm out of full time truck repair. 10= 12 hrs is better then ?? . not going off topic ; got a roll off with hyd leak added to list today !!!
  20. no offence but from my point of view = your statement/question would be similar to a person walking into a Dr. office saying "I don't feel good. what's wrong". a little/lot more detail would be helpful. 1- what if anything did you look at? 2- what has been done to unit recently ? 3- batteries old/new ? 4- 2019 Mack ?model /engine /pictures ?? that's a start (now there's a pun ) get it truck don't start= there's a start !!😱
  21. to bad it's so late at night = bet there's an interesting story with the flour ! one thing in common with the cement/ flour both need a little water. depends on whether you are putting down a floor or baking some bread. couldn't help myself😁, has been a long day and very early start tues. going some place (NY/MA ??) to assist with pick up of plow equipment.
  22. make sure you have a real good set of ear plugs . the echo chamber is challenging. had a customer running stainless milk tanks . been inside number of times= dents or crack repair. used a small 115 v wire feed with stainless wire and carry on bottle of gas. never had much luck with the flux coated wire.
  23. you were faster then me writing LOL . I don't know all the new model designations. after R's/ DM's etc rest are too new for me. must still have some that would flex enough to fit while looking like the truck=classy. extensions not only practical but look nice.
  24. not to add to the "list" I'm sure like most of us ,you have ; a roll/strip of universal fender extension or possibly Mack= DM or newer would work. glass in few lite metal angle iron pieces on inner fender which can mount rubber extensions.?? don't want the poor bulldog on mirrors getting dirty/muddy from tires.
  25. no words but tears thinking how sad this scene takes place way to often. went it happens just once that's to many.
