  1. now that would make a noise 😁
  2. agree ALOT of it i don't want to think about,, not the work as much as how the work came before family. still see a little 6/7 yr old girl (my daughter) staring at me one day saying;; mommy who is that man. She's 49 now and i still apologize to Her for being such an ass--le.
  3. think I got off topic ;; sorry. might be a good title for odds and ends ====remember when
  4. If only a "round the camp fire "group can get together for the ;; remember when stories. can laugh till the tears roll. just didn't seem funny when they took place .LOL clutch job on loaded ford dump in snow on side of the road= owner didn't want to pay for wrecker.;; steering box change on KW K100 upstate NY during ice storm; trip to maryland for alternator change . road calls back then covered the east coast:: CT to PA,MD> virginia, maine. no GPS or cell phones. the knees, hips, back remind me of the memories every day..
  5. quick short version of learning experience with trans gearing. a company i did work for had F-model /twin stick 10 trans old steel tank hauling pool water . going up a steep hill road. the "ace"went to shift and missed. rear half trans blew wide open. neighbors called the cops " a big truck spiling gas on the road; it was pool water. truck in small shop, owner goes up street to competitor steels a 10 speed laying outside. they had a party to go to. with a backhoe i pulled trans alone - they looked the same ; made one out of two. lost count of trips from backhoe to truck lining up trans to eng. had to run next day. point is next day "mr . hotshot" bitc--d about the difference in shifting . back half gears didn't do well with front half.LOL
  6. i don't recall EVER seeing a main shaft break, have seen transmissions explode due to a hot shot truck driver miss a shift.
  7. dang ==modern technology :: "we " make um to break um. I didn't know that . never too old to learn
  8. do they still run double disc clutches ? I have seen the center of a disc rip out . flywheel will spin, light noise change moving shift lever truck just don't go
  9. would think there should be at least some sound of grinding unless the shaft sheered fairly clear cut. not knowing much of this new style, but based on other air operated units, would shifting trans to reverse or high side then seeing if something happens letting out the clutch be a shot.?
  10. major factor would be 1-are you doing this for yourself or as in JOJO's builds most /all are for customers. with the high quality workmanship from JOJO a customers engine receives a total overhaul. if this unit is for yourself, common sense would play important roll. not knowing mileage/hrs on donor then time and $$$$ would be an important consider. understand the original question about easy access to possible future problems while out of frame . air tanks from donor show oil etc. time frame for getting unit back and running would make a difference to how far you rip and tear.
  11. the new style cellphone holder
  12. NOW THIS HAS TO STOP!! LOL when I laugh this much I cough uncontrollably 😂😂. wife wanted to know what was so funny;; I showed her . positive response ;:: i just won't post it .sorry honey your 36 D's are nice , but ! LOL
  13. what you do to it would depend largely on ;; how did it run, sound before removal from chassis. new clutch is being installed. mileage on it , blow-by are factors. other then clutch, rear seal anything else can be done in chassis. runs like a top , shouldn't need internals. a coat of paint would be only item done easier out of frame . LOL
  14. super singles and a 5th wheel that seems mounted more then usual 6in ahead of center. interesting to find out what it is (was) used for.
  15. so many positives to observing the forums when the day is not going good. they chest brighten everything LOL
  16. back in the day when a conversion was done changing from inner oil seal removal to one seal ,the outer seal had to be changed from leather grease seal to "new" style oil seal . today must be one style fits all ?
  17. hope your  birthday was positive and enjoyable. 😀 HAPPY BIRTHDAY

  18. airbags will not only make a better ride ,and help suspension the improvement on your back after driving all day will be priceless!
  19. common sense russia won't use nukes; they are too close. of course there is no common sense any more. be like going in your garage with a hand grenade , close the door and pull the pin. you know shrapnel will get you. scary part is like china getting the blame for covid , a nuke can come from russia direction; doesn't mean they sent it. who shot kennedy=?? , who fired the first shot to start civil war =?? need for power and greed worse ever. as I stated many times unfortunately:: sorry grandkids
  20. definitely agree on the B model not possibly having the problem BUT 1- statement said more with the plastic fans .2 - don't know if the metal fan removed and plastic installed.3- when the shutters closed the sound (negative draw) changed ; 4- have to keep these "youngsters" on their toes. 5 when plastic fans appeared ;; alot -not all shutters disappeared. 6- many time I have used cardboard to heat an engine. it's the method when placing the cardboard. less flex on older metal fans and possibly distance from fan to radiator was more, B's and others of the day didn't have AC condensers, trans coolers, intercooler radiators and whatever else was put up front .LOL
  21. remember if you are going to block the radiator with cardboard ; do it slowly. have seen a cardboard thrown in front of a running radiator because "it was cool to see it stick there" . the quick negative draw will bend a fan blade into the radiator. more with the plastic fans then the older metal ones.
  22. is it staying in Maine or going else where ? great if it's heading to CT; might be able to check it out. 864 and triplex in a cab over . real nice combo.
  23. sorry couldn't reply sooner; spent the night in hospital emergency room till 1:30 am. home and doing a little bit better. the answer has been given above the main issue is how an appliance is fasten to the truck. has to be insulated . CB's back in the day neg ground put in pos ground units had to be secured by rubber ties etc. some older brockways also had pos ground if memory is correct. far as the heater, I would install the screw style red/black connectors on lower dash, set up where put the wire end through the terminal hole then tighten connector .
  24. story I was told is , UPS figured the cost each mack letter on hood and the cost of the bulldog ; had the total eliminated from the truck. makes sense if a company is buying thousands of units . Mack provided the bull dog on each truck. also UPS didn't want to be an advertiser for anyones product. keep in mind this is back 50 yrs ago. seeing the brown interior first thought was a UPS truck. never remember seeing one back then either.
  25. to be around when those P T O's first came out ; talk about feeling old .
