  1. this is too new for me teacher ; question I have is : does this have any relationship to the dynatard? stepping light pressure should disconnect the engine brake ??NO? does this happen if engine brake switch is off?? wouldn't be a bad shorted out solenoid , depressing pedal should cut engine brake.. chafed wire some where's along clutch linkage path ??
  2. unfortunately today I did not take a video of a '70's Terex loader with front flat tire being unloaded from a triaxle low bed using another large loader. and Barnum Bailey thought they had a circus act . owners says to me :" got another project for you "! gee thanks I need some more. 4 cyl Detroit . stop cable broke ' they've been shutting it off with emergency stop !!!WTF you can't do that you will suck in the dam seals. don't you understand why it is called an EMERGENCY shut off .
  3. Have a safe trip. I worked all day at the farm in Woodbury today : But you could have brought the puppies to cheshire to let them walk around. you were welcome to keys of this house also.
  4. If you still need to move(trailer)it , then leave some sort of guarantee for controlled stopping. whether drive train/ parking brake system. DO NOT rely on a couple of 4x4's behind wheels for stopping. a truck or any motor vehicle rolling off trailer can jump over 4x4's. that statement based on experience.
  5. can't enlarge picture enough for these bad eyes to see ;BUT that has to be Red Coach : front grill guard says Service ??? hope You hurry and comprise a Book. So many forgotten fleets just from new England (CT) gone and forgotten .not even counting "the little guys " .
  6. back in the day practice was every chance that came about. back when body was in much better shape ; I could shift a duplex twin stick 3rd hi to 4th lo with one hand. reach part way down the shift levers , thumb on main =up to right (4th) ; small finger on aux = straight up (low). the fun days
  7. and to think if she didn't bite the apple from the tree of knowledge ; she may have climbed out of the DM wearing only a fig leave. ( got back on track) LOL
  8. always the number one priority ::SAFETY !!! start removing drive shaft(shafts) caging brakes ;; you are loosing parking ability. keep couple 4x4's or what ever to block the wheels. don't want to be under it removing driveshaft and have your legs/ foot run over.
  9. need anything call me. there's plenty of room in this yard in cheshire for puppies to roam and crap. better then sitting in hotel room.
  10. What hospital is he at ?? Yale ?
  11. might not have been noticeable if it was a complete transmission swap.it was a take two and make one, original front half was coupled to "newly found " transmission back half/ also remember this was a midnight "undercover " mission . back in the day a ten speed was a ten speed. fact the broken ten was from over the road tractor while the " newly acquired " may have been from a B model dump truck.
  12. If he/ they were so concerned the party could have been skipped . might have gotten me at least a hr sleep between jobs, and not as many trips from backhoe controls to jumping on back of the F model to install the transmission.
  13. I bet Adam could have done quite well = didn't need Eve so fast to help screw things up. she's the one who "provided the apple ", LOL
  14. more important = thanks for update. not sure why you still had a problem if trailer was disconnected. if by chance there is a next time try hooking a different trailer also.
  15. only time I ever got to notice differences in "over/ double over transmission ratios was when repairing a two stick duplex . was from a cab over F model which driver missed a shift going up steep hill pulling load of water. shattered the back half and of course the truck had to be running next day, owner located(stole) a 10 speed from a contractor near by. while bosses/wife's went to a party left me in garage using a john deere backhoe for crane removed broken 10 speed = swapped back halves -reinstalled transmission which took till am next morning ,left there went right to full time job, only to hear from driver "it doesn't shift right . big difference in ratios" well next time steal a different Transmisson .
  16. every time you turn the key and let the clutch out will be a learning experience. in due time a driver becomes one with the truck. a book will show normal shift sequence ; many variable determine actual pattern == load size/ terrain/ weather conditions etc. a driver will learn when to shift not always by what the gauge shows but how the engine sounds. times will call for skipping two or more gears whether from main or aux, it's a learning practice. hopefully it will be a fun one also.
  17. and I bet you think your alone ! LOL I'm guessing "inspector Clouseau " has a sister which I must have married. and some where out there must be more sisters. LMAO
  18. at least Pappy was smart enough NOT to put his arm through the steering wheel when twin shifting. hit a bump/pothole and that wheel can move quickly with force causing a sore arm -(so I've heard )LOL Bulldog had a winter coat similar to one on my '77 F-350. watching dash gauges RPM's didn't move much =neither did the left foot from drivers in both videos while shifting. I don't remember the B61 I drove part time as a fill in having the lady's voice telling me when to turn as with the green Mack.
  19. memory correct; that's the difference between a quad 20 speed and quad 18 speed . dash shift pattern states not to use those two combos.
  20. anything can do to help; let me know. my work schedule is very flexible. this yard in cheshire NOT fenced in but possibly the puppies want to walk the yard for exercise.
  21. sorry for Your loss. I found my best companion ; a 8 week old shepherd husky at a shelter number of yrs ago. he stayed by my side for 16 yrs . as with many 2/or 4 legged ; time takes it's toll. a decision to have him putdown to end his suffering were difficult. at 74 I can not enter thoughts of a new shelter puppy; my knees can't walk it. don't want the misery of putting down a senior dog. in a weird way the contract for this rent states "no animals/pets", possibly a good thing. thoughts of a cat are there . to have witnessed today how Otherdog and His Wife have 3 beautiful puppies so loyal and calm were a great gladness to me.
  22. brain taxing to remember who from watertown bought a brand new R-700 V/8maxi tractor . Watertwon construction ??? . mid 70's , I set it up for new truck prep-- 5th wheel etc.
  23. It would be beneficial to ALL if you comprised a book much like the CT construction trucks . I forgot all about the Mcleary division mixers.
  24. Have a safe and positive trip back to home land. boy did I get static telling the wife of Your offer of jar of hot sauce and said " no thank You !! LOL you both are two of the most down to earth persons I've been honored to have met. THANK YOU both
  25. well I certainly like the looks of that gasket over first picture; LOL
