  1. let's see if the "ole timers" know this answer (ok maybe you youngster know. back in had to be mid 70's a construction fleet in CT bought two (2) DM 600 steel nose tractors and trailer dumps from Waterbury Mack . I wasn;t allowed to drive them to delivery- I had to use company car and pick up the drivers. the tractors were red or orange (not F&F).; thought they went towards Torrington area . this question has boggled my mind since looking at this steel nose DM and also the post of ct construction .
  2. the DM 800 for construction is a majestic beauty ; BUT the DM600 steel nose tractor is a league of it's own ::: NOT talking about having to work on the half cab Pain-in- a-- ! the appearance short steel hood real nice. thanks for pictures also.
  3. your talking about Macks and you say "when I find a GOOD one!!! what the heck ??? are you implying You found a bad one???LOL that white paint scheme just sets the fleet off. real nice. waiting to see back half of DM600 tractor. don't tease with just frontal view.
  4. if the greedy lawsuit attorneys didn't drag out the court cases so they can collect their $500.oo plus an hr fee; the innocent wouldn't have to wait years to be compensated for lost loved ones. which in most/all cases there is no $$ amount to bring back those lost. no politics allowed back to Mack trucks
  5. it wouldn't take as long to "settle" if the pockets of the unjustified weren't being filled first. billions sent to Ukraine AFTER the news stated the corrupt Ukraine officials pocketed 40 MILION $$ they were sent which were going for arms and military aid.
  6. THANK YOU SIR for all you do. no possible quote can explain the positive this site does for us "old timers". for the coin numbers. I would always stay with the challenge of the search. nothing dealing with $$ ' it's the challenge. THANK YOU again and always.
  7. what a lucky and fortunate person YOU are to have such an understanding and beautiful lady willing to share a passionate hobby with. should I make the trip to NC to see my younger sister ; have high hopes of meeting You also Sir. nice truck
  8. if only to have the remembrance of the " making a machine run better" WITH OUT THESE ---- computers. it can be done. cleanliness is Godlyness. yes it can be done to make a better performance without $$$. new generation has missed SO MUCH in old days when knowledge was so important.
  9. every penny . the fun and enjoyment / challenge of having a complete set same number!! not for $$ but the challenge of a complete set all same number. at 72 just so tired of everything being about the $$ . doesn't anyone do things for fun/ challenge anymore ?
  10. think the fact it is solid red with silver radiator shroud and period correct chrome bumper just sets it out. others have two tone/ fenders dif color ;; which is also nice and other combos . it's one of the best style cabs having proper amount of chrome and alum. only thing it's missing is "updated" clean alum/ chrome can for exhaust . LOL
  11. jake in the Hartford tunnel! had to be the best sound.
  12. enjoy the unit and like a marriage it takes time to figure what works and what don't. fortunately for You other half is all in agreement to the new purchase, HAVE A BLAST.
  13. I see you were smart enough to show everyone an AFTER picture not a coming soon/ or at the moment cooking all that beyond delicious food;; why of course I would have flown down for some wood fired cooking. LMAO
  14. to stay period correct. it would be a set of "fish bowls " (perlux) lights under bumper.
  15. what are you using for a muffler or it's a straight-out pipe? not that the masterpiece needs anything else; but a classy pinstripe would put it over the top
  16. big -luber as stated/ small fuel with scrapper inside have seen and worked on. the middle should be the power steering. did you trace the lines ?? one to PS pump other to box ??
  17. guess we can try to be positive and go with the idea this climate change is nature doing its thing. many scientist believe a meteor hit this planet causing a dust cloud which wipe out the dinos. which started the ice age. can't confirm that theory due to believe it or not I wasn't there; I showed up few years later. no matter what did it or continues to do it;; as kid I remember when winters were long and cold with lots of snow. not much snow few years in CT.
  18. well I sure do hope the B M T crew will get to see pictures/ video of the 17 ft'er being moved. THANK YOU in advance.
  19. no offence to author of post BUT this late at night it is somewhat comical. not to go off topic but I have yesterday's new paper !! sorry couldn't help myself: I do see it is listed in "parts for sale "🙄
  20. would almost have to say , Nature is showing mankind who's the boss. after so many years of underground bomb testing/all the deep mining pits made with HD doses of explosives? under water fracking. lest we forget the cutting down of such large areas of forest/ amazon rain forest etc. for greed and a few bucks the global conditions are way out of Wack. weather of a violent nature is drastically changing.
  21. I've heard Viagra helps repair "throttle performance also BUT I'm not much for taking pills. just once again proves the point as things get old ; they tend to become worn !!LMAO.
  22. THANK YOU SIR . there are some small advantages of being older (ancient ); today's world of diagnostics seems to start at the high-tech side by passing the basics first. pump out put shaft linkage should be a spring-loaded arm. manual working arm can easily give eng more RPM's, few worn pivots can greatly affect things.
  23. it's unique in its own way. so different looking makes it sharp looking rig. bet if you have stopping situation ; just pull the lanyard for that trumpet on roof . will make as much noise as a jake and possibly the same hold back, LOL
  24. with such a difference in RPM's stationary VS road test; a far outer space question for me is what shape are the cab mounts ?? air ride or stationary mount ? when you got1700 rpm's did you work the pump with total linkage connected to pedal or manual pump operation using only lever on pump ?? worn linkage pedal to pump ? road test pedal not full max ??
  25. Thankfully I also have those Mentors even today which are no longer here to physically help but they "offer assistance "in their own way. no offence but I must correct your statement. Earl WAS my mentor: Earl IS your mentor. to this very day.
