look at the engine no on the oil pan rail it will indicate what it is. oil pressure relief springs had a bad habit of breaking ,loosing oil pressure. head gaskets weep a bit. keep fresh good quality oil up to it with lucas or moreys as a supplement .as a hobby truck they are fine but i would never work one now -
some one give her $1.50 so she can have a root

that is right you will break anything if you flog and abuse it . it all comes down to understanding the meaning of "mechanical sympathy" and only using 80% of duty cycle ,some people expect to use 110% of d/c and wonder why things fail

torque limiter valve is what your thinking of

mta [mack trucks aus] were getting 425 hp out of e6 2v reliably because the adf [army ]were after more hp without upgrading into new trucks ,but in the end the number crunchers canned the idea as the trucks were nearing the end of their service.

bit of a side note "bega cheese is not oz owned ,it is owned by fontana which is a kiwi company

Teamster, we would like to have choice instead of this halal bullshit shoved down f*&^ing necks to appease a minority who DOESN'T want fit in with our way of life. This halal certification is a crock of sh*t. HOW can alcohol be halal???? Because here in Oz, Coopers Ale is Halal. Yep, you got sunshine. Halal, WTF?

mate I feel for you ,nothing worse going around in circles and not getting any result, how does it go with the other pump on it? [I know it still has a miss ],besides that. does it pull alright? .next thing is to pull the exhaust manifold off and check to see which port is wet ,being wet will indicate poor combustion i.e. broken rings or riding valve/s or valve seat. 1 question for you have you ever tried starting the engine with aero start? that shit will break piston rings in a heart beat .

did you get the pump checked???
-
NO ,as FJH said there two types of pumps not just the width the narrower roller is actually smaller in rolling diameter too .use the genuine ambac or bosch valves as the pai valves are smaller in diameter and they will cock sideways in the bore ,that's if you decide to put a kit through the lift pump. might pay to check the valves in the lift pump that is on the engine now as they will cause a loss of power if are not sealing properly .give us a call after 6pm bris time 0423524565 steve

Mack Titan At Work Down Under

all road trains must limited to 90k's either by electronic or gear bound -
all the time only the volume varies ,less under full load, more at idle and part throttle. delivery is normally at the back end of the pump, overflow valve at the front ,so you don't end up with air being trapped in the fuel gallery ,if you to see how much heat is generated in the fuel system do a long hard pull loaded ,pull up and check the temperature with your hand on the rear end of the fuel tank you will be supprised how hot it gets "hot fuel =less horsepower". waiting for the start of Bathurst at the moment ,i'll get back to you
-
yes ,excess fuel is returned to the tank [the injector pump generates heat and excess fuel is used to cool the pump it is then returned to the rh fuel tank[ hot tank] where it is cooled by air flow over the tank and gravity feeds the fuel to the lh tank through the crossover line .

micked , can you do a video of it running please mate

the front mount will have to be made ,you will have to fit 1/2 in spacers on the g/box mounts to raise the engine ,the e9 is the same physical size as the 866/865 just 866 exhaust manifolds sweep up and e9 drop down ,they will touch on chassis rails. I use the same radiator [1100 sq in] you will have to make a new outlet in the bottom tank , the bonnet will have to be moved forward to fit the intercooler. the photos are of one done before. the second lot of photos are the 700 I'm building now

what timing is the pump ,is the pump off the engine ,if it is take the sump plate off DO NOT lay the pump right over when removing the plate ,place a clean white rag underneath the pump to catch the diesel if the brass bearings are shagged the brass particles will show up on the rag ,if the fuel is clean reseal the sump plate with Loctite 515 recharge the fuel gallery and rotate the pump through a few cycles to see if you have a lazy pumping element ,the delivery valve in the pumping unit do get stuck with the shit fuel we have here in oz ,I had the a simular problem with my 350 4v ,I also advanced the timing by extra 3 degrees NO MORE than that. when fitting your lift pump rotate the engine so the lift pump cam is on the back side of the cam not the nose ,it will make the fitting up of the pump easier steve

R-model front axle identifying. Need help.
steve p replied to Vladislav's topic in Driveline and Suspension
vlad ,we used and still use spider wheels in the N.T. on road train work ,as we have worst road conditions anywhere in the world and we carry the most weight in these conditions ,so I think that says it all -
Fiberglass hood repairs
steve p replied to sodly's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
tip for the day ,when sanding /grinding fibreglass ,before starting grab some talcum powder, rub it into your skin then sprinkle a liberal dose over your skin again DO NOT RUB OR BRUSH IT OFF the put your overalls /long sleeved shirt /trousers this will minimise the glass particles getting into your skin ,once finished working have a hot shower hot as you can bear ,let the hot water run over your body to draw the fibres out your skin .get dressed as no one needs to see ya naked ,if your still a bit itchy just rub some talcum powder on the affected areas and bobs your uncle. steve this does work -

vlad 537, 538 have the same track and use the same kingpin kit .the spring packs are the same ,just check the width of the spring pack drillings on the axles. the wheel bearings would be the same I would think . steve -

steve p replied to Vladislav's topic in Driveline and Suspension
vlad the beams are identical in fitment the 538c will have heavier casting for the eye for the kingpin ,the spindle uses the same bearing as the 537 ,just the casting is heavier around the kingpin area and the control arms are also heavier. here in oz we didn't get 10 stud wheels for r models we had spider wheels so I can't help on that area. just check the drillings for width in the spring packs some were wide and some were narrow drillings steve -
