Cool story mackdaddy. There were a few Freightliner cabovers in my town with V12's but I never got to drive any. Lumber haulers here had some big fancy iron back in the day. Ford CLT's with KT600's, lots if Mack V8's, Freightliners with KT's and V12's, Pete's with 3408's.

Oh ok, LOL It looks like a CH nose in that pic.

Is it just the nose shrunk in that pic because of the curve? Because that sure looks like a CH.

I ran a 1988 R Model. The motor had to be replaced due to a previous drivers neglect. The motor we got for it, we were told by Mack was the very last E6 350 to come off the line as they switched to the E7. I know where the truck is still sitting but it is completely rotten now and someone after me over heated that E6 and cooked it. The truck currently has a 237 they stuck in it.

Is that true what someone just told me.....General Motors is the one automaker that refused to retool to make ventilators? If it is I would never buy another GM product. So my wifes phone rings today. We look at it and it says " Shenzhen Guangdong" and the phone number was "+806........" Ya, I always answer calls that start with a plus sign. That's gotta be legit right? Bahahaha. So then 5 minutes later my daughter's phone rings, same number. But this time they left a voicemail. It was some woman speaking what I will assume was chinese? LOL Unfortunately I didn't have a translator handy, so I guess we'll never know what the heck she said, LOL

Well, I don't wanna make light of this serious virus. It is tragic for those suffering. But on a lighter note, instead of hoarding toilet paper like most idiots in this world, I have been hoarding diesel fuel. The old F550 and transfer tank has been busy. While it may be bad for the economy, it is sure nice for my bank account right now.

No worries, I know you weren't being negative. The R was my all time favorite truck. Looks like we were both into the same kind of thing Snowdog. Sorry the pic is blurry, but didn't have many pics from the old days. But we used to put an MTO sander on every winter up until the MTO disbanded and started contracting out for all highway maintenance. This was my 78 S-Line. NTC270 Cummins. Dump truck in summer, sander in winter. I used to like that sanding job. It was nice and simple back then. You didn't have to deal with all those liquid de-icing agents and crap. And you could put out how ever much material you wanted to. We also had an LT9000 same blue as yours, with a 318 Detroit, and a Fleetstar.

Beggars can't be choosers snowdog....can't find any Mack's around here in salt country that aren't completely rotten. My volunteer fire dept had an old R Model but it is already long gone. That's like me mowerman. I drove quite a few Ford's bu they were all Detroit powered. Except for an LTL that had a 3406B 400 Cat. There were a LOT of 3208's around here back in the day, but this is the first one I ever drove. Not a powerhouse but it sounds good.

I know. I'm in love, LOL I'd rather drive this than the loaded 2020 4900 Western Star, LOL It's got one crack in the passenger side dash top and the door weather stripping and window felts are pretty dried out and brittle. That's about it.

That's what's nice about fire trucks....they are kept in excellent shape and low miles. It was outside and even at cold start there wasn't a puff of smoke from that 3208. I'd rather drive this than the new truck, LOL

We just picked this up today. What a beauty. It reminded me of how much I liked these old Ford's as I drove it to our yard. Going to get a PTO drive for the water pump, and 4 corner sprayers and a gravity bar on the back and used as a flusher truck. Use it to fill pools also. Getting amber lenses for the red lights that are on it. Has a 3208 V8 Cat turbo, 250 h.p. Allison auto, rubber block rear and 24.5 rubber.

That is nice. Color works well too.

Ya, all sounds good, but the construction company we hire out to is sending a crew of their guys north for a highway job. So, a bunch of guys in crew cab pickups, and two to a motel room in a rural town which may or may not even have any restaurants open. And the mine my buddy works for...they are still operating. They have big greyhound buses that they bus their men in for the two hour ride to the mine. Once there, sure you have your own room and washroom.....but they all have to eat in a common dining room. Still lots of stuff like that going on.

I t says it is an original fire truck, but it sure seems to look like it was a repurposed fire truck, no??

A guy in town here that collects cars just had one of those VW's delivered. Same color too, but a little less rust. Or "patina" as it is now known, LOL

Yes, I can't believe the rash of failures on the 5.7 Hemi due to that MDS. Some customers were without their new trucks for up to 10 months because they didn't even have parts to fix them. One of my friends even went to a tuning shop as they have a way to delete the MDS and they wanted thousands of dollars to do it. So he just traded it for another brand truck.

Well there is a positive to all this. Even though it is hurting the economy overall, it is putting the hurt on big oil and I LOVE IT!!! The barrel is dropping like a rock. And while we are still being gouged at the pump, I love seeing nobody buying fuel. But I guess I shouldn't get too excited.....big oil will screw us over for this eventually. I just saw pics of Hwy 401 through Toronto. One of the busiest highways in the world. There is nobody on it!

That's a sweet setup! There is a company here in Northern Ontario (Raglan Industries) that makes a quick change setup kinda like that. The fifth wheel stays on the truck and the dump box goes over it. And you have a winch rack you just back under, lift the box up and drive out from under it. Many of us used to take the box off in winter, throw a headache rack on and go logging for the winter. I'd love to have that truck for it.
