Another BMT meet up/meeting of the minds........
1958 F.W.D. replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
If you did that to your A Model I would have to have some friends of mine from South Philly (that drive a black caddy) come visit you to discuss your decision.....LOL just kidding, I know you wouldn't ever do that!!! -

LOL of course I would not forget you sir!!! (Does seeing you rapidly vanish in the rear view mirror count as forgetting you?) -
I have been attending Macungie for 10 years, and have usually drive the FWD Firetruck out on Friday afternoon, park it overnight- have the old lady pick me up and then drop me back off Saturday AM....I have never had any trouble with anything missing and have never heard of any problems at Macungie. It's a family environment, 90% are blue-collar working stiffs and we all pretty much look out for each other's stuff. Doug Maney might be able to tell you more about any problems. But I wouldnt hesitate for one minute to park a fully stocked pumper there and then walk the show grounds.

Had breakfast with Slpwlker this morning. He delivered in Pocono Summit yesterday during the day, and got a hotel on 22 in Allentown about 15 mins from my house and called me yesterday wanting to go howl at the moon last night, but I had to take the kids to their game as Momma was working overtime at the hospital. So we had breakfast this morning instead. Got to meet Randy and his girlfriend and another local friend of his who is also a truck nut. Good people!!!! We all solved the worlds problems over bacon and eggs, now if the rest of the world would just follow our directives we'd be ok (beginning with the immediate destruction/melting down of any 2-stroke oil burners......)We forgot to take a picture to post on here, but maybe that's a good thing??? Randy it was good to finally meet you, and thanks for breakfast, next time with a little advance notice I'll have you guys over the house and we'll do some steaks on the grill!!!!! SAFE TRAVELS!!! -Randy Y That makes about 4-5 guys I have met from here, not including the ones at the annual "Gathering of the Fools" at 12:00 on Macungie Saturdays... I have met Farmer52, Leversole, Mack69man, Doug Maney.......one or two others who's names slip my memory right now.

Where are you flying into and when does your plane arrive???

^ yeah what he said...lol.....

Yup I'm guessing a collapsed or plugged line- check the crossover line if you have tanks on both sides, too. Also, just for shits and giggles, check for a closed valve somewhere between the tanks and the fuel pump- I know many guys that used to put in valves (easily reached) that they could turn off if the parked for the weekend; that way if someone decided to steal the truck, she aint going very far. It's a long shot but I have been stumped by sillier stuff. Yer gonna pay a few bucks to get her towed......I would try one more time or two to get your fuel problems solved, then check for roadworthyness, and if the tires, brakes and lights are all ok, drive her back to your place- IIRC it's not very far, correct????

Just last week I was invited to attend the retirement party of a close friend on the job, which was held at Marine Co. 9's quarters, and was fortunate enough to receive a tour of Firefighter II. Have a boatload of pics- that boat is nicer than my house....Hell, the engine room is nicer than my house!!!

For you guys stayong right there at the 100/78 Interchange by the Cracker Barrell- if you have a chance, walk down the street past the Cracker Barrel, to the bar down on the right at the stop sign, I cannot remember the name for the life of me. The food is absolutely FANTASTIC. I usually have dinner there on Saturday nights with Robert Gabrick and some Sterliing Truck nuts.

41 Chevy- you may very well see me at some point. I was recently very active in the restoration of the former USCGC TAMAROA WMEC-166 until the project was scrapped by the owner due to lack of needed funds. As I have always been an admirer of fireboats and especially the Firefighter, I may very well become involved with this, just wish it wasnt out on the ass end of Long Island, thats a 3+ hour ride for me, probably more on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. I am now facebook friends with Charles, and have been communicating with him. If the owner is who I think it is, I have been friends with him for a while- he owns a warehouse with about 200+ firetrucks. he is truly dedicated to preserving fire apparatus history- if it is indeed who I think it is.

I had heard a rumor that A.L. was involved and possibly had a stake in ownership, so he is indeed the owner?? If so, thats a great thing!!!!

You can throw out a sleeping bag in my garage if you want to...............

What a coinkydink, I joined their facebook group today. I was aboard Firefighter back in the late 90's, stopped by to visit and scored a ride when the got a run while I was there. And just two weeks ago I scored a tour of Firefighter II.

Like Yarnall, I will wake up in my own bed...I live about 20 miles away at Exit 67 of I-78. I'll be there with the 1958 F.W.D. Firetruck, in my usual spot over in the second-to-last row on the far right if you are standing at the main entrance to the park looking in at the fields. You can't miss me, I'm the only F.W.D. truck there (and no you smart asses it's not the F.W.D. powered by a mechanical asshole green leaker lawn boy satan's engine anti-christ 2-stroke. I always have my pop-up set up, if anyone wants to stop by and say hello and take a load off your feet for a few minutes and cool off out of the sun please by all means keep walking stop and rest for a few minutes!!! Also if you did not bring a truck, but have a bunch of stuff and want to leave it in one of my compartments or under the truck, please feel free to do so (I'm not responsible for theft!!!) I'm taking off from work on Friday, will bring the truck out on Friday and have the old lady pick me up Friday evening and then drop me off Saturday morning. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!!

And don't forget the ball-peen hammer. You know, the one to smash the shit out of your left hand in order to keep your mind off the noise of the mechanical asshole under the hood..........

There's an old-school Cummins shop that advertises in Double Clutch and Wheels of Time, can't remember the name though. -
antique insurance question
1958 F.W.D. replied to GEOD998's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I have mine insured through JC Taylor (Upper Darby, Pa.) with a little bit more than the State of Pa. miniumum for liability. The truck is in "fair" condition, that is to say in pretty much original condition with some cosmetic work. I have it insured for a dollar value that is not obscene but not low-balled and certainly more than the scrap value. -
About the firetruck/axle pic: it's been floating around various fire-related forums for about a year now. Word on the street is that an after-event inspection revealed that the U-bolts were NFG as they rotted out.....driver jumped on the brakes and got quite a surprise. If you guys want to see more pix of the engine room and/or more of the fireboat holler and I will post em. She's quite an impressive ship. And I like teachers- you do something wrong and they make you do it over again.

Lets see if I can do this without fooking it up...... Last week, my father and I had the opportunity to go aboard FDNY's new fireboat, "FIREFIGHTER II" assigned to Marine Company 9 on Staten Island. Here is a shot of one of the auxiliary engines, I think this is the one that powers the bow thrusters. Here is one of the four main engines. Note the size of the turbos- they are HUGE. I will look up the If you see this in your rearview mirror, you better GTFO my way!!!!! A big load I saw not too long ago, sitting on the side of Rt 309 just north of Quakertown, Pa. below I-78. I think this must have been one of those pterodactyl dinosaur-birds. Load was splattered all over the hood, too. I hope he got something to settle his stomach. A buddy of mine and the Women of Hellertown- they wouldn't leave him alone for some reason. They are as annoying as them women in Winfall. Saw the Ectomobile headed northbound on I476 (the Northeast Extension of the Pa Pike) around yardstick 33. One of my son's teachers- In the spirit of proper parenting, I always volunteer to go to the classroom for any parent-teacher conferences. Whether they are doing good in school or not. I wasn't driving, honest!!!! This is what's parked next to the FWD. (after I win the powerball.)

Another vote for the Iphone.....And get yourself an OTTERBOX protective case for the iphone or whichever phone you buy if OTTERBOX has one available for that phone. They are kinda expensive, but the damn things make your phone BOMBPROOF. -
Lads if I remember correctly, the latest version of NFPA 1901 (The Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus) suggests that apparatus 10 years old to be placed in a "reserve" status, and 20 years to be replaced. For the un-initiated, the NFPA (National Fire Protection Assoc. or as we like to call it "Not For Practical Application) are strictly standards and not "rules" as many like to call them; however many organizations and municipalities like to claim that they "follow all NFPA standards" which would be impossible. However, what must be understood is that if you find yourself in a courtroom seated at the Defense table, be prepared for the Plaintiff to be using the NFPA standards against you, as they are the recognized, "expert" criteria within the United States and in many places abroad. I recently did some fire code consulting work for a fueling facility at an industrial plant in a far-away land and one of the requirements of the project was that everything had to meet NFPA standards for fuel farms and petrochemical bulk storage facilities.
