  1. A local friend just got a policy for a full size 1968 Hahn firetruck last week through them.
  2. The cabover makes up for the lack of boobage
  3. I just threw up
  4. And don't forget the ball-peen hammer. You know, the one to smash the shit out of your left hand in order to keep your mind off the noise of the mechanical asshole under the hood..........
  5. There's an old-school Cummins shop that advertises in Double Clutch and Wheels of Time, can't remember the name though.
  6. I have mine insured through JC Taylor (Upper Darby, Pa.) with a little bit more than the State of Pa. miniumum for liability. The truck is in "fair" condition, that is to say in pretty much original condition with some cosmetic work. I have it insured for a dollar value that is not obscene but not low-balled and certainly more than the scrap value.
  7. About the firetruck/axle pic: it's been floating around various fire-related forums for about a year now. Word on the street is that an after-event inspection revealed that the U-bolts were NFG as they rotted out.....driver jumped on the brakes and got quite a surprise. If you guys want to see more pix of the engine room and/or more of the fireboat holler and I will post em. She's quite an impressive ship. And I like teachers- you do something wrong and they make you do it over again.
  8. Lets see if I can do this without fooking it up...... Last week, my father and I had the opportunity to go aboard FDNY's new fireboat, "FIREFIGHTER II" assigned to Marine Company 9 on Staten Island. Here is a shot of one of the auxiliary engines, I think this is the one that powers the bow thrusters. Here is one of the four main engines. Note the size of the turbos- they are HUGE. I will look up the If you see this in your rearview mirror, you better GTFO my way!!!!! A big load I saw not too long ago, sitting on the side of Rt 309 just north of Quakertown, Pa. below I-78. I think this must have been one of those pterodactyl dinosaur-birds. Load was splattered all over the hood, too. I hope he got something to settle his stomach. A buddy of mine and the Women of Hellertown- they wouldn't leave him alone for some reason. They are as annoying as them women in Winfall. Saw the Ectomobile headed northbound on I476 (the Northeast Extension of the Pa Pike) around yardstick 33. One of my son's teachers- In the spirit of proper parenting, I always volunteer to go to the classroom for any parent-teacher conferences. Whether they are doing good in school or not. I wasn't driving, honest!!!! This is what's parked next to the FWD. (after I win the powerball.)
  9. Another vote for the Iphone.....And get yourself an OTTERBOX protective case for the iphone or whichever phone you buy if OTTERBOX has one available for that phone. They are kinda expensive, but the damn things make your phone BOMBPROOF.
  10. Lads if I remember correctly, the latest version of NFPA 1901 (The Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus) suggests that apparatus 10 years old to be placed in a "reserve" status, and 20 years to be replaced. For the un-initiated, the NFPA (National Fire Protection Assoc. or as we like to call it "Not For Practical Application) are strictly standards and not "rules" as many like to call them; however many organizations and municipalities like to claim that they "follow all NFPA standards" which would be impossible. However, what must be understood is that if you find yourself in a courtroom seated at the Defense table, be prepared for the Plaintiff to be using the NFPA standards against you, as they are the recognized, "expert" criteria within the United States and in many places abroad. I recently did some fire code consulting work for a fueling facility at an industrial plant in a far-away land and one of the requirements of the project was that everything had to meet NFPA standards for fuel farms and petrochemical bulk storage facilities.
  11. kscarbel- I sent you a message, dont know if you got it. May I post these same pictures in my FWD facebook page?
  12. You could have taken that Detroit out and replaced it with a Renault engine and it would have been better
  13. Not many folks knew of FWD's highway tractors, which were not all-wheel drive unless if you special-ordered a driving steer axle. They were not long-lived.
  14. Oh yeah I've seen those....FWD referred to them as the "Ghetto Model" or the "ball-peen hammer your fingers to get over the misery" model.......They came with a dozen floor pans, 6 tons of kitty litter, three cases of ear muffs, and lifetime loss-of-hearing related medical benefits.
  15. You know....I was just about to say 141,000 miles my ass, maybe 1,141,000......But now that you mention it, yeah I am thinking old fire truck- But even 141,000 for a firetruck is high, unless if the owner did use it to pull some freight before he decided to sell it. Wish I had some money, that would be a nice toy to have.
  16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Vlad, are you planning a trip? Remember what I told you before- I live near New York City and Philadelphia, as well as very close to the Mack (Macungie) Factory and the Mack Museum. 24. I dont know a thing about this, so please forgive me. I want to do a makeover some portions of my yard and I will need topsoil. I think they sell it by the yard, yes??? Or is it by the ton? How do I calculate how much I will need? And since we're at it.....Do I lay it out, roll it with the roller and then throw the grass seed and hay/straw, or do I I lay it down, throw the grass seed, roll it with the roller and then put down hay/straw??
