  1. The guy I bought this trans from had this one rebuilt locally in NJ and was sitting in his shop as his spare. His fleet of R models had 12 speeds and his currect truck was a late 90s cl with a 350 and 12 speed. His CL was air shift with a dash switch for lo lo... He said he had pulled it out of a truck when he had some issue, had it rebuilt, then sold off most of his fleet. He just held onto this incase his cl trans went down. His cl had the plate with the air valves mounted to them but hat and the stick were not part of the sale....I will have to see if I can locate the valves and air cyl to complete the set up. I already have the selector valve on the stick...
  2. ok thats what I thought. I guess I can use the 2nd stick for now and convert it later....thanks for your help!
  3. bottom of screen....."REPLY TO THIS TOPIC" THEN LOOK AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT..."MORE REPLY OPTIONS" CLICK THAT . bottom left of screen it says "attach files" next to that click Browse. find and click on the file you want to upload from the computer, "then click attach this file" you should see a small pic/file size if it uploaded. hope this helps
  4. Reason I ask is I called up Global truck traders a week ago and bought an air shift top cover and the sent me the rear cover. I likely mispoke so I will keep this rear air top cover they sent as a spare. either way I just need to know what goes over the other hole as all I had ever seen were single stick 12 speeds. thanks for any help!
  5. the case is stamped TRTXL1070B so I would assume that I have the later single stick version? im wondering if just a cover goes over the hole where the 2nd stick would normaly be? I think on the early version the 2nd stick just put the trans into low low. With the later single stick version they just put a air shift control for that hole?
  6. also.... will my stick on my 6 speed bolt up to this top cover?
  7. In this pic of My 12 speed can someone tell me what is installed over both of the holes that the cardboard is keeping dust out. I know the one hole is for the stick but the other has me stummped. I thought one of the holes has an air shift? Thank you
  8. That's a good idea. Never thought of that...
  9. I just trimmed the ones that were barely too small. then put silicone on all of the ones that felt louse. the speedo and tach fit like a glove and never pop out.
  10. Thats where I took those pics Al. it was in a truck junk yard on the south side just off the skyway... Good to hear.... keep us posted with pics of progress, its a rare truck and would love to see the restoration pics.
  11. Speaking of v12's. How's that RS700L coming along Ernie?
  12. Saw him hauling end dumps 5-6 years back we would always wave when passing each other. Think we both could spot a long hood R a mile away?
  13. Here are a few I have seen in my travels... The cemented truck had 100% Mack drivetrain
  14. Man I noticed the air flow was poor these last few days with single digit temps and hi cycle times of the furnace. I pulled the filter and it looked like a litter box tipped on its side. I have been remodeling the house the last month cutting wood in the bacement, putting up new drywal and wood floors upstairs and man was it clogged. I pulled it out when the furnace was running and it made a sound of relief when i removed it! Went back upstairs after the new filter install and all the window curtains near the floor vents are blowing like I left a window open. Lol..... Just a friendly reminder!
  15. Yea I saw it a few times at Mack then saw it out on 176 for sale. Wonder if it sold or inside for winter . It's missing the air cleaner kinda wierd without it. But it looks like a nice old truck.
  16. Good to hear...
  17. Al... Do you know who has the blue R700 with twin stacks. He had it parked up for sale in front of a house on 176 near prairie grove? I went past it looking to get a shot of it and sadly did not see it on my way back from brads last week.
  18. Always thought the plain no padding interior r models were the same. To cold on low. Melt your legs on hi... Medium it just vibrates and drives me crazy!
  19. Had one in my first r model I drove. Wore the Chrome off of it
  20. Think super liners used the amber on boths sides and as a bonus some even had the cool marker light on the sides. So when your turn signal was not in use just the side of the signal had a marker light. I always liked those ...
  21. Saw him a few weeks back. He says hello to eveyone...
  22. I think this is the one I bought for my speedo and tach. they fit my stock mid 80s mack gauges. I like the standard (no visor ) myself but thats jsut me. http://www.uapac.com/trucks/interior-products/dash-accessories/gauge-accessories/gauge-cover-without-visor-speed-tachometer.html
  23. Sounds like a bad check valve. Or the system has a leak and the 2nd tank never gets over 100psi... Is the gauge reading correctly.
  24. I worked my RS in Chicago for 2 weeks hauling an end dump with manual steering. I quickly Decided to buy power steering so my arms did not fall off.
