  1. Al... Do you know who has the blue R700 with twin stacks. He had it parked up for sale in front of a house on 176 near prairie grove? I went past it looking to get a shot of it and sadly did not see it on my way back from brads last week.
  2. Always thought the plain no padding interior r models were the same. To cold on low. Melt your legs on hi... Medium it just vibrates and drives me crazy!
  3. Had one in my first r model I drove. Wore the Chrome off of it
  4. Think super liners used the amber on boths sides and as a bonus some even had the cool marker light on the sides. So when your turn signal was not in use just the side of the signal had a marker light. I always liked those ...
  5. Saw him a few weeks back. He says hello to eveyone...
  6. I think this is the one I bought for my speedo and tach. they fit my stock mid 80s mack gauges. I like the standard (no visor ) myself but thats jsut me. http://www.uapac.com/trucks/interior-products/dash-accessories/gauge-accessories/gauge-cover-without-visor-speed-tachometer.html
  7. Sounds like a bad check valve. Or the system has a leak and the 2nd tank never gets over 100psi... Is the gauge reading correctly.
  8. I worked my RS in Chicago for 2 weeks hauling an end dump with manual steering. I quickly Decided to buy power steering so my arms did not fall off.
  9. My rs700l was sold to Wichita Mack . In my travels I have found more westers in yards/fields of the Midwest. Found a few out in Cali and Nevada but not in the numbers I would have thought considering where they were built.
  10. Yea. 2 valve injector can be seen at top of head where the lines connect to it. 4 valve just has the lines entering the side of the head on passenger side. 4v have sloped valve covers. 1989 would be 4 v unless it was pulled and a 2v was swapped in at some point.
  11. I went and looked at those RS700L when they were for sale. IIRC they had v8s and 6 speeds. one had notes that the bearings were done on them recently. Cabs were good except for around the rear cab mounts. they both were rubber mounted and must have seen alot of bad roads because the inside of the cab floor had a hump in them from the ab mount pushing upwards. I spoke with one of the owners and he was nice to the point that he showed me some R models that had seen very little use and were kept inside on jack stands. even an old C model mack V8 with low miles. I heard both RS700L were sold to an exporter.
  12. Mark, dont be fooled! we have are share of the plastic bumper flaing in the the wind, cargo strap holding the fuel tank on, hood about to fly off .....trucks running around here.
  13. there is one I had forgotten about. that one would fit right next to a paccalla (sp) intermodal mack
  14. another Chicago outfit that had ties to the political machine. Only they got cought with their little scam and now can't work for the state anymore.
  15. PAUL i JUST COPIED AND SHARED THIS ON FACEBOOK.......VERY SAD BUT ALL TO TRUE...
  16. man sorry to hear that. this is getting ugly. think its time for a revolution!
  17. yes they are and deep in the pockets of the local politacal machine. ever notice one of their truck plates? ie..... "1"
  18. Looks like a good work horse. Good to hear its still around.
  19. What is your rear end ratio. A common set up was a 285/6speed and 4.17 rear ratio. Good for 62mph. A mack10,12,or 13 speed would work with those rears. Eaton 8LL would also work good
  20. Well I never had a cop want to smell the dirt. Only wanted to Weigh me. Unless the dirt is glowing green or catches fire on its own you will be fine. Just be sure where ever it is going that they do infact take contaminated clay. Around here all the dumps sniff test the dirt and reject it. Anywhere that take contaminated dirt charge $$$$$ and or you need a manifest that says where and too it's going/coming from. Best place to move slightly contaminated clay is to a dump site out in the middle of nowhere and let nature run her course on it.
  21. My opinion is that once its in the truck and down the road who will know what it is. Biggest issue is who will take it
  22. Have truck washed, drive around back through muddy field bring back for a bikini truck wash........ repete
  23. BEFORE YOU KEEP RUNNING THE ENGINE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD OIL PRESSURE! hopefully just a faulty sending unit or gauge. tap into an oil passage with a mechanical gauge and see if it indeed is low psi or just a bad dash gauge. start there and then come back to us....
  24. now there is a fleet that is still 90% mack....lots of late 90s - early 2000s rd macks in the fleet still
